Risk looked up at Darkyn, then his eyes dirfted to his own sowrd which had been knocked out of his hand. Suddenly he brough his leg up and kicked Darkyn's sword hand, knocking the sword away from his chin. He then jumped to his feet and kicked aDarkyn between the legs, picking up his own sword and pointing it at Darkyn. Risk had learned one thing by listening to the soldier it was to rise through the ranks you had play dirty.
Try strained her ears to hear what the peole were saying, she couldn't though. Slipping over to her bed she pulled a daggarf rom under her pillow and gripped itin her right hand. Now she could defend herself incase anyone decided to use her aloft as a hiding place or as cover.
Kyvan searched the insides of the trucks. Most of it was vegtables. His group began to load up the goods on their own vehicles. They were working quickly and they'd soon be able to leave and dump the trucks off before any Creatures reached them.
Wyvern rested on Kyvan's shoulder as he climbed back out of the truck. Suddenly she puffed up and made a hissing noise as she looked up toward the buildings.
Kyvan looked in the direction she was staring. He saw movement in one of the lofts. His gut clenched. Someone was up there, watching them.
"I'll be right back," he told Yang, "Don't wait for me."
Kyvan walked casually toward the building- but making sure that he looked like he was only going to sort through the trash below. He didn't wan the spy fleeing before he could catch him.
Darkyn hunched forward. He glared at Risk as his anger erupted inside. He took his back hand and slapped Risk so hard that it echoed off of the room, so hard it would knock an adult back.
He took deep hard breaths as his anger rose and begged him to keep going. To show Risk who was really the boss and that he could never be bested.
Risk stumbled backwards fell onto his back, surprised. Didn't Darkyn want him to learn to fight, now he'd gotten Darkyn angry. He satred up at his mentor, his eye now wide, he hand't wante dto get Darkyn mad, he'd only wanted to show Darkyn that he could fight. He stayed on teh ground, not wanting to get Darkyn even more angry. 'You have to learn when to fight and when to stay down'. Darkyn had told him that once.
Try heard someone enter the loft building, he'd entered the lobby of sorts below her. She crouche din teh corner of her loft, her knife clutched tightly in her hand, her eyes staring at the door. She felt her muscles tighten as she prepared to lunge at anyone who entered the room.
Wyvren fluttered off of his shoulder. Kyvan held his knife ready and he looked around- listening hard. His head snapped up as some dust fell on him, falling off of the old floor boards above. He spotted the stairs easily enough and he began to creep up them- only managing to make two creak. He reached the second floor and paused again. Wyvern hissed softly as she tasted the air with her tounge. She queitly pointed at a nearby door with her beak.
Kyvan crept forward, knife ready to strike, and shoved the door open.
Darkyn saw Risk's frightened face and realized he was going to far. No need to make the boy hate him, he just needed him to be loyal. He forced a smile and said, "Better. But always be prepared for a counter attack even when you think you've bested your attacker."
He stood up and eyed the boy. He had never let him close to his heart, he hadn't let anyone close. His father had told him love was a weakness. And he had been right. Before he had loved his father, even when he had been hurt by him. And in the end all his father had done for him was abandoned him. Love was just a lie. A lie to oneself and to the other person.
Darkyn actually only found Risk as a useful pawn for the future. Just like he his father had veiwed him- just like he should veiw him.
Try jumped forward quickly, pushing up into the air as well as towards the door. She brought her knife above her head, bringing it down towards the person who'd just burst through her door. She saw the person as she jumped towards him, a boy, bigge rthan she was, the on with the Creature.
Risk just nodded, he stood up quietly. Nervous now, he wondered if Darkyn was still mad. Picking up hsi shirt and Gatorade Risk quietly went to go clean up for his dinner. He darted to his small yet comfortable room off of teh baracks, grabbed some clean clothes and headed for the shower.
Kyvan brought his knife up high enough to block the attacker just in time. It was a girl, but she had surprising strenght for somone her size. But not more than him.
He grabbed her wrists with his other hand and twisted her into him. He wrapped his large arms around her and kept her knife in a harmless position in her grip while his rested under her chin.
"Who are you? Army or Rebel?" He pressed the knife hard onto her and then clucked at Wyvern.
Wyvern flew onto an old pile of junk and eyed the girl- ready to go for the eyes if she desided to fight him.
