She stiffened. "Clay!" she cried. He opened his mouth. One of his teeth was glowing blue. "Orcs!" Dia hissed.
((You're back! ^_^)))
Leif pulled out his bow and looked around. "Where?"
He didn't have to wait long to find them. There was a large crashing noise from above. Leif looked up and spotted the orc leaping at them. He fired his bow and killed it instantly, but it still hit him full in the chest and knocked him off of Krest.
Leif landed on the ground and shoved the dead orc off. He jumped to his feet. They were surrounded.
Dia glared at the orcs, Her axe was at ready. "What do you want? We are peaceful travellers, nothing more."
Leif had to role his eyes. Trust a dwarf to try and reason with orcs. "What about this picture of a orc leaping at us and trying to kills us isn't clear to you?"
"Orcs were elves once, you know that?" she shot back. "By Thorin, I can see the family resemblance!"
Leif glared at Dia. That was a sore subject with the elven people. He couldn't come up with a good comeback so he just pointed his arrow at the nearest orc. "Then you try to reason with them."
"I was doing just that before you rudely interuppted me," Dia reminded him, the bantering giving her a steady relief from the the Orcs surrounding them,
Leif didn't lower his bow, but he didn't fire either.
"Dwarves." he muttered in disgust.
Suddenly Dia turned to an Orc and began to speak in Orc-ish (forgive the wrong terminology). Roughly translated, she said, "We are friends. Why bother us?"
(Idk what orcs speak either) Leif kept his bow aimed on what to seem to be the leader. He waited for it to answer Dia.
"You speak Orc," said the one in surprise. She rolled her eyes. "No duh," she muttered in Dwarvish, and then switched to Orc tongue. "Let us pass, in the name of the great Pale Orc!" inwardly, she shuddered, but they moved aside. "Tell your Elven prey to keep his bow lowered, the snarled. She nodded. "Leif, put the bow down," she said in quick Elvish.
"I am not her prey," Leif retorted as he slightly lowered his bow. He glared at Dia, "Let's go."
She gave her thanks to them in Orcish and rode past them, not speaking to Leif and hjoping he woldn't ask about how she knew so many languages.
Leif took Krest's reigns and led him so Dia wouldn't spook riding him alone. He never let the leader of the orc group out of his sight though. The pig took up the rear as they made their way down the path.
When they finally were a good distance away Leif said, "That was impressive. Most dwarves don't know orc."
"Thanks," Dia said shortly.
"How did you come by to learn it enough to speak it?"
Dia glared at him. "It's none of your buisness," she muttered. Clay began grunting and she swiveled her glare unto him.
Leif picked up that Dia thought this was a very sensitive subject- one even the pig knew something about.
"Well, I hope it comes in very handy later," leif said, "Because we have to go to Mordor."
