Jake grimaced. He had to tell them. He had to. Jake looked down and shivered. He had always been told, never tell anyone about your mother, say no procheys you hear, tell no one! Jake sighed and looked up around the tabel. "I know I acted weird today. Sorry. But I did have my reasons."
((Again, sorry for being off so much, I've been busy with a lot of stuff lately...))
Marcus played with his fork as the others talked. He was deep in thought, thinking about all the things that had happened lately. He heard what Jake said and looked up. "It's fine Jake, don't worry about it." Marcus told him. Going back to the fork, the waitress walked up. "May I take your orders?" she asked the group at the table.
Yuki opened her mouth to urge Jake to continue, but that was when the waitress appeared. They all ordered their food quickly, though Aislin took a while to debate between eggs benedict and pancakes. Finally, everyone had finished ordering, and the waitress walked away. Yuki, meanwhile, decided to try again. "It's okay, Jake. We were just all worried about it." She wondered what reasons he had, but decided not to pry.
Shikume finally decided to learn what he had missed. "Okay, when I was KO'd by that branch I was certain that I sensed Lucas fighting with you guys, but once I woke up, his presance was gone and that new demon was here. So what I'm asking is what happened to everyone?" After this he sat back and took a drink from his cup of water nervously awaiting an answer.
Jake wasn't ready to tell, but knew he needed to. Startled by Shikume's question Jake laughed. "It's a long story my friend. Basicaly, the short version, Lucas just appeared while we were doing a scavenger hunt. We fought for awhile and when Marcus,Nate and I all hit at the same time, he disappeared. We were all pretty shook up and Marcus vomitted up a blood birthing. We went home and then came back to fight it. I, um," Jake coughed, he didn't like this part. "I asked it who it's master was and where he was. Then Nate said a word and it disappeared." Jake looked down and back up. "Now that Shikume is caught up, i do, well not want to, but I need to tell you guys why I did what I did." Jake urged.
Aislin sat up in her chair, eager to hear Jake's story. She glanced over at Yuki for a moment, who was fidgeting in her chair. The neko girl hadn't spoken up about her encounter with Lucas, and Aislin sensed that she had been kind of shaken up. She made a mental note to talk about it to her later and put down her menu, paying full attention. "Okay, Jake, go on. We're all ready to hear it."
Jake took a deep, shaky, breath. "My... My mother is an oracle." Jake looked up looking around the tabel into each of his friend's faces. "When I got home after fighting with Lucas she was in her oracle mode, so I rushed Marcus out of the room. The - the prochey she gave me was..." Jake looked down. He couldn't say it. He couldn't have his friends hate him as they would. Jake squeezed his eyes closed and said softly, "Your father is awakening. My mother is crying. He is the sign. You and you friends will die in vain."
Nste felt a shiver go down his spine. This was not a good prophecy. "what does it refer to exactly?? who is the Father??" nate asked trying to wrap his head around the prediction. Suddenly, his pancakes didnt look very appitising. Nate laid his fork down and leaned back.
Jake's eyes still shut, he forced himself to speak. "I don't know. I asked the demon, because I thought that mabey it was the sign. It said it's master was the creator. Who could that refer to?" Jake's head was down, and he still hadn't opened his eyes.
Yuki drew in a sharp breath. Suddenly, everything made sense, including the demon's strange behavior and Jake's quietness. She pushed her plate away, having lost her appetite. Her mind was racing. "All I can think of that might refer to the 'creator' or the 'father' is a creature that might be referred to as the father of all monsters. Maybe the 'creator' means the first monster, or demon. Or since it's a demon, maybe a devil...?" She trailed off in frustration, unable to put her finger on it. Yuki wasn't sure how, but a horrible idea had begun to form in her mind.
Nate felt an awful sense of foreboding in his gut. The Devil was not one ti mess with. He had been cast down, in hiding for centuries gaurded by hordes of angels who had volunteered their lives to this one task. If the Devil himself rose, hunmanity wouldnt make it. It was unlikely the planet would make it. The Dark Ne would destroy everything in His path. "Whoever this guy is, hes not going to be good.
