Fera hissed deep in her throat to protest the raise of the volume in the car. She already thought that her eardrums were bursting. A sly smile crept onto her face and she shouted suddenly, "Pull over here!"
Orr elbowed Bubba, hoping that whatever Fera requested would be productive. They were passing a small town with a gas station and a couple of restaraunts.
Grumbling, Bubba pulled over. "What? Do ya need to take a leak or something?"
Cypress shook her head and pointed, "I think we saw something in those trees, Bubba! It was pretty big!"
Bubba perked up. Something big huh?
He grinned and kicked open his door and grabbed his favorite knife. "I'll check it out ladies, don't you worry!" he grabbed the keys for good measure so he oculd still drive. "I'll be back faster than you can say speedy."
Fera grinned. "Quick, we need to mess with the radio!" Orr leapt out of the car behind Bubba as Fera motioned for Cypress to hop into the passenger seat. "I don't know how we would cut the radio wire, but would you care to give them a fright?" She gripped the steering wheel, and turned the key that Bubba had conveniently left in the car.
Cypress giggled. "I knew this trip would be ten times as fun if you came!"
Bubba ran into the trees. He was surprisingly stealthy for a man of his size. He crept forward and took a deep breath. He couldn't smell anything...
((sorry it took so long to relpy. TI wouldn't let me on :P))
((no problem. It won't even let me get to the MyStuff page))
Fera adjusted her glasses and tucked her hair back into her hood. "It'll be a thousand times more fun when we see their faces." She could not keep the devious smile from her face.
Orr followed Bubba through the woods. There were no tracks, and no evidence that something had walked there. That was when he turned around to find the wheels of their car spinning around the parking lot.
((It won't let me go there either ))
Bubba looked up, "HEY!"
He began to run after them. Them darned women were gonna give him an ulcer!
Cypress laughed and took a few pictures of Bubba's and Orr's surprised faces. This was soooo fun!
Fera slammed on the gas, and they sped up. She didn't intend on leaving them behind, but she couldn't make herself stop laughing.
Orr chased the car with a shocked look on his face. Fera peered out the window. "This could be your daily run!" she teased, and rolled the window back up.
"Get back here you mangy women!" Bubba shouted and ran forward.
Cypress was laughing so hard that her gut hurt. But suddenly she gasped and screamed, "Stop the car!!!"
Fera slammed her foot against the break, and the boys ran to catch up with them. Fera quickly locked the doors to keep the joke going as long as possible. She turned to Cypress. "What? What did you see?"
Orr jiggled the door handle, but to no avail, so he resorted to banging on the windows.
Bubba glared at the car and the girls. "Open up!"
Cypress shoved her door open and ran to the edge of the woods and knelt down by a dead deer. It had been torn to sreds and large footprints was all around the body. "What did this?"
"Bear," Fera said with confidence. "You'll notice that the footprints are disfigured with age and the claw imprints at the end of the feet." She adjusted her glasses again and pointed to claw marks on the deer's body. "Only something with claws could have done that, and the footprints suggest a quadriped. the front footprints are shaped differently than the back ones." She stepped back once she had delivered her verdict.
Orr took a closer look. "It could be a squatch." He examined the claw markss. "Maybea bear passed through, and then a squatch did. After all, you did say you saw something."
Fera snorted. "That was just to get you out of the car."
Bubba squinted at the mauled deer. "Hate to admit, but I don't think it was Bigfoot either." he shook his head sadly. "A shame."
"Oh," Cypress said. She felt a little stupid now. But not all creatures cold rip apart a deer like that....
Fera caught a glimpse of Cypress's expression. "It's fine," she said. "This provides valuable insight into the animal activity in this area." She put her hand on Cypress's shoulder.
Orr scratched his nose. "Everybody get back in the car."
Bubba ran back to the driver's seat before someone else could grab it. He glared in the rear-veiw mirror as the girls slipped back into the back seat. "That wasn't funny."
Cypress picked her camera up and took a picture of Bubba's red face to hide her own. She had acted like such a baby. Screaming like that and ruining hers and Fera's fun...
"That was smart of you," Fera said comfortingly. "Every sign of life in this forest is important, down to the smallest leaf. We needed to see that. Now we know that there are bears here, along with various scavengers. If there are bears, then sasquatches might have to compete with them for food."
Orr looked into the rearview mirror. "Can I see the pictures you took of us? I'd really like to know how stupid I looked chasing after you guys in the car."
Cypress smiled in apreciation. "Yeah. Do you want to see them too Fera? They're hilarious."
Bubba grumbled something under his breath. "Yeah, yeah. How much further anyways, Orr. You said you had this great spot in mind or something?"
"Yeah, only a couple hours," Orr replied. "We'll stop for fast food on the way." He glanced at the girls. "And we'll take the keys with us." He glared at them.
Fera nodded eagerly. "Of course I want to see them. Revenge is sweet."
Bubba's stomach growled. Food sounded like a good idea. And so did taking the keys with him.....
Cypress handed her camera to Fera. There were ALL kinds of pictures of them running and shouting at them.
