Sam reached into his pocket and shoved his favorite basball cap to Juste. If he had to barf let it be in his hat. He could always wash it and he also didn't think Santa would appereciate a vomit odor in his ride.
The sleigh dropped and they and the reigndeer all plummeted to the hard ice below. Sam resisted the urge to close his eyes. If he was going to die he wanted to see the end coming.
Just as he thought they were about to splatter on the ice below the reigndeer pulled up. The sleigh skidded across the ice a few yards before rising up too. And they were in the air.
Sam fell back in his seat. "Thank heaven."
Juste took the hat and gripped it tightly with his free hand. He stared at the ground as ithey plummeted towards it. "Dieu nous sauve!" he yelled, they sleigh suddenly jerked up and leveled. Juste relaxed a bit and bending over dry heaved, hsi stomach was empty, nothing came up, but he felt dizzy and nauseous still.
((TRANSLATION: "God save us!"))
Sharina covers her mouth to stifle a scream, fisting one hand in Pantasma's fur. She looked shaken and slightly more pale than usual, but otherwise fine. "I guess this is where we're on our own..."
Feeling her distress, Achi places his paw on her foot and images began flickering through her mind, but it was the one memeory that set her at ease.
"Rai, I'm scared," Iysh says as he holds on to his sister.
"It's okay, we don't have to go if you don't want to," she says as she pulls him into a hug.
"Promise you'll get over your fear of heights." He looks up at her with puppy dog eyes.
"I'll try." She looks down at im, a weak smile on her face.
"There'll be a day when you're going to have to fight." She looks at him confused.
"What are you talking about?" He smiles sheepishly.
"You're going to have to fight, later on in life, but soon enough." Her brow furrows even more.
That's when the memory ended. "He was right." Achi says as she looks down at him. "I guess so." She swallows the need to vomit and looks over at Sharina. She swore she heard her say something.
Juste got up and got out of teh sleigh. He had to jump down and landed on his hands on knees, scraping his knees against the cold ice. He stood up and looked around, it was cold out here! He was just in a polo and shorts. He looked around, he didn't see any place they could go into. He reched in to the sleigh and picked up his action figure, clutching it he wrapped his arms around his chest to get warmer.
Sam's legs were so wobbily that they gave out and he face planted in the snow. He sat up and held up a handful and smiled. "Where I live it's more common to be wearing shorts at Christmas than to have a snow. I've never had a white Christmas before."
Blizzard untangled herself from his hair. "WHat else is there than snow?"
"Well," Sam answered standing, "Grass, dirt, trees. Ya know? Plants."
He looked around at the unfriendly ice wasteland. And shivered. He wished he was still laying up on his roof warm in the Texas' heat.
"Use those gloves you got," the elf instructed as he nudged the reigndeer to take off, "It will lead you to the others."
Sam watched as they flew away and then at his gloves. They were glowing dully. He held them up and they glowed brighter. ANd as he turned they grew duller.
"They glow brighter if we are going the right way," Blizzard said.
Sam gulped. They wanted them to head in the direction that had what looked like icecicle mountains ahead, ones so sharp they could spear you.
"Right," he said walking forward, "This way."
Sharina frowns, pulling her leather jacket tighter around her body, shivering. She was used to the cold of London in the winter, but this was different. Somehow colder than what she was used to.
Suddenly wishing she had brought a jacket or something, Rai hugs herself as Achi flanks her. Just the feel of his fur made her feel warm. "Thanks," she mumbles under her breath to him. He gives her a low growl of appreciation. Her attention is grabbed by Sam saying something.
Looking around Juste sees the only who'd actually brought a coat was Sharina. Juste hadn't even been given winter clothes yet at the orphanage, the orphanage's funds were running low, so Juste guesed they wouldn't get winter clothes this year. He kept his arms wrapped tightly around his chest and followed Sam closely, eyeing the mountains they were headed towards nervously. The mountains didn't look to friendly, they looked like people could easily get lost in them, he was worried he'd lose hsi friends in them.
