Trying and failing to tame the smile on her face, Yuki took Marshall's hand. "Very true. And I don't mind, really. I wouldn't want to be an outcast or anything." She faltered at the foolish remark. Yuki didn't want to offend anyone she had just met, even if once she had been an outcast herself. "Sorry, I hope you didn't take that the wrong way."
Nate broke out into a relieved grin. "H*ll yeah." he said, He checked behind his back to make sure they were out of Yukis sight, then shrugged his tshirt off. Hid large black wings unfolded from their prison. He looked over at Shikume"on your marks, get set, go!!" he said and took off into the sky
"Well then," Marcus replied, stepping forward and breaking the stare exchange between Yuki and Marshall,"If Jake gets back soon we could all grab something to eat. There are awesome restaurants at the pier, and it's almost 1:00." Marcus grinned at the group. "Whaddya say guys? We've all gotta be hungry by- *umph!*" Marcus seemed like he was about to hurl, but he coughed up blood onto the pier. No, not now, he thought. He went over to the dock and coughed up more into the water. I have to go, he thought. I have to leave before they see what's happening! His tail tugged at the hem of his shirt and he dashed back up the hill into the alleys, leaving an uneven trail of blood.
Shikume let his wings roll out and unfurl as he ran and jumped into the sky. "We'll see who can make it to the treehouse first. Just remember you still haven't beaten me there yet." Shikume gave a strong flap of his wings as he took the lead enjoying every euphoric moment as the wind brushed over him.
Nate grinned at the challange and flapped his wings again, finding a currant of wind to ride on. The wind let him right behind Shikume and Nate strained to pass him. In the distance, Nate saw the outline of the old treehouse.
Jake finaly slowed down and stoped, back at his wheelchair. Sighing, he looked at it in disgust. Jake really hated it, the cramped feeling in his legs. Jake lowered himself into it and took off rolling into town. Looking around Jake finaly found them at the peir looking off at a trail of blood. Guessing what happened Jake rolled up and said, "Hows it going? Lets get something to eat, I'm starving." Jake hoped that Yuki would ingnor the trail of blood.
Marcus crouched on the roof of an old house. *urk* No. He thought. Not twice. He stood up, forcably tucked his tail back in and looked at the tiny dead demon laying in a puddle of blood. "Thanks 'Dad'" he mumbled and jumped off the roof. Maybe he could cover it up. "No I'm not a demon" he pictured himself saying. "I just have a um... condition." Yeah right, he thought with a grim face. Hopefully Jake's back. Side effects to being a half-demon suck. He thought as he jogged back to join the group for lunch.
"I've told you once, and I'll tell you again, you will never beat me in a race," Shikume said as he sat down in a comfy chair. " Besides that, I think I might know what Yuki is. She has a feline aura around her, and she seems unaware that she is special. I'm going to say she's a Neko probably a cat of some sort." With a flourish he jumped up and grabbed a coke from the fridge. "You want one Nate?"
Jake looked over at Yuki nervously, hopeing that she wouldn't freak out. Seeing Marcus jogging back, Jake smiled hopeing that they could cover this up together.
Marcus shuffled up to the group, looking a little worn and tired. "Hey, what's up, must've been something I ate... Heh..." he replied sheepishly, wiping the corner of his mouth quickly with a thumb. "So are we going to eat or not?" he said, giving a sort of weak smile, but quickly bettering it.
Nate smiled. "sure." he reached up and grabbed the coke shikume was offering. "you know, you might be right about the Neko thing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Yuki'll figure it out eventually. you dont live here and not realize your different."
"Are you okay, Marcus?" asked Yuki, almost afraid of the answer. People didn't just start coughing up blood, disappear, and come back five minutes later. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Jake watching her somewhat nervously. I can't believe I'm the almost-normal one in this group, she thought to herself. Out loud, she said, "Maybe we should all take a rest, if you're not feeling well." Lame, she thought, but if Yuki voiced her real suspicions, they would think she was crazy. ((Sorry for taking so long :) ))
((Haha, it's ok. :D)) Marcus looked a bit guilty and answered her. "Nah, I'm fine," he said, smirking again. "Let's get something to eat." The group walked to a local fish restaurant named 'The Salmon Shack' and went in. They sat at a booth with Jake at the end of the table. Marcus sat next to him. Leaning over, Marcus whispered, "Jeez, that was bad. That was the first blood-birthing incident in eight months!" He sat back and sighed. "Thanks for covering for me bro." he said, looking at Jake. Suddenly he smiled. "How did it feel to stretch?" he asked.
"I guess you have a point," Shikume said with a smile, "Sooner or later, she'll discover herself and her abilities, but I still want to try and see if I can't start something by showing her my wings."
Jake let out sigh of relif when Yuki excepted their explaination. At the booth Jake wishpered to Marcus, "No promblem man. You okay? After all it was your first blood birthing in awhile." At Marcus's question Jake smiled, "It was awsome. I so needed it."
"Yeah, I'm good," Marcus replied, smiling. "You definitely needed a stretch after such a while." He looked at Yuki, grinned, and said, "I hope you like fish!" Suddenly, he peered over at Marshall, who was looking at Yuki blankly. He was about to say something, but left it alone. He's probably just analyzing her, he thought. He does that with the new people.
Marshall saw girl being laughed at. She was all alone. Her eyes were tearing up. She ran away. Marcus snapped back into reality. Realizing he'd been staring at Yuki, he moved his gaze to the pier. He thought he heard Yuki say something, but he was too startled by his dream. Then looking at Yuki again he saw the similarities between the girl and Yuki. That's not possible, Marshall thought, but they're look like mirror images!
Jake saw Marshall snap back into reality. Worried, Jake wanted to say something, but they were in a booth, he couldn't just roll over. The waitress, Katie, came over, like Jake said, he knew everyone in town. "Hi Katie!" Jake said, being his friendly self. "I'll take a chocalate shake, fries, a grilled cheese, and a side of coleslaw."
Marcus smiled, watching his friends order meals. Katie looked at him. "The usual I assume, Marcus?" she asked. "Nah," he replied, thinking that he shouldn't eat for a while because of the 'incident'. "Just water please." he said, smiling. "So how are you enjoying Vista?" he asked Yuki.
Scanning the menu blankly, Yuki realized that she hadn't the faintest idea what any of these dishes were. She decided on the most familiar thing to her-- a California roll-- and was just about to wave over a waitress when Marcus' voice jolted her out of her stupor. "So, how are you enjoying Vista?" he had said. Yuki jumped, embarrassed. "It's really nice so far. But what I really want to talk about is you. Are you sure you're okay?"
