((bump. It says u posted.....))
((well that's because TI is dumb sometimes just a sec))
Seth smiled faintly, keeping a grip on the rope, allowing her to go down before him.
Vidias synthetic muscles had no problem with the climb down. Once at the end of the rope, she let herself drop the rest of the way and stood waiting for Seth.
Seth rapelled down the wall until the end of the rope, where he dropped off. Rapelling is much quicker than just sliding down.
Almost before Seth hit the ground, Vidia was walking. "Come on," she said. They'd have to pass security once they reached this next city. She wondered whether Seth would get through.
Seth nodded and jogged slightly to catch up to her. "Security. What kind of security?"
"Robot securtiy," she said. "They check to make sure we aren't fully human."
((feel free to embellish))
Seth nodded, "Then we could get in perfectly fine, I believe, becuase... we aren't fully human..."
"I've been in before," Vidia said. "The trick is showing so emotion."
((sorry that's all the creativity i gotz for now :P))
Seth nodded and went completely blank. "Alright... I'll just prepare myself now..."
The security gate loomed before them, broad and tall yet not as tall as the Wall ((oooh, rhyming)). The robots--deceptively human-looking--milled about, holding automatic rifles and looking cross.
Vidia stepped into the open, and walked up to one of the gates. "Vidia Amora," she said flatly, holding her arm out. A male-looking robot took her arm in an ice-cold grip and scanned the ID code embedded into Vidia's flesh. She remaind impassive as it was now Seth's turn.
Seth watched Vidia as she went through before approaching the gates. He held out his arm, and said as flatly as he could manage, "Seth Verge." The same robot scanned the ID code in his arm, and let him pass along with Vidia.
"Good job," Vidia murmured. "You're...good at that." Her compliment felt dead. She tried to smile, once they were a ways away, but it failed too. She gave up and started running again, their next destination a safehouse in the next town. They wouldn't have to pass any more barriers until they reached the humans.
Seth nodded slightly before taking off running after her, still not sure exactly where they were going, just running, because that's really all he knew to do. Run.
Vidia slowed to a walk. The scenery was bleak, but safe. There were no patrols out. It was just the countryside. She looked at Seth, and broke into a rare grin. "We made it." It was okay to be themselves now.
Seth smiled, but not because they'd made it, but because Vidia was grinning. It was pretty on her, the smile, but exceedingly rare. He wanted to ask her to smile more oftne, but feared that the smile would turn into a glare, and no longer kind to him.
"So tell me about yourself," Vidia said. Her word were a command, but her tone was surprisingly soft and cheerful. A huge weight had been relieased from her shoulders--they'd crossed the border between "civilization" and wilderness....to freedom. She smiled again, hardly able to stop herself. "What facility were you..born...in?"
"I was born in the Gregory Facility," Seth sighed in response. (I'm making shi.t up right here). "It was a little further east from where I met you, further than a human can walk in a day I suppose, but I could manage it."
Vidia frowned. "I've never heard of it before." She shrugged. "I was born at the Shyan Facility, where the first of us were made." She pointed to a road up ahead. "We have to take this for ten miles, and then we can rest."
Seth nodded. That distance wasn't bad, not bad at all. Not even slightly. "Huh, I've never really heard anything of the other facilities... they were all dead when I finally woke up."