Marcus nodded solemnly, glad he didn't order much to eat. "So..." he muttered. "What exactly will we do about this? Or will we do anything?" he asked. He wasn't really feeling well after the encounter with Lucas and the demon. "I think we should see if Jake's mom says anything else." he suggested. "Or whatever he thinks. Jake knows best." Marcus cringed and put a hand to his head. What's going on? he thought. His head was suddenly pulsing with pain and his muscles were on fire. "Hey, can we- ouch- hurry?" he asked the group, shakily standing and gripping the edge of the table. "I need to leave."
Jake looked up at Marcus, who was obivously in pain. "Uh, sure." Jake hadn't eaten anything, but then again, he wasn't really hungry. He left money for the whole tabel, he owed it to them. Once out of the diner he said, "My mom won't know anything, she doesn't even know she uttered a prophecy. But perhaps she knows about the mother part. Mabey its her birth mother? We never really talk about her." Jake started wheeling down the street to Jake's house. Jake dropped back to Marcus, "Hey are you okay?"
Marcus' vision was fading in and out, and he felt like he was gasping for air. "Yeah... Fine..." he panted as he heard Jake's voice faintly. Where were they? Out on the road? Marcus suddenly clutched his chest and fell to his knees. "What the..." he mumbled, but then his face hit the dirt and he saw black.
Marcus woke up with a start. "Where am I!" he immediately yelled as he looked around. "Wait- no. I can't be in this place." he muttered. He sat up and looked at the dark, twisted landscape around him. "Am I- dead?" he murmured, feeling his face and shirt. But, slowly emerging from the darkness, he saw a sillhouette. "And of course, you're here..." he said, comtempt in his voice.
Nate looked back just in time to see marcus collapse and then disappear. "fudge. fudge fudge fudge fudge." nate swore under his breath. "this isnt good no its really not giod gaah this is awful...." nate trailed off. this ciuldnt be happening. He couldnt be there wuth him. thatd just eb too much bad stuff in one morning
Yuki started after Marcus and Jake, worried that something serious had happened. The idea grew setadily stronger as she ran down the street after them, but suddenly she was hit with a wave of dizziness. Yuki crouched on the pavement, trying to regain her balance. A low roar was echoing in her ears, and black spots ate away at the edge of her vision. Yuki swayed and collapsed, blinking rapidly to try and remain conscious. Whoever this guy is, he is not going to be good. Nate's voice echoed in her head.
Jake jumped out of his chair and bent down to Marcus, refusing to except what he knew to be true. "Marcus get up. Get up now!" Jake's eyes were frantic, he was freaking out. You and your friends will die in vain... "No no no, its not that line!' Jake yelled.
Marcus stood, facing Lucas. "Why is it always you?" he sighed, standing up. "What happened to me? Did I die?" Lucas waved a hand. "Slow down Marcus, you're annoying when you talk too fast." he scolded. Marcus resisted the urge to punch him and continued to listen. Lucas continued. "You're in the demon world. Yes, you are in a 'death' state in the Overworld, but can go back if you talk to a certain someone." A gruesome smile crept across Lucas' face. "And that certain someone is about to make his return. That's another reason I've been visiting." Lucas motioned for Marcus to follow him. "Walk with me." As much as Marcus hated his dad, he knew it was smart to listen to him. And as strong as the devil was, Lucas wanted to be stronger. Marcus followed him into a tunnel. "So how long'll this take?" he asked. "As long as you make it take." Lucas replied. Marcus sighed. Guys, don't worry about me. he thought. Don't waste your time on me, I'll be back soon.
Jake bent over Marcus worried. Fumbling, he felt for a pulse, Jake grabbed Marcus's wrist. Jake waited for his pulse, one second, two seonds, three seconds... Jake dropped Marcus's wrist after fiveteen seconds. Jake gentaly picked up Marcus's limp body. "My house is the closest." Jake said flatly.
((I presume no pulse...?))
Aislin sprinted down the street towards Marcus and Jake. "Is he okay?" she asked frantically. She noticed that his chest appeared still, though that could have been a trick of the light. The part of Aislin that was a kitsune became skittish, sensing the strange aura around Marcus. "Could it be...?" she mumbled, too frightened to consider the possibility. She couldn't tell what was happening inside his head, but she knew it wasn't good.
