"Maybe coming here was a mistake..." Gabriel said, just loud enough for her to hear.
Gabriel's words made her freeze. They'd only been here one night and he already wanted to leave her. She opened the door so he could see her tear stained face. "Maybe it w-was." she whispered.
Gabriel shook his head, looking up at her. "Mason, do you love me? Do you care about my wellbeing?"
Mason swallowed and looked down at her feet not evening caring that she was half naked. "If you have to ask that maybe it really was all a mistake." she barely whispered more tears flowing from her eyes.
"Answer me Mason." Gabriel mumbled.
"Obviously. But if you seriously need me to tell you that maybe this whole thing was a mistake!" she yelled and angrily wiped tears from her eyes and cheeks.
Gabriel shook his head. "You can't leave a human alone all day with absolutely nothing to do." He said softly. "Even in prisons they give you something. It's just...when I'd rather be in a prison than here, there's a problem that needs fixing. You act like it's nothing. Like it's not a big deal. But Mason, I'm just trying to get you to care."
Mason didn't understand. To her bringing him here and saying she loved him was enough. She didn't know how to be in a real relationship; this was her first. "I... I'm s-sorry." she whispered looking down at her feet. She willed no more tears to come though she looked like she'd been scolded.
"You need to redefine what's important to protect the relationship we have." Gabriel told her. "Mason, I love you and I want to be with you. But being with you requires you actually being here, with me. Not just when we sleep but spending time with me. I can understand going and doing things with Toff without me from time to time, but that doesn't give you permission to do this again."
"I'm sorry.. I guess I wasn't thinking." she spoke in a defeated tone and made her way to the opposite side of the bed where she sat down on the edge, rubbing her arm.
Gabriel laid back on the bed, looking up at the cieling. "I really do love you..." He mumbled. "I'm sorry I got so upset, it was more than needed."
"S'fine." Mason whisper-mumbled. She pulled her legs to her chest, feet on the edge of the bed under her, arms around her legs.
Gabriel chewed his lip. "I love you..."
Mason was silent for a moment. She grabbed a t shirt from the floor and slipped it on. "I love you too." she said quietly.
Gabriel looked at her. "Mason...are we okay?"
She laid down looking up at the ceiling, feeling his eyes on her. "Yeah." she still whispered.
Gabriel moved to her side and put an arm around her, kissing her cheek. "I love you..."
Mason glance at him when he showed some affection. "I love you too." she told him trying to stay calm and breathe.
Gabriel closed his eyes. "I'm sorry..."
"It's fine." she whispered turning away from him. Mason wasn't used to having such strong emotions when someone got upset with her so she didn't know how to process it all.
