Rai waits a few moments to let what Mrs. Clause said set it. It's been a long time since she's believed in Santa, and it started a short while after her brother was taken by child services, that was 4 years ago.
Taking deep breath, she remembers the last thing she told her brother before they took him: Never stop believing, never. That was a long time ago, but it still seems fresh in her mind.
"So, I'm just going to be blunt. What do you need us to do?" Rai swallows hard and struggles slightly to keep eye contact with Mrs. Clause.
"Ah, Raien Jordon, you had a tough chilhood. You're baby brother Iysh, who was not much older than Juste was taken away from you. You stopped believing, yet you still hold on for him," Mrs. Clause says. Rai just nods and adverts her eyes.
"It's been a while, yes," she pauses and looks back at Mrs. Clause. "You still didn't answer the question. What do you need us to do?" Rai gestures us by rotating her hand in a circle, passing everyone of the kids in the room.
"So I assume you need us to stop this creature somehow?" Sharina guesses, pushing her hair back from her face. To be honest, she wasn't really a fighter, and this all seemed a bit too suspicious for her liking, but she'd give it a chance.
You don't really have a choice, she pointed out to herself, a slight frown tugging at her lips.
"And you only rescued us? I mean no disrespect, but how do we know - honestly - that you're not in league with whatever kidnapped us?"
"None taken, Sharina," Mrs. Clause nodded at her but her eyes darkened. "We are doing all we can and we actually are in over our heads, but that doesn't mean we can sit back and let innocent children be hurt. And we knew we could only saved a select few. That is why we saved you." She stood and began to pace. "You children are special. You each have talents that will be needed to defeat the monster. Santa himself could not defeat the monster. He was captured." He voice broke but she pushed on, "I would go myself but me and the elves must protect as many as we can."
Sam looked at her. He had a special talent? How in the world could throwing a baseball save all the kids in the world? "What exactly do you want us to do?"
She looked them all over. "I have special weapons crafted for you. Only you can work them. I will arm you with these and specail companions to aid you. Then you must find Santa and the children and free them."
Mrs. Claus said, "I am not going to send you in there helpless, mind you. We have created specail weapons and assigned helpers to you." She pointed to a large cedar chest by the door. "Go and look inside."
Sam walked over to it and opened the lid and peered inside. There were presents wrapped up neatly and stacked in there. Sam smile as he picked one up. "Hey! This has my name on it!" he looked back in, "There's one with for all of us in here!"
Juste frowned at his shoe laces, the bow was loose and would undo in 5 minutes probably, but he just wanted to see his present. He got up and hurried over to the chest, he pulled out a medium sized box wrapped in paper with snowmen and reindeer dancing on it. He also grabbed Rai's goft and walked back to the couch. He placed her gift in her lap and then sat down next to her again. He put his present on his lap and looked up at the other, deciding to wait until everybody got their present to open his.
Sharina raises an eyebrow, walking over to the chest and gingerly picking up the gift with her name on it, the slightest smile tugging at her lips. She toys with the wrapping paper, pausing and looking at Mrs. Claus.
"I... We can open them now, right?" she asks. She was curious as to what she had been given, but she wouldn't abandon having manners just because of that.
Mrs. Clause nodded. "Yes, go ahead."
Sam rips open his present and finds a pair of gloves. They are red and white and missing fingers. As he slides them on they seam to melt onto his skin, he can barely even notices that they are there.
"Thank you." He says as he turns them over. "But...I thought you were going to give us weapons."
Mrs. Clause chuckles. "They are your weapons. Test them out."
Sam furrows his brow as he turns his hands over and holds them out. Suddenly a bolt of light shoots out and hits a far wall. It leaves a sizzling burn mark on the wood.
Sam's mouth falls open. "I am so sorry! I didn't mean to."
Mrs. Clause waves him off. "You'll get used to them. You control them with your thoughts just like you do with your hands."
She turned to the others. "Do you like yours children?"
Juste ripped his package open and pulled out a doll. Or an action figure really, it was of a French Commando. "Thanks." he siad studying the action figure carefully, trying to figure out what was specail about it. Sudden;y it snapped to life and Jsute dropped it quickly, he thought and it stood at attention and saluted. "Cool." Juste murmured. He thought about walking around the corner, the action figure walked around teh corner. Juste's eyes widened as two images suddenly pushed into his mind, one from what the doll was seeing the other from what he was seeing. Juste's head started to spin he told tehd oll to stop, they heard a clatter as the doll fell to the ground form where it was out of sight.
