'Ay, now, Ang. Don't do that," He lightly punched her arm, carefully not to do it so hard she fell off. "Your makeup will smudge or something,"
She forces a slight smile and brushes her knuckles against his jaw as a fake punch before slipping off the rock.
Noah hopped down and walked slowly, not sure where to go. Being here was nice, and it had helped distract him. But not everything can last, and the time away from his problems certainly didn't.
"We should go back... I'm probably late for work." she scuffs her boot into the dirt, not really wanting to go anywhere yet but knowing they'll have to go back soon.
"Oh," His voice was monotone, and he was incredibly grateful for that. He started walking back to the car, but stopped when he got close to her. "Don't worry about me, ok? At least not there." He got into the car, this time buckling himself in.
She watched the ground as she made her way over to the car, getting in she puts on her seatbelt and starts the engine. Sucking in a deep breath before spinning the car around and pulling back onto the road.
"How is work?" Noah's voice was strained, but he would do anything to keep away the silence.
"It's work, Noah. You know, going from table to table with a cheery 'what can I get for you today' and having to suffer through Katie Brill and her cliques snooty comments when they decide they want to annoy me..."
"Noah flinch before he could stop himself. Sorry. Just trying to make some conversation".
(Lots of typos there.)
"No, I'm sorry. I'm just a little on edge right now, I didn't mean to snap.". She sighs.
"It's alright. I guess we're both a little moody right now," He said, staring out the window.
Angie nods as they get closer to town. "Where do you want me to drop you off?"
"The park, please," Noah doesn't feel like going home, not now. He can't face his parents like this.
"You sure? You can come hang out at the cafe if you want. We can hangout some more when I'm done my shift?" She offers, knowing he doesn't want to go home but also knowing it's probably not a good thing for him to be on his own right now. "I could call in sick?"
"I guess I could come in for awhile, but only if I get one of those little muffins." Noah says. He always loved those little things, especially with butter.
"Sure thing." She smiles a bit as she pulls into the parking lot. She gets out and goes to her trunk grabbing her work uniform before heading for the building.
Noah followed in, taking slow, small steps. "Who's working today?"
"Just me and Nicole. Grab a table near the counter, alright?" She asks before walking through the door. She goes to the back and changes into her work uniform, which consists of a black shortsleeve dress and an apron, before punching in and going to help Nicole with the customers.
Nicole walks past with an order, "Your late." She sings as she passes by.
"I know." Angie smirks and grabs one of the little muffins and butter for Noah before she starts taking someone elses order.
