I walked out of the room just in time to see Lexi being her ignorant self. "Wow. Sorry you feel so stupid in your boyfriend's presence. Though I wouldn't really. He would have to be completely stupid to stay with you after you soaped him around this morning." I snapped at Lexi before I could stop myself. "I would have hit you back twice as hard if I was him." Then I kept walking, not really caring what she thought of me. Someone needed to lit her in her place.
My jaw drops slightly at Kit. Did she just say what I think she just said? I look at Lexi, and give her a shug that is supposed to say, 'I have no idea', but before I can say anything, she has stormed off. I start to call out to her, but decide it isn't worth it. I look the other way down the hall and see Kit walking away. I swallow hard and kinda run to catch up with her. I fall in step with and, smile slightly, willing my cheeks to not turn red.
"Hey, thanks." I say to Kit, "I'll see you around?"
"Boy you got that right! They also don't like creativity or anyone who actually thinks. So who is your room mate?" I ask, smiling at Samantha. I know I should be going soon to get to my next class, but who cares about Government class anyway?
The Austrailian act has been going terrific. I really do think that new girl believed it.
Next class is Algebra, but I've decided to blow it off and feed to my serious addiction.
I go to the older wing of the school and find my usual secret passageway that leads to the rooftop. Once I get there, I sit in my usual spot and pull out my pirated copy of "Merchant Of Venice". It's one of the very few plays I have now. My mom used to have tons she got off of the black market. I always loved reading plays. It's my escape from this dull and uncreative school.
So I prance around the rooftop pretending to be different characters, Lorenzo to Shylock and even Portia!
After I feel as though I've had my fix of drama for the day, I begin to make my way back down the passage way and through the halls. My brain is still dancing with the beautiful diction and phrases. I become so distracted, I don't even realize the Dean was standing there until I run right into him dropping my play on the ground.
I'm in trouble.
"No problem. She needed to be put in her place. I don't know why you put up with her this morning. She was making a joke out of you and you just let her." I said as I kept walking down towards the 'independent study room' yea right, That was just where they stuck you when they couldn't find another place. I didn't really expect a response, though part of me wanted one. Really badly.
I watch as a student runs into me, no not just any student. It had to be the student I hate the most. Sure if my little girl got a new boyfriend I'd hate him, likely more than this, but for now nothing could compare to how I felt about the liar. Oh and he has a play. Even better. I pick it up and look into his eyes, "why do you have this?" I ask sternly. This kid is really something else.
"Well you know... Hey I should get to class." I say, unsure what to say to Kit, he.ll I would love to ditch Lexi and the rest, but I can't... or could I? I am deep in thought and not paying attention to the world around me when I realize I am still walking next to Kit.
"Oh!" I say, looking up, "Sorry, well bye! See you around!" I say again and turn the other way even though my next class is actually the direction Kit is walking. I decide to loop back around. As I walk away, I feel a small smile on my face. I turn to look back at Kit, almost hoping she will be looking back at me.
"Kit Petite" I read aloud. I look up to Piper for input.
I don't even think before my response. It just sort of...comes out.
"Why do YOU have this?"
AHhhh the mimic approach. This will never work, but it will sure be comedic to try.
((Im going to have go really soon. Im sorry! This is really fun!))
"Man oh man!" I say my eyes wide, "It has been nice knowing you." I say looking at Samantha with concern, "she's the girl who was in your class." I whisper as if Kit can hear me, "red hair, black boots. Um... good luck!" I smile reasuringly at Samantha though it is a forced smile and may be more of a grimace.
"Well, I have class I should go." I say and sprint off down the hall, forgetting to ask if Samantha needs help finding her next class.
((Ok goodnight guys. Again, Im sorry. Bye))
I glance back at him, slightly baffled, then I take notice he saw me look at him. Shoot. I quickly duck into my class then take a seat in one of the teachers chairs. I loved this class. The teacher and my dad are really good friends, and on top of that it is a independent study class. Could it get any better? I wonder slightly who else is in this class, that I never bother to attend.
"Listen parrot. I really don't have time for this. I have places to go and people to see. If you will, I will keep your script and gladly be adding your name to my papers for detention. Be there." I said then walked off. I didn't have time for that. Who did? There wasn't any hope for that kid.
I now have to walk all the way around the school building, I will most likely be late again. But at least this gives me time to think, Lexi? Kit? Samantha girl? I walk through the halls, wondering about all sorts of things, a smile spreading across my face at anyone I meet, I have to keep up the facade; the mask at least a little longer, we will see how long it lasts though. As I trudge my way to Latent History class I think about what life must be like for the Giants. Are their lives like ours? Do they have problems with girls and school and life?
