Ella arrived just fast enough to see someone help him to his place then leave. She managed to keep hidden till she left then headed down to Jaq. "Hi." She said sweetly, "how did you sleep?" He seemed sad again before she spoke to him. She watched carefully for his reaction as she sat beside him on the rock.
Jaq's face lit up when he heard Ella's voice, her barely there footsteps, and the sound of her sitting beside him.
"Hello, Ella." He said, smiling wide and happy. "I slept...well. And you?"
"Same," Ella told him though it was a lie. She had nightmares as she always did. The same horrid thoughts cursing her mind. "How did you know it was me? Just by my voice?" She asked, he had only met her once. Did he learn that fast? Or was there something about her that made him remember?
"Well...I've never heard footsteps, or a voice as light and pretty as yours." He smiled at her, tilting his head towards the sound of her voice. Her soft, beautiful voice.
Ella was extremely glad he couldn't see her blush. She glanced down at her hands, her face was heated incredibly. It was for sure wa to the touch now. "Thank you, Jaq. You are incredibly sweet. I'm very glad I met you." She said softly not looking up from her hands.
"And I'm glad I met you." Jaq smiled a little wider. "I like making new friends. I'm lonely a lot. It's not bad, but...It's always nice to have another friend." After a moment, he jerkily, hesitantly started to move his hand, feeling around carefully for her hand. The string that trailed from his wrist dragged over the rock as he moved his hand.
Ella almost gasped, he wanted to hold her hand? She covers her mouth with the hand furthest away with him then carefully placed the other over his. She then leaned over to lay her head on his shoulder. She really didn't believe what was happening. He seemed to actually like her for who she was. That was crazy, she didn't find a thing about herself likable.
Jaq felt himself blush a little, and he reluctantly started to pull his hand away.
"I-I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to...mean to..." He took a deep breath. "Y-you have nice hands..."
Ella noticed his blush, "I like holding your hand." She whispered as he started to pull away. And the truth was she did, he was nicer to her than anyone had been before, even tough he had no reason to be.
"A-are you sure?" Jaq asked quietly. His hand went still for a moment, then started to creep back towards her slender fingers. "I don't want to be rude..."
"Very sure." Ella whispered, "do you like it?" She wondered for a second if she was bothering him by laying on his shoulder. She then sat up, pulling away blushing.
"I-I like holding hands with people." Jaq paused for a moment. He frowned a little when he felt her pull away from him. "It's okay to lean on me, you know."
"I don't." Ella murmnered, so it wasn't just her. He would hold hands with anytoy. ((Get it? Like anybody? Hahaha I'm sleepy. :p)) she was about to say something when he said it was okay for her to lean on him, she decided to keep that thought to herself and lauded her head back down onto his shoulder.
"I-I can't see...So holding hands is a little like seeing...It's special to me." He flashed her a smile. "And your hands...your hands feel extra special. You must be really special."
Ella got a idea, she picked up his hand and pressed it to the side of her face, "now you can see me." She whispered. She closed her eyes, just absorbed in feelings and thoughts.
Jaq's jaw went slack as he felt her face under his hand. No one had ever let him get so close, no one had ever let him touch their face. He reverently ran his fingers over her face, tracing her features carefully.
"You are extra special." He finally whispered.
"I'm glad you think so." Ella whispered "now, I believe I promised you a walk." She leaned into his hand as she said the words, not making a move to get up. His hand felt so warm on her skin, not physically warm but when he touched her it seemed to heat the skin. Her stomach twisted at his words, he thought she was special. And that warmed her heart most of all, he thought she was special for something other than her dancing. No one had ever said that before.
"Yeah...A walk..." Jaq said dazedly. He kept his hand on her cheek, on her face. It felt...nice. So nice to be so close to someone. He had never been this close to someone before, not ever. He slowly started to move his other hand hesitantly to her face, his movements jerky and uncertain.
Ella didn't move, she noticed that he started to move his other hand and she made no move to stop him. She only closed her eyes slightly, it felt nice to be in his touch. Nicer than anyone else's.
Jaq's hand felt around in empty air for a moment before he finally found the other side of her face. He took a deep breath as he gently caressed her face, a look of curious happiness crossing his face.
