Jaq sat there, his mouth opening in surprise as he felt Ella lean on him. He smiled hesitantly. No one, not even Tuff or Rags had ever been so close to him. Oddly enough, it felt...nice.
((Bump! This is not allowed to leave page one! Lol))
Ella didn't think anything about being close to him, she was often very close to others. She was almost always hugging Ted, he was like a brother. She would almost always link her arm in with his as they played and went on walks to see the sea. Closeness wasn't a big deal to her. She hummed softly, just a simple ballet tune.
((Sorry! I collapsed in bed! *offers apology cookie*))
((What is up with all these old threads? Anyway, bump!))
"That's a pretty song." Jaq said quietly, after a moment of silence. He stayed still, just sitting there and feeling how close Ella was to him with a slight smile. The closest anyone had gotten to him was to take his hand when he walked, to guide him around.
Ella stopped humming, not noticing she was ever doing it. "Oh...it was the moonlight sonata by beethoven... One of my favorites..." She smiled, he seemed so incredibly sweet, why did anyone just let him sit here alone? Ted was likely wondering where she was, it was almost sunset. "I have to go..." She said sadly, though she didn't pull away. "Will you meet me here tomorrow? At sunset?" She asked, hopefully he would, she would hate to never see him again.
"I don't generally move." Jaq said, still smiling slightly as he shrugged. The shrug was made heavy by the strings trailing from his shoulders, but he paid it no mind. It was always like that. "I don't really have anywhere else to go."
Ella inspected the strings... They must be heavy? She pulled away to look at him, "why don't you go anywhere? I'm sure lots of other toys would love to play with you and be your friend. You seem like such a sweet person."
((So I'm already planning a evil twist, I'm thinking that later on in the story after he falls for her another toy could show up... A handsome Ken doll and he would dance with Ella and then she has to choose between what she has always wanted or the marionette she has learned to love.... I'm such a planner:p))
((Stupid thing hit post, anyway so what do you think of the idea? If you hate it I have 10900 more.))
((Ooooh! :D I love it!))
"Oh, I have friends. I have a few friends." Jaq kept smiling pleasantly, though not happily. "They visit me, sometimes. And take me on walks." He smile a little wider. "Though, I guess it's pretty hard to take me on walks."
"I'd take you on a walk... You know what? I'll take you on one come next sunrise if you'd like. I'd be happy to do it, you are fun to talk to." Ella told him sweetly, he seemed so sad. His sadness shattered her heart into one hundred pieces.
((Sorry I'm taking so long. My phone hates me. ))
((Ah, yes. I understand. :) ))
Jaq's smile got a little brighter, a spark of actual happiness sliding into his face. "Really?" He asked quietly. "I like taking walks."
"If you like them then I'll be here to take you on one." Ella noticed that he looked almost happy, had her offering him to go on a walk meant that much to him? Was he that alone? She really didn't want to go but knew she had to, "I'll see you tomorrow Jaq." She said softly then stood up to leave.
"Goodbye, Ella." Jaq kept smiling, sitting still where he was. He tilted his head towards her voice, listening to it's quiet sound. "You have a pretty voice."
Ella couldn't help but smile, no one had ever called her pretty before, even if it was just her voice. "Thanks... Until tomorrow." Then she dashed off. He was so sweet, it crushed her that he was alone.
Ella arrived back to Ted. "I was so worried about you? Where were you?" He asked. Ella smiled, "I was just taking my walk alone thinking and I lost track of time." She wasn't going to tell Ted about Jaq. He would likely be afraid for her safety.
Jaq stayed where he was. His smile hadn't even faded the smallest bit. He stayed there for a long, long, long time, still smiling as Rags finally came to take him home. He was still silently smiling when she took his hand and started to pull him off.
"What are you so happy about?" She asked as she carefully stepped over one of his strings, partway teasing, partway curious.
"It's been a good day." Jaq replied quietly. He shuffled forward carefully, following the sound of Rags' voice.
"Yeah." Jaq didn't say any more than that. He didn't know why. He just...didn't. He could still remember the sound of Ella's voice, and it made him smile wider still.
"Can you take me back here tomorrow?"
Once Ella had convinced Ted nothing had happened she headed into her small house to cuddle into the handcrafted bed, with the blankets she made herself. They were very soft and warm, also quite fuzzy. She closed her eyes to dream of pink slippers.
Jaq started to drift off to sleep as Rags tucked him in, carefully pulling his blanket up around around him before telling him goodnight and going back to her own little home. He dreamed of quiet voices and nice little walks where he ran free of the strings that dragged on the ground behind him.
Ella awoke the next morning just before sunrise. She found her tutu in a chair then decided against it putting on a long flowy skirt instead, it was more comfortable and he couldn't see her anyway. As the sun was peeking its way through the clouds she made up her bed then started out of the cabin like house.
Jaq stayed patiently silent as Rags helped him to walk back to where he had been the day before. He wanted to beg her to hurry, and he nearly burst with frustration every time his strings snagged or caught or slowed him down, which was a lot. But he finally made it. Rags bid him goodbye after carefully helping him to sit down against the same tree.
