The Bloodied Dagger (1x1)

Aquilo sat in his room, at his table going through the list of names of people he hurt. He remembered all their names and so far he's helped or apologized to at least a quarter of them. That girl, he never got her name and yet he feels the need to help her. The Roman Government attacked her family and killed her brother. She's not alone there, his friend was killed the same way and many others too. He wants to stop them but he knows, the Roman don't take kindly to threats within or outside their empire. The offer to train the soldiers to more brutal, he has to think about. He notices the sunlight breaking through but decides to stay in and catch up on some needed sleep.

Cecelia's maid got her dressed, and then she walked to her father's study to have a word with him. She knocked on the door and waited patiently until it opened. "Come in," a voice called. When her father saw it was her, his face lit up. "What can I do for you, my dear?" he asked. Cecelia paused and went to sit on the couch next to him. "I-I was wondering if you knew that soldier from the banquet last night, Aquilo," she murmured. Her father thought for a moment. "Yes, he was interesting. Perhaps I should invite him to dine with us tonight."

Aquilo work up a few hours later. He wasn't planning on going anyway so he didn't bother getting himself presentable. He sits up and rubs his knee. The arrow did a lot of damage to his knee, that's why he's not General right now. If his knee didn't get shot, he would be leading the military to victory each fight. He makes his way to his living room that's covered by files and settled by the window. As a child he always liked watching people .

Cecelia managed to pursuade her father to let her go with the servant who was delivering the invitation to Aquilo. As she travelled to get to his house she looked excitedly at the people on the streets around her. She wasn't allowed out often and she found Rome so fascinating. Soon they arrived at the place where Aquilo lived and the servant knocked on the door, Cecelia standing patiently behind.

Aquilo heard a knock at his door and got up to answer it. He was surprised to see it was the girl from the dinner. "Hello, how may I help you?" He questioned.

Cecelia shuffled forward, her servant standing silently by her side. "My father wishes to invite you to dine with us this evening," she told him. "I also realised I didn't tell you my name last night, which was rather rude of me."

Aquilo blinked at the two people in front of him. He stepped back, opening the door wider to welcome the two in. "I apologize for any messes, I'm currently working on some things before I leave in a week. So this dinner, I would except." He stood and watched the two, waiting for some response.

Cecelia stepped inside, a small frown creasing her forehead. He was going away? For some reason she didn't like the idea of that. "I'm Cecelia," she told him, pushing the thought from her mind. Why should she care?

Aquilo closed the door behind them and led the way to his living room. "Nice to meet you Cecilia, " he says as he clears a couple seats off. "Please, take a seat. Dinner, huh?"

Cecelia sat, smoothing down her clothes as she did so. "Dinner, yes," she said. "My father finds you to be a very interesting man. He's has an interest for politics as you could probably tell, particularly the military aspect of it. My brother was in the army before... you know..." A troubled look crossed her face.

He picked up some files that were on a chair and sat down. He flipped through the file. "Yes, I remember. What tike is this dinner and how shall I dress?" He underlined a few things in the file before he looked up at them.

This time the servant supplied the information. "The dinner begins at 7 o'clock and the dress code is formal, sir," he said.

"But wear whatever you feel comfortable in, Pater won't mind," Cecelia said quickly. She looked curiously at the papers in Aquilo's hand. "What are those?"

"Information on people. I have a lot of amends to make up before I leave." He closes the folder and sets it down on his lap. "Pater?" he questioned and cocked his head slightly.

((It's like Latin for 'daddy'.))

Cecelia blushed. "I know I'm too old to be calling him that," she admitted. She was still very childlike because she had been sheltered for so long. "You could be a spy with all that information!" she grinned, teasing him. She thought it was admirable that he wanted to help the people he had hurt.

The corner of his mouth quirked in what was a failed attempt at humor. "I could, but it'd be a waste of my time and Roman aren't much for spying now a days. Maybe a couple years back or a couple years in the future, but not now." He leaned forward and picked up another file. "My disrespect, would you like something to drink?" He stood up.

Cecelia sighed. "I think I have to go home now. Pater worries if I'm out for too long and he might cancel the dinner tonight if he gets too stressed. But I'll see you tonight," she said shyly, beaming at him. She was looking forward to it.

He nodded his head and walked toward the door. "Very well then. See you tonight." He smiled at her and nodded to the servent as well. Interesting. He thought to himself as he stares at Cecelia. She's not half bad, not like the other sheltered women he'd come in contact with.

That night, Cecelia was dressed and ready for Aquilo to arrive. She had taken particular attention to her appearance, although she wasn't sure why. She told herself it was because she didn't often get the chance to dress nicely as she didn't go to many dinners.

Aquillo was dressed in a suit or what looked like a suit but was more like expensive wear. He knocked on the door and waited for someone to open the door. He couldn't help but rub his leg, cold air always made his leg hurt.
