"Don't doubt me just yet. I'm not the kind to give up easily and in the end, I always win." He smiles and crosses his arms.
"I'm willing to test that statement," Kenzey states icily, another arrow nocked and drawn smoothly in seconds, aimed at his throat. "Believe me, I'm not as easy as you think."
"I didn't say you would be easy to take down..." He replies calmly not moving at all, just standing there watching her.
Kenzey frowns slightly, shifting her grip on the bow slightly. "No, you didn't..." she says, lowering the bow slightly. "But why come after a girl that's done nothing but mind her own business?"
Hale sighs, "Unfortunatly I have to do what I'm told. They pick the target, I wrap em' up nice and pretty and have it delievered to them..."
Kenzey wrinkles her nose in disgust. "Why am I not surprised?" she mutters, shaking her head. "I swear the entire world is against me." She places the arrow back in her quiver, hanging the bow on a tree branch. "Pointless fighting it, huh?"
Hale gives her a quizzical look, never having a demon give up without a fight. "Interesting..." He starts pacing back and forth. I've never not had a demon fight me before. It's their natural instinct, what's wrong with her? Maybe she's just smart and doesn't want the struggle. Or maybe she's not a full demon...
"Well? Get it over with," Kenzey challenges, leaning against a tree and watching him. "Before I change my mind."
He stops pacing and looks at Kenzey. "Why're you so calm about it? No struggle, No fight, No yelling?" Hale couldn't move towards her, something was weird about this situation and even though Kenzey had admited to being a demon, he wondered if the Archangels could have somehow gotten it wrong...
"I already gave you my reason. I'll end up dying eventually. Why try to prevent what's only going to happen later?" Kenzey replies, raising an eyebrow.
Hale shakes his head and turns to go back the way he came. This situation was weird and he needed to think things through before he proceeded with this case.
"Something wrong?" Kenzey asks, walking closer. She still left the bow where it was and had set down her quiver, and her hunting knife was at her makeshift camp still.
"Just..." He stops and looks back at her for a second. "Just get out of here as fast as you can." He starts towards the edge of the forest, his destination being his hotel room.
"I don't have anywhere to go, Hale. I'm not leaving this area just so you can have a chase," Kenzey says, crossing her arms and walking a few feet behind him.
He rolls his eyes. "I'm not going to chase you, Kenzey. I'm trying to save your a.s.s. " he continues walking hoping she'll take his advice and leave.
"Why are you trying to save me?" Kenzey asks, shaking her head. She couldn't make sense of this at all and it bothered her. "I'm nothing to you."
"Because for once I don't understand them. For the first time they've sent me on a case that's full of questions that I don't know the answers to and the fact that your completely innocent and havent tried to fight me yet is confusing the he.ll out of me." he rakes his hand through his hair roughly.
Kenzey tentatively lays a hand on his arm. "Look, do what you have to, but... I'm not leaving. I can't," she says quietly, biting her lip. "I can't relax away from here... I have to stay."
Hale groans, "Now you have to be difficult?"
"Difficult?! I - What?!" Kenzey groans, shaking her head. "How am I being difficult by saying I can't leave?!"
