Jack watched her go with a frown. He looked back at Cassidy with a silent look that asked Can we leave now?
He glanced back up at Desmond as well, eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"Hey, wait." Desmond called after her. "There is no way you'll be able to get to Kade." He couldn't let this girl go run off to get captured. He may as well kill her now so she wouldn't have to deal with Aberdeen. "You won't be able to reach him until the Aberdeen Republic falls."
"It won't." Cassidy said. "It won't fall unless someone backs Sands up." But even then, Sands was barely a better choice of leader compared to Aberdeen. "Or takes both of them down from the inside, and in order to do that, we'll be needing resources. California is our last hope."
"But that's what Kade and I—and this side of the rebellion—have been trying to do! Knock the dictators down one by one, starting with our own fathers!" Alina looked at the group who eyed her like she was insane. "How could California be of any help?"
Jack let out a huff of air, crossing his arms over his chest. This was getting deeper. Deeper than he preferred. He wasn't trying to take down any government, or win any war. He was just trying to keep his little sister safe. He fidgeted nervously.
"They have guns, and they resources. They have people. They have technology. They would be able to protect you and Kade, you just need to bring them something they can use." Desmond explained, trying to reason with her. If it came down to it, he would knock her out and tie him up The rebels don't have the resources or fire power to make a difference. The California Confederation does. You're no use to Kade in his father's torture chamber."
"Screw this Kade kid, there are a lot of people sufferin out there, Aberdeen needs to be stopped. He has far to much power for a demon." Cassidy interjected. If Desmond was who he said he was, he would know a lot about Aberdeen's army. He could be the key to saving the Feral territory.
Alina sighed. She saw the sense in what they were saying.... And he fact that more people needed help than just Kade struck a chord in her. She was supposed to be fighting for the masses anyways. It was time she refocused. Kade could handle himself. "Alright," she said, flipping her blades in the air and catching them. "When are you heading out to California?"
Right now! Jack wanted to shout. But he just cleared his throat. He started to count his darts with his fingers, over and over again, the way he did when he was nervous.
Cassidy looked at Jack and noticed how anxious he was. She didn't blame him. It had gotten a lot worse back home since he had left, and there was nothing more horrible then not being able to do anything about it. "I've been headin out for a few months now." Cassidy said. "It will probably take just over a week to cross the mountains, and if we move now, we'll get to the foot hills in a few days time."
Alina lifted her chin. "Mind if I join you? I know my father's secrets as he knows mine now....it's time to learn some new tricks." She smiled a wicked smile. "Build some new connections... And a new resistance." She looked to (Desmond) and (Cassidy) and (Jack). "Let me repay my life debt. I'll be lookout at night, whatever you want." She searched their eyes for any sign of acceptance. "My name is Alina. You might not know that.... My father usually keeps my identity secret."
Jack finally just started to walk away, silently. He wasn't going to waste any more time waiting. Every moment he spent here was a little farther from California. Another moment Rose was in danger.
Cassidy nodded briefly and followed after Jack. It couldn't hurt to have the two of them come along. Sure, Cassidy and Jack would be faster by themselves, but it never hurt to have a bargaining chip.
"Come on, let's just get to California then we can talk about debt." Desmond said. "The gun fire is gonna get someone on our trail, friendly or otherwise. We gotta go." He said, following after Cassidy and Jack.
((Is there still room for me?))
((Of course there is! Make a character and we'll find a way for you to join in.))
((OK, I will, may take a while, but I'll post it later today...girl or? Or does it not matter? And is there an age range?))
((We're even with gender, so it doesn't matter, and there's no age range. The oldest is in his thirties and the youngest is 17.))
((OK so I can't go any lower than 17? Or is that just the ages of the people here now?))
((No, you can go lower then seventeen if you want.))
Jack kept walking, satisfied that they were all moving at last. He moved faster, walking silently. He slid his knife-darts back into their place on his belt, but he kept his hand on his belt, in case.
((Was Alina accepted? I can't tell))
((Yeah, Alina was accepted.))
