"We'll, a kiss for humans means that you like that person and that you will think about a famiily with them. You don't have to though. It's just.... A kiss is a promise you will think about it." Liz wondered if she thought about that right. This was so confusing.
"...think about it?" Jason mumbled. "That's so strange...when you kiss someone, you promise to be with them until death. The male promises, less than a week later you mate, she kills you, child happens, and the child is left on their own. If they live through the walk of death, the get a nickname. It's a definite, set in stone thing. There is no thinking about it after the promise is made..." Jason explained. "Humans are so strange!"
"Not strange.... Just different..." Liz said leaning twords him a bit without knowing it. "What did our kiss mean to you?" She whispered when ting to know desperately.
Jason blinked at her. Hadn't he just explained? "It's an unbreakable promise...like a contract, that I'll stay with you 'till death. Humans are stra--er, different in their ways... So I guess it means ill stay with you forever and learn about emotions. It means i'll be like a human male. I promised to turn into your human mate," Jason mumbled softly.
"Does that mean you won't let anyone hurt me?" Liz heard herself whisper. She was still bubbling with shock. She had practically just sold herself to a demon, and she WASN'T UPSET! Today had really taken a turn.
Jason perked up and looked at her intensely. "People hurt you?" You could see the wheels turning as he remembered the condition he found her. "People hurt you!" He growled. Males protected thier mates, even though that seemed weird because the girls kill them... He pulled out his black dagger, still a little bloody from the bear, and held the blade vertically in between his eyes. Like warriors/ninjas do in movies. "I will dispose of their miserable lives for you. Where are they?"
"Calm down!" Liz told him in shock. "No one anymore. You can't get rid of them. It's my step father. Getting rid of him would hurt my mother." She placed her hand over her face, she didn't know if she was to be happy or afraid of her demon protector.
Reluctantly, he lowered his blade with a scowl. "You humans make no sense," he muttered. "You say mates love thier children. But the male hurts you. And the female does not kill him. She does not even allow someone else to. That is a contradiction..." He trailed off, deep in thought. "Selfish one and traitorous one. You have terrible...what did you call them? Mother? Father? You should leave them...if you will not allow me to assassinate them...."
"I don't have a choice. He will send a friend looking for me shortly. To find out if I'm still alive. Or to collect my body. My mother doesn't know that he does this. She thinks we went fishing... When truly he just wanted to..." Liz froze and thought it over "He wanted to force me to mate with him. I wouldn't. So he tried to kill me."
"Why are humans afraid of my kind when you have males like that? A demon would never force himself one a female. A vampire might, but a demon wouldn't. That human belongs in he.ll." Jason was pi.ssed. He didn't realize it, but between the bear soul and his predatorial instinct, he was pis.sed. "If he so much as tries to touch you..."
"Emotions.... You are feeling anger." Liz told him taking his hand. "And he won't touch me, I have you to protect me." Liz reassured him. "I'm not afraid of you."
"You were. Just like all the other humans and all the other species. Everyone fears demons... If only until a contract is made," Jason explained. "You're da.mn right he won't touch you," he huffed. "Are you certain I can't kill him? I don't want to just scare the shi.t out of him. That would be to lax a punishment....can I at least take him to be tortured? Please?" He was too preoccupied to really hear the thing about emotion.
"I was afraid of what you could do to me. That you would make me suffer before you killed me. Not you." Liz explained. "And no. You can't hurt him. Now I just have to decide what I'm going to do when he comes looking for me... I'll have to go back."
"I have heard stories of humans. Rosalyn told me. You are like the ones who stay with their blood...er...mother and father. How can I stay with you when you live with them? They... Do not like males staying with them and their female children. They do bad things," Jason mused.
I'll just have to go back, tell my mother I'm ok or.... I could not go back. I could stay away. I could never go back...." Liz thought this over. "But what if you get tired of me? Done with me? Then what?"
"I have made a covenant. I cannot leave you until one of us dies," Jason told her. "I do not understand. Step-father's death would hurt her... But yours would not?"
"I don't know. I told her I didn't like him and she chose him anyway. So I think his death would mean more." Liz thought for a second "You dont have to stayvwith me if you dont want. Its ok." Then she asked "Does that mean that when you tire of me you will kill me?" I did. Didn't it? What would he do when he was done with her?
"She is a selfish one, then. And stupid, too." Jason smirked. "If it was that easy to get out of a contract, they would mean nothing. I am physically unable to kill you, and demons cannot kill themselves." He moved in front of her and took her hand, like she had done his earlier. "You asked me for the promise, but I was the one who made it. I made it knowing full well all the conditions and requirements."
Liz watched him take her hand lightly. "What if I kill myself? Would you be happier?" Liz asked. She was almost sure he would. After all she was only a human with a soul not even enough for a demon to eat.
"What did I just tell you? Contracts are almost impossible to break. You don't just make one if you aren't completely fine with every aspect of it. I made the promise, I'm going to keep it. I agreed to make it because you are different from the other human. Jeez. Do all humans need things to be explained twice?" Jason mumbled.