Sharina gingerly runs her fingers over the blades of the daggers, grinning at the sound of electricity crackling around them. "They're... I can't even find the right word. Amazing woud be an understatement. And the grip on these daggers... It's like an extension of my arm in a way."
She pauses, shaking her head. "Sorry. I sort of got a bit too excited. Thank you, Mrs. Claus."
( (Bump) )
Opening her present warily, Rai lifts the .38 revolver. She glnces up at Mrs. Clause, confusion written on her face.
"A .38? I'm confused by it's meaning. I have a .22 revolver, what can I do with a .38?" She questions.
"Darling, what would you have liked?" Mrs. Clause responds.
"A sniper." Just like that, the .38 transformed into a sniper, a Kate to be exact.
"You see, with that, any gun you think of, it will appear. Your thoughts control your weapons and being the quick witted fighter you are, it will sure come in handy." Mrs. Clause smiles.
"That it will," after a pause she continues."Thank you."
[What's with the "((bump))? I've been seeing them a lot and I'm highly confused as to their meanings ... thank you.]
((Ttracey09, when some one says "bumb" they are bumping the thread. The threads with the most reasent posts are at the top of the page of forms threads. Sam flexed his hands and grinned. He had to admit this was pretty cool. "Thank you, Mrs. Clause."
Mrs. Clause smiled. "I have one more gift you you." She placed two fingers in her mouth and blew. The doors behind them swung open and some animals walked in.
One bright light of blue and white zipped to Sam. He took a stumbling step back as a small fairy flew in front of him. "Hello! I'm Blizzard!"
"Uh," Sam stuttered. "I'm Sam."
Mrs. Clause laughed. "These are your compainions. They are assigned to keep you safe and to work with you."
Sharina's eyes widen at the mist wolf approaching her. "I... He's magnificent," she says, shaking her head in wonder.
An understatement, girl. I am Pantasma.
"Whoa... He can... talk? Through telepathy?"
Juste face fel when no animal came over to him. HE loved animals! Though he guessed it wasn't a good idea to give him one, he'd just be devastated when it had to leave, if it got lost, or if it died. He got up and shuffled around tehc orne rto pick up his toy. He came back and sat down again, setting the toy beside him. he looked at teh animals, hoping that maybe there was a mistake, maybe anotehr animal was coming. But no, no animal came to him, Juste hung his head, and rubbed his temple, his head hurt a bit from using the doll. He wished he had his fife with him, but it'd been broken at the orphanage by soem of teh older boys a couple days ago.
Sharina looks of at Juste, her features softening slightly. "You can come join Pantasma and me," she offers gently. She vaguely remembered a boy she had known a long time ago that Juste reminded her strongly of, and she still held a soft spot for Coby. He'd be a year older than her if the cancer hadn't killed him...
Rai puts her .38 away and when she looks up, there's a black panther sitting in front of her. Reaching out with a paw, he touched her knee. Multiple images flickered through her head. There was one of her and her brother then there was one of her and the panther walking together.
"No name, huh?" The panther just nods as she places her hand on his head. She sent one thought, Achi - partner. He growls an almost inaudible growl of approval, but still audible only to Rai's ears.
"So, Tactile thought projection is your powers. The ability to share thoughts." Again he growls lowly.
Juste looked up at Sharina and then at the wolf. He smiled slightly and reached his hand out hsakily for the wolf, but he jerked it back before he touched the wolf. He didn't want to be bit or to get the wolf angry, he put his hands in hsi pockets adn looked at thew olf again and then back at Sharina, "Really? Promise?" he asked. He didn't want her to suddenly decide she didn't want to share anymore and wanetd tehw olf all to herself.
"I promise," Sharina says kindly, glancing at Pantasma. Behave yourself. We don't need to frighten the poor child.
If you insist, girl, the wolf grumbles in reply.
Juste smiled happily and petted the wolf on the head, he scratched under it's chin. "It name Pantasma?" he asked Sharina, looking at her with his big eyes. He'd pushed his cap back so it wwas at a jaunty angle, at the back of his head. He liked Pantasma, he was a ncie wolf.
Sharina smiles, stroking the wolf's misty fur. "That is what he told me. It means 'ghost'. I don't remember what language, though," she says, letting out a quiet, bell-like laugh at the wolf's expression. He seemed irritated, yet begrudgingly allowed the two to pet him.
