I prefer to avoid the traditional vampire-human and vampire-werewolf thing, by the way, so that makes this a tad more difficult.

That would work. Should the setting be present-day, alternate present-day, or what? I'm more in favor of alternate present-day, but, well, it's a two-person thing.
