Resa went right to work treating his wound. "My name is Theresa."
He glared at her with a slight disbelief. "Beck Austin."
She grimaced, looking up into his face. "You're...the hero everyone has been talking about?"
He swallowed and nodded, giving a decent smile. "Yep..."
Resa smirked. "You pretend, don't you?" She shook her head. "I saw the way you were earlier...you're not used to this kind of stuff."
He pretended to scoff. "Of course I'm the "Real deal". What else would I be if I'm going to go slay something right now?"
Resa rolled her eyes. "Beck, you're a fake. Your stories are fake. And I heard about the king wanting you to slay the dragon rulers. You're going to die."
Beck glared aimlessly at the horizon and cocked and eyebrow. "Well that's one way to put it."
"But, considering you just saved me from ra.pe and death, I feel myself obligated to serve you." She looked into his eyes. "Beck Austin, I will accompany you in this journey and teach you the arts of becoming a true hero."
He looked at her for a moment before he burst out in laughter. "Ya, mhmm, sure sweety."
Resa slapped him, hard.
He stood up in surprise. "What the..."
"That's for insulting me earlier." Resa informed him. "And for your lack of faith. Besides, how much choice do you have? You need all the help you can get."
He glared at her and calmly said, "First off, that was all a big joke. I was hoping to distract them. Second, what in the heck could you teach me?"
"Well, I CAN fight, just not outnumbered five to one." She said first. "And not without a weapon." Resa sighed. "I can teach you things, Beck. If you'll listen."
He glared at her. "Fine, but on my terms."
"What terms?" Resa asked.
"You can't get in the way. You eat and drink what I give you without complaint. We stop and rest when I say. You don't say anything unless I allow it."
Resa crossed her arms. "I'm not a dog, Beck." She said flatly. "I will eat, drink, and rest when and what you say. In the company of others, unless it is to assist you when you need it, I shan't speak without permission. In battle I shan't get in your way. Any other conditions?"
He shrugged and glanced at his side. "You said you wanted help, I say my terms."