"I really don't like this," Sharina mutters, her breath visible in the freezing air. She knew that with the cold, even she could die from hypothermia. "No, I don't like this at all," she murmurs, shaking her head.
Sam's thin jacket wasn't much but he handed it to Juste. For some reason the cold didn't bother him too much, in fact, he liked it a lot. Maybe it had something to do with having an ice fairy as his companion?
Blizzard flew by Sam. "I feel like we have been friends for a while, Sam."
"Really?" he asked, "That's funny. I do too."
She smiled and sat down on his shoulder. "I like you."
Sam chuckled, "Well, you are the first girl to ever say that to me."
Blizzard smiled even bigger, but then her smile faded. "I feel sorry for all of those children that Ijiraq has gotten. I hope they are okay especially if they are as nice as you and your friends."
Sam sighed. "Me too."
He thought about the cold claws that had ripped him away from his home and shivered. He wa glad he had been saved.
Sam turned to the others. "So...we really haven't gotten a chance to talk a lot yet. I'm Sam Goodfellow in case you guys don't know."
"Rai Jordan." Rai shivers. Achi moves closer to her and automatically, her mind is flooded with a memory of a warm fire. She smiles down at him and pats his head.
Juste took the coat and smiled at Sam, "Merci, Sam." he said thankfully. He put the doll in his pocket on the coat, "How far?" he asked, hoping someone would know. Though he didn't think anybody ese had been here before. He wrapped his arms around his chest sill, the coat wasn't that warm, but it did help.
"Sharina Bask," Sharina replies, absently stroking Pantasma's head, giving up on trying to hold the jacket tighter around her.
"Nice to meet y'all," Sam nodded and then laughed, "Though I have to say I wish it was under different settings."
"Sam!" Blizzard shouted. "There's something ahead!"
Sam squinted and gasped. A little girl with curly hair was standing by one of the ice spikes. She watched them with wide fearful eyes.
"Hey!" Sam called and waved.
She turned and ran back into the ice spikes.
"HEy! Wait!" Sam called and ran after her. "We are here to help you! Come back!"
He reached the edge of the ice spikes quickly and vanished inside, following the girl's footprints. He kept running forward and it wasn't until a few more minutes before he realized the others weren't behind him. He stopped runnign and looked around.
"There she is, Sam!" Blizzard shouted.
Sam turned and saw her standing a few feet away from him. He smiled and walked to her and held a hand out, "Hey, it's okay. You're gonna be fine."
The girl's head snapped up and Sam bit back a scream. Her eyes- that were blue- were turning blood red and her teeth were now fangs.
"IT's Ijiraq! Blizzard screamed.
((What's Ijiraq? Is that the Creature that's been kidnapping the chidlren and Santa or is it something else?))
Juste screamed in terror when he saw the little girl's face, he stumbled backwards, bumping into Rai, but not noticing. He stared at his doll in his pocket, trying to concentrate on it and not teh girl, the doll wasn't really a combat toy, it was more of for survailence adn spying he guessed. So he kept it in his pocket and kept his eyes down.
((Yeah. Ijiaq is the shape-shifting monster kidnapping everyone. ))

Growling low as Juste bumped inyo her, she immediately reached for her handgun. "Sniper." She thought as just as she was about to fire a couple of shots into the beast, Achi steps into her line of view. His tail lightly brushed her leg. "It'll be useless and the bullets will bounce off of the beast." He says to her. Sighing she rehostlers her gun but immediately rushes to Sam's side. If she has to do hand on hand combat, then so be it.
Sam rolled to the side as the girl lept at him. Bilzzard flew above Ijiraq and blew. Ice began to cover the girl's arms and face. She snarled in humanly and lunged again at Sam.
Sam brought his hands up in time to catch her. But she knocked him off balance. He crashed back into an ice spike and with a thunderous crack it broke and he fell through and down a vast hole. He managed to grab onto a ledge before he fell all the way, but Ijiraq had latched onto his leg.
"Help!" Sam shouted as he struggled to kick Ijiraq off.
