"No one deserves to die. It's just the wrong place at the wrong time.," Onyx put his handon Kai's shoulder not knowing what exactly to do.
Kai leans into his touch slightly, sighing. She jumps a bit as the bell signalling the end of school - for the seniors, at least - rang out.
"So you're staying in my classroom?" Onyx moved aside as his students left for the day.
"Yeah, I am," Kai says quietly, running a hand through her hair. "I mean, unless you'd rather I don't..."
"I have no problem with it. I'll be busy, but if you need me, let me know," and with that, Onyx slipped back into his room and sat at his desk, going through papers, looking for his answer keys.
Kai sighs, walking back into the classroom. "I... I can help grade the papers and whatnot..." she offers.
"Sure. If you want to," Onyx smiled, and handed her a stack of papers, a key, and a red pen.
Kai sits at one of the desks, methodically going through the papers and grading them, tucking a loose strand of red hair behind her ear.
Onyx occasionally found himself looking up and staring at Kai. 'No. That looks bad, you idoit!!!!' he scolded himself for doing it. He tried to focus on his work, but the crimson haired girl kept stealing his attention.
Kai bites her lip, pausing for a moment and shaking her head, looking as if she'd considered saying something. Best to keep her thoughts to herself, especially considering that he was her teacher. There was nothing more than that between them. She'd caught him looking at her a few times, but still... It was probably just to make sure she was doing okay.
Onyx sighed, trying to keep his mind focused on his grading. But his mind kept wandering to Kai. What did she think of him? Did she like him? Was she ok? He shook his head and switched to another stack of papers, trying to grade them properly.
Kai finally finishes her stack of papers, getting up and placing them on his desk before grabbing another.
"T-thanks," Onyx stumbles over his words. He blushed and looks intently at his papers, grading then furiously.
"Uhmm.. Yeah.... I.. Yeah, I'm fine. Are you ok?" Onyx tried to aviod her eyes and aviodthese feelings. He couldn't.... It wasn't allowed. He could get his teaching license suspended.
"Yeah. I'm alright," Kai replies, shaking her head slightly. She didn't know what to think about these feeling that were clouding her thoughts. Well, her logical thoughts, anyway.
"Good. But..... Nevermind," Onyx wanted to talk this out, ut he didn't wan to come across as a creeper. 'Please,' he thought, 'let her want to talk about this.'

"But what?" Kai asks, frowning slightly. "You can tell me... It's not like I really have anyone I could pass it on to..."
