Autumn held on to a bit of Sionns clothing (fur?) as he ran. "I'm fine." she replied happy to feel the windd again.
Sionn looked back as he heard an automatic weapon being fired into the trees. He propped the door against a tree. "I'll be right back." He said. "I promise." Sionn bolted off, away from the cover of the trees, transforming in mid stride. A few stray bullets pierced through him, and he faltered, darting to the side. As the men gained their bearings, Sionn continued to run around chaotically in distraction, giving the others a chance to run. He grabbed the last man in line and tackled him to the ground. A rain of bullets fell down on him, Sionn shifted back to his human form and took the machine gun from the fallen man, running back to the safety of the woods. "Take this." He said to Ardi, shoving the gun into her hands and picking up the door.
after changing back to her human form she grabbed the gun and was careful to stay under the door. When gaurds game she began firing at them in the legs and arms not wanting to kill them. "Are we there yet." she yelled firing at a gaurd.
Cass snarled as a bullet sliced her shoulder. She turned on the nearest guard and through him hard into a nearby tree before taking his weapon from him. She fired a couple of rounds at them while backing up slowly.
"I think I know a safe place to retreat to," she shouted at the others. "We won't be able to fight them off forever!"
"you guys might not be able to but I can." said Ardi as the rain began to stop. When it did stop she came out from under the door and transformed into a Pheonix. She flew up into the air and shot down flaming fireballs that landed at the gaurds feet melting there pathetic guns. They ran away like scared school girls. "We should hurry before they decide to get the tanks." said Ardi.
Tayse pulled his sister through the trees, staying behind her to shield he from any bullets. He heard a scream and looked back to see a guard dropping a glowing gun and holding his hand, bits of molten metal stuck to it.
He saw movement in the trees maybe thirty yards from him, and knew there were still at least a couple hiding in the trees. Ardi wouldn't be able to see them from above, the thick branches would block her vision.
Morphing into a white tiger, he threw himself at the guard as he came into view. A gush of blood from his throat and the man fell dead.
"Good job, Ardi!" Cass shouted.
She dragged her hand along the watery grass and felt strenght swell inside of her. She picked up a large log and threw it ten feet before hitting two guards and knocking them flat. The water was giving back to her what the humans had taken.
"Follow me!" she shouted at the others.
She thought about the small hut that was nearby that one of the captives had told her about before he had been killed. He said it was protected with magic that made human's blind- much like a glamour. That place would buy them one night or two to think about what to do and where to go.
Tilt and Tayse followed, the ground freezing behind them, causing a guard to slip and miss them.
"Where are we-" Tilt started to call ahead, but cut off as her brother, still in tiger form, snarled in pain. A bullet had hit him in the back, and the iron weakened his power, forcing him to turn back into his normal shape.
He stumbled and fell, and Tilt leaped over him to get to his attacker. Full of viscious anger, she snapped his neck before kneeling next to her brother, who was trying to get up. "Tayse, we have to go, now." she urged, attempting to pull him to his feet.
Ardi's eyes flared with vicious anger when she saw Tayse get shot and fall. She transformed into her small bird form and flew over to a group of gaurds unaware of what she was to do. She transformed into a pheonix and burned all of the men. They all fell in pain running to the ground to stop from burning and being on fire. Ardi flew over to Tayse and offered to put him on her back.
"Run ahead." Sionn said, appearing from the bushes in a dead sprint. He was grinning, nearly bursting with excitement. "I found something." He said. "But seriously, run for your life." But it was to late for that. An explosion lit up the sky and shook the ground, knocking everyone in proximity to the lab off their feet. Sionn quickly got up and shook himself off. After the initial burst, the forest was silent. Sionn watched the flames and smoke in the sky, if he was in his wolf form, his tail would be wagging. He whistled long and low. "I swear I didn't know it would be that big." He insisted. "Cyclotetramethylene-tetranitramine... hmm, I learned something today." Now that was a distraction, the humans would be cleaning this mess up for weeks.
Tayse shook his head, grimacing in pain. "You're to warm." He was an ice faerie, touching someone so hot wasn't exactly comfortable. He stumbled on as fast as he could manage, leaning heavily on Tilt.
Looking over at Sionn, he asked, "Where'd you get that?"
"They took me to a biochemical lab once... Well anyways, I just took a few jars and test tubes that looked ominous, mixed em all together, poured it into a plastic tube and lit a fuse." Sionn said in one breath as he shrugged his shoulders. He continued staring at the mesmerizing cloud of ash and smoke. "Whatever, it's done now." He said, shifting into his wolf form and scurrying away into the trees. He started to sniff a path through the woods that would lead them away from civilization.
Cass nodded ato Sionn, "Good job."
She turned and looked into the forest. There, at the very edge of her vision was the cabin. "There! LEt's go!"
"That wasn't very smart on their part." Tayse said, Stumbling on as best he could, but Tilt was mostly dragging him by now. The cabin seemed so far...
And it also looked like it was getting farther away. Or his vision was messing with him.
Cass shivered as she ran through the glamour barrier. It felt like a cold hand on her neck. She went inside the shack and peered in. It was full of supplies and food and clothes. She sighed in reilef when she saw the First Aid kit.
Sionn galloped into the cabin at top speed and nearly crashed into the far wall. He knocked over a chair and shook himself off, yipping softly as he settled down in the corner to clean himself of blood. Sionn watched Cass look over the supplies out of the corner of his eye as he licked his paws.
Cass glanced at Sionn. He was absolutely covered in blood. She held up the first aid kit. "Do you need some?"
She had checked her own self and was releived to fine that the rain had healed her of all of her injuries.
Tilt managed to get her brother the rest of the way to the cabin and settled him on the floor to check his wounds. "Does anyone have pliers or something?" she asked, seeing that the bullet was still in his back. The wound itself wasn't too bad, but the iron bullet was agonizing, and he wouldn't heal with it still there. But she still shuddered at the thought of putting anything metal inside of him, even just to remove it.
Sionn shook his furry head and got to his feet. He would heal entirely soon, as he had been lucky enough to not be shot with silver. What human would waste silver on a bullet anyways? Sionn glanced at Tayse with a gold stare and shifted back into his human form, leaving his claws sharp and elongated. "This'll hurt." He said hoarsely, reaching for the bullet and easing it out. When he got the dam.ned thing out, he tossed it across the floor. His claws morphed back into human fingernails and Sionn found some clothes that fit and put them on. "Does anyone know where we are? The scientists were American, but that doesn't tell us much."
Cass tossed the bandages to Tilt. And pointed to a book on the table. It was worn and made from blue leather with yellowing pages.
"That is supposed to help us. The creature that told me about this place said everything we needed to know to escape to a safe haven was in there."