Darkyn watched as Risk left. He then sighed and placed the sword back. He cursed himself. He was letting his emotions control him again. He had to keep his cool. If he lost it in public they people might question him.
A soldier ran in, and bowed.
"Yes, yes. What is it?" Darkyn had regained most of his composer now.
"Another attack, sir." The soldier replied.
Darkyn nodded. "Send the Dracons."
The soldier nodded. "Yes, sir!"
Darkyn smiled as the soldier ran to do his duty. The Dracon's would surely get some of those pesky Rebels, or Strays as the one group who kept attacking their trucks were called. He had bred the Dracons specifically to hunt Rebels.
Dracons were a mix of komodo dragon and tiger. They created a vicious poisoness beast that had the tiger's stealth, teeth, claws, and hunting capablities and the komodo dragon's thick scales and poison.
Darkyn smiled. They would tear those Rebels limb from limb.
Try struggled to break his grip, though she knew it was impossible, her father had done this type of grip on her a few times, though he'd been stronger and bigger so it'd hurt much more. "Let me go." she said throughgritted teeth, her couldn't get her knife hand even loose from his grip. She felt the cold blade of his knife resting under her chin, and stared at teh Creature who was sitting on top of her stuff. It may look like junk, but she'd hidden something in the junk that she didn't want taken away form her.
Risk finished washing adn headed to dinner, he ate with teh common soldiers even though he was too young. Sitting down in between two burly guys that some waht resembled gorrilas he satrted eating his potatoes, deep friend chick, and green beans.
"Then answer the question," Kyvan snarled. "Are you soldier or a rebel?"
Wyvern suddenly stopped and flapped her wings urgently and gave a loud squawk.
Kyvan fell silent and listened hard. As Wyvern continued to cluck nervously. That's when he heared it. The distant roar. The Creatures were coming, and not just any normal Creatures. They were Dracons.
Kyvan swore and drug the girl over to the window. He peered out. The others had already left. HE couldn't ride with them anymore. He had to get out of ther pronto before they found him. They had darn good hunting skills.
He looked at the girl, wondering if he should just ditch her, but he desided against it. If she was a rebel he needed to help her and it she was a soldier he needed to make sure she didn't talk about anythign she saw. Plus they might need a hostage.
"Come on," Kyvan ordered as he started to drag her along. "We are leaving."
Darkyn smiled as he stood in his room as the soldier returned with word that the Dracons had been released. He knew it was only a matter of time now.
Try struggled against him, she hated being dragged. This man was just like her father! Except she loved her father, and her father loved her, her father was only trying to help be a better person when he hurt her. This man was just being mean. "Let me go!" she growled trying desprately to get free, she wante dto go back, he rloft was nice it'd taken her a long tim eto think of it and make it home and now this stupid stupid man was dragging her away form it. Him and his Creature.
((Okay, nice way to follow through with your character ^_^))
Kyvan dragged her down the hall, already the Dracons screams were getting closer. He knew he'd get no where fighting her so he hefted the girl over his shoulder and began to run. HE ran back down the stairs and out into the street again.
HE paused and listened again. The howls were coming from this side of the cavern. And the bridge was down. He couldn't cross this way. He had to find another way to cross.
He swore and began to run toward the river. He knew he could at least swim across and make the Creatures lose their scents.
Darkyn stared at folder with photos of different people in them. And at one boy in particular. He then looked down at the photograph of an old library that was still running by an old Chinese man and his grandson. He smiled.
He finally had found Risk's purpose.
He called to a guard, "Bring Risk to me."
Try struggled more when she was picked up. She didn't want to leave, her diary was back there, her picture of her parents, and her pencil. Those were her most precious items. The pencil she'd stolen was useful, her diary was where she wrote down her thoughts and events that happened in her life, and her pciture gave her the hope her parents would come home.
Risk was taken up to Darkyn's office, "Sir!" he siad when he was brought in, he snapped to attention and saluted like any good soldier would. He wondered why he'd been called up, maybe Darkyn was going to make him into a solder!
Kyvan was running forward when, suddenly out of the shadows, a Creature leapt at him. Kyvan skidded to a hault and twisted out of the way. A Dracon landed and turned and snarled at him, showing off his fangs.
