"Okay! Thanks! By the way I don't have the pendant on me! It's back at the building!" Cole turned to the direction of the building and ran to get the pendant.
Lynn blinked. “Seriously?” she muttered. She texted HQ. Hey, you know my pendent? It’s by the armory. Would you mind picking it up and meeting me on the corner of Elm and Tyle? Right now. Thank you. She darted to the aforementioned street corner. He texted back that he had the necklace and was on his way. Great. She was glad to have good connections with the boss.
Cole ran faster than fast, he was speeding past cars well considering that there was a traffic jam. But anyways Cole jacked and motorcycle and started speeding to the building.
Everything should be fine. The street corner was well past HQ. Cole wouldn’t pass it if he continued in his current direction. She climbed walls and took roundabouts until she reached the street. The boss came 79 seconds later with the familiar, tiny metal box. It was a precaution she had taken. Sure, the scientist could probably figure out how to open it, but it would take more than a second. It would waste some time. She took the box and walked away from HQ. “Thank you, sir. Oh—the scientist is on his way. You might want to greet him with some high caliber rounds and explosives. Have fun.”
Cole was there in time just to see Lynn take away the pendant, "NO! You cowardly fool!" That was when a guy came and started shooting at Cole. "Oh shi.t!" Cole lost balance and the motorcycle flipped. Cole was thrown away and he rolled on the ground. The motorcycle blew up and Cole stood up. He screamed. Cole took out his sonic screwdriver and dashed towards Lynn.
“Fu.ck,” Lynn muttered. She had brought out the mad in the mad scientist. He was coming at her, full speed, screwdriver in hand, screaming. Well, isn’t she just the picture of safety right now. After taking 3 seconds to process everything just mentioned, she darted across the street. You guys had better shoot him. I can’t outrun him. I’m screw.ed if you don’t shoot him. She briefly wondered if he would do anything to hurt her. Would he just take the pendent and go? Would he take her captive? Would he just brutally stab her with his stupid little screwdriver thing? She slid over a few cars and got across the street. There was another large building. She started to scale the side of it as fast as she could. Oh god, why does he have to be the way he is? Aren’t nerds typically stereotyped as un-athletic?
Cole stopped shortly, he was out of breath. Gasping for air. "I'm going to get you!" Cole pointed his screwdriver at the men with guns and made them explode. Shortly after he chucked at chunk of rock towards Lynn. It didn't reach. After a few more seconds Cole started running again at full speed, "this time, I'm going to catch up." Cole muttered.
When Lynn reached the top of the building, she took the time to glance over her shoulder. Cole had stopped and somehow disarmed everyone—probably with some crazy invention. There goes any chance of backup. He was running towards her again. She was out of breath, her lungs and muscles were already burning, but she wasn’t going to stop. Before he could climb up here, she wedged the pendant into a hole inside a chimney. One of the bricks had crumbled so that a small indentation was left. It was a good place to hide it. It might also give her some insurance, should he actually get the idea of harming her. She dashed over to estimate the distance to the next roof. It was manageable. She jumped and landed with an awkward roll.
Cole saw Lynn stop for a second, then he realized that she was going to jump to another building. Cole started running and scaling the building, "give me the pendant!"
“Why do you even want it?” Lynn gasped, running to jump to the next building. Hopefully she can keep this up.
"I don't know!" Cole said, "I just want it!" Cole was high enough to jump onto the building. Readying himself he jumped towards the roof and landed succesfully. Cole laughed and ran unaware that the pendant was back at the side of the building.
“What kind of reason is that?” Lynn used his crazy laugh to pinpoint where he was. She leaped to the next building. Hopefully the gaps don’t get any bigger.
"A good enough of a reason!" Cole yelled out as he hopped the buildings steadily reaching Lynn.
“It’s an ILLOGICAL reason! I thought you were supposed to be a scientist,” she glanced back to see that he had almost caught her. At least he wasn’t screaming anymore. She pulled out here dagger after leaping to the next building. It was there that she stopped, back against the chimney brick. She breathed heavy as she waited for him.
"You forget!" Cole yelled back, "I"m a MAD SCIENTIST!" Cole hopped over another gap. Cole was ready to pull out his screwdriver.
“Yeah, about that. Aren’t you a little young to be a mad scientist?” She gripped the knife tighter. Who knows how he’ll react when he realizes she doesn’t have the pendant. He could do anything, especially considering she’s not planning on telling him where it is. It’s a matter of pride.
"It lies withing the mind!" Cole replied loudly, he reached the final building and stood there for a moment. After he caught his breath Cole pointed at Lynn, "now..... Huff... Where's the huff... Then Pendant?"
Lynn raised her hands in surrender, put the blade between her teeth, and reached into her pocket. After that, she reached into the other pocket. Then, she looked in every place it might be, including her shoe. She took the knife out of her mouth. “I think I lost it…” She shrugged. “It’s a shame…I really liked that pendant…oh well,” she sighed.
"What?" Cole huffed, "I know you have, or at least you know where it is." Cole retraced his memory and analyzed for a hole. A possibility in which Lynn could have hidden, or done anything with the pendant. He thought back to scaling the wall, then he remembered the guys who were shooting at him. "Is the pendant with the people who fired at me?"
“No, don’t even think about running there with your screwdriver and attacking everyone. They have enough to deal with as it is. Plus, I know for certain it isn’t there. I hadn’t lost it then.” She started walking to climb down the building. “If you can find it, you can have it: fair and square. But I’m going to help my people.”