As I walk down the hall, I see someone up ahead and swallow hard. I adopt a look of innocence as best I can as I walk towards Mr. Petite, trying to look cool.
I walk through the hall, very upset. Why were these students so.... Stupid? No, that wasn't the right word... I don't even know what they are but the clench every single one of my last nerves. I notice a kid coming towards me. Austen? I never really bothered with names much unless something happened to make me remember them. What was he doing out? "Do you need any help?" I ask, assuming the best of him.
When the teacher walks in I smile, then head out if the classroom. I walk through the halls just intime to see my father. I was about to talk to him but I see he is speaking with someone else. I duck behind the curve in the wall and watch....
"Uh, no, sir." I say, smiling a broad and toothy smile at him, "I'm just on my way to class now." I know I will be late now. Why does this always happen? I start out on time but end up being late no matter what. I try to think of a plausible excuse, my mind racing around, I don't want to end up with another detention this week.
So much for assuming the best of everyone. I was about to say something when I saw someone around the corner. "Who else is out here?" I heard myself sigh.
I think inside my mind one thing: busted. No not that I was out of class but that I was snooping around the corner. And not busted with my father, but with Austen. "Daddy!" I heard myself say as I walked over to him. "Sorry I startled you, I wished to converse with you but didn't want to hinder or to interrupt your current conversation with another student." I said all this in a cheerful voice, not looking at Austen. No telling what he thought of me now.
The bell rings to end the day. I check my scheduel to see what's next.
30 minutes of "Leisure Time"
One Hour Of Structured Physical Activity.
I figure I'll use my half hour to unpack into my new room. I just hope Kit got the message I'm her roommate now...otherwise things could get very awkward ver fast.
I find the boarding area with no problem and climb the stairs to the top level where I find my room.
It's a very nice room, very orderly and clean. One half (I'm assuming it's mine) is completely untouched.
I drop my bags onto my new bed and begin filling the empty dresser with my clothes.
I raise my eyebrows at Kitl 'Daddy'? really? Hey, she got me out of what was sure to be a nasty detention, but now I really gotta get to class.
"Well, I'll see you around, Mr. Petite." I say before he can react to my leaving. I smile at Kit, my face darkening to a pinkish color and I duck away, trying not to look like I'm running. I hurry into my History class and sit down in the back by the door again. Again trying to look realxed and cool, but really my heart is pounding. I nod at one of the guys and wink at a random girl, trying to calm myself down. I look up at the teacher, hoping I won't meet the death stare, drat, there it is.
After a short conversation with my father I bolt to my dorm. I slam the door shut then craw onto my bed. What I really needed was a good cry. Then... "Who the h.ell are you?" I all but screech at the girl in my room.
I watch as the kid runs off... Not worth chasing after. I have a quick conversation with Kit then I head to my office to write up the detention slip for the parrot. I can't remember his name though.... "Melissa!" I say to the secretary, "what's the name of that kid that lying kid? Oh and what about the one on the tables this morning?"
The door slam and her screech made me jump.
"I'm um.. uh..." I start to look around really frantically.
"I..uh....um.. did that secretary ever catch up with you?"
New investigation underway. After finding out about the chili, I have decided not to look into the school's food for a while, since if I keep it up I doubt I will be able to eat anything here. So now my investigation takes me into the dangerous waters of the Teacher's Lounge. I feel the need to either discredit or confirm the rumours about the flat screen TV which is supposedly hooked up to cameras hidden in every dorm room. I have searched my own dorm a lot and can not find anything that might be a hidden camera but I could have over looked something. As I walk down the hall, a deerstalker Sherlock Holmes hat tucked under my arm and a magnifying glass comcealed under my jacket, I have to pass the student dorms. I here a sudden out burst form behind one of the doors and with horror realize it is Kit Petite's dorm. She must have just gotten the news that she will have a room mate. I press my ear to the door, deciding to stay in case Samantha needs any help.
"No she didn't. Clearly. Use your observation skills." I huffed sitting up on my bed. A roommate? This means she will see my mural on my wall.... With the butterflies all in black and gray... Not good. "Anyway, lets start over. Hi. I'm Kit, my close friends call me Kitty. Shocker, no one calls me Kitty." I give her a smile than walk across the room making sure I had everything of mine put away. "Ground rules." I start, "the door is on your side therefor you should never have to touch this side of the room. Secondly keep it clean. I hate messes. Thirdly, don't snore. Don't." I say simply picking up a rubix cube the only single colored object. "Can you assume other basic things or do you need a chart?"