Kyvan swore. It had cut him off. He threw a small firecracker at the beast and took off running. The Dracon was right on his tail.
Darkyn smiled at Risk and motioned for him to sit. "I understand that you want to be a soldier like me one day?"
Darkyn studied the boy. He wasn't very large for his size and luckily he wasn't plump. That would've posed a problem.
Try didn't like to be carried, she struggled even on top of this man's shoulders. "Let me go!" she yelled, "I didn't do anything!" she said, trying to get away, they were heded for the river. Try could swim, but she didn't want to, why was this man taking her away from her home? She'd just been protecting herself!
Risk nodded eagerly, "Yes sir, I want to be a soldier, sir!" he exclaimed, bringing his slaute down and standing at attention, trying to make himself look taller than he actually was.
Another Dracon jumped in front of him. Now they had him on either side. The girl kicked him hard in the gut so he let her fall to the ground. "If you want to get out alive you're going to have to help me fight."
Darkyn smiled and gestured for Risk to join him at the window. "Do you see all this?"
He gestured to the view of the Capitol, now gleaming with industrial works and gardens alike. It was very beautiful and he had most of it built in the two years as leader. "I need someone strong and on my side to be my general and help me rule this. But I need someon I know I can trust and depend on. Someone who is strong and tough."
Darkyn shot Risk a glance. "I plan to make you that leader, Risk. But first you must prove to me you are up to it. Do you think you are ready for such a test?"
Try hit the ground hard and stared at the Creatures around them. She could go home after she got out of this mess that this man put her in. She rubbed her wrists to get circulation back in them from the man's grip and then readied her knife to fight. SHe'd never fought one of these Creatures before. She normally was smart enough to stay away form Creaures.
Risk nodded eagerly, "I will take teh test adn I will pass the test." he said firmly. "What is teh test, sir?" he asked looking up at Darkyn his eyes glintng with excitemnt.
Kyvan held his knife high. "They have a weak spot under the chin and on their gut. Don't worry about the rest of the m because their scales are too tough for a knife to pass through. Stay clear of the mouth- their's deadly poison in there- and the claws are nasty too."
One Dracon lept at the girl. Kyvan shoved her aside and jumped in front of her. He blocked the Creature's mouth with his knife and his paws with his other arm.
"Get the other one!" Kyvan grunted at her.
Darkyn smiled and placed a hand on Risk's shoulder. "There is a group of people trying to kill this city, Risk. They are stealing our food and materials and making people go hungry. They even go as far as kill soldiers. I think I found one of their leaders but I am not sure. This is where I need you."
Try nearly fell when she was shoved aside, I don't need protecting, idiot, no need to shove be aside. she thought angrily, spinninga round she swung her knife around at te Creatures chin, aiming for the underside of the chin. At the same time her knife stabbed into the Creatures she felt it's claws rake her leg, the Creature collapsed to the ground and Try jumped back. She looked down at her leg, the skin wass hredded and it was bleeding a nasty bunch, but no muscles or bones had been hurt it seemed.
Risk kept his eyes on Darkyn, "What do you need me to do, sir?" he asked. He;d heard of the rebels form the other soldiers and was angry at them. How dare they attack soldiers and try to ruin the city!! The city was beautiful!! He wanted them all to be detroyed, this was Darkyn's city, no one should be allowed to mess with it.
Kyvan allowed the Creature to fall and turned on the other one. But he was too slow. It's claws clamped around his left arm and dug into his skin. He screamed in pain but managed to bring his own knife up and stab it- all the way into it's brain.
Kyvan yanked he arm back and looked it over. The bite was shallow but he could feel the poision. He looked at the girl. She was hurt too and it was her leg.
He ripped his shirt and tied it around her wound to try and keep infection out. "Can you walk?"
Darkyn smiled at Risk. "I need you to be a spy for me, Risk."
"Yeah." was all Tristian said. She looked at his arm and then back the way they'd come. She should go back now, get her things and run away form the loft. She was still angry at this man for dragging her away, she wouldn't have been injured if he hadn't taken her away. Turning around she started too run/limp back to the loft, she wanted her things, tehn she could disappear and no one would be bale to find. Except her mom adn dad of course, they were always able to find her.
Risk nodded, "I'll spy for you, just tell me what to do." he said, "Where do I have to go, what do you want me to find out?" he asked nerously.
