He didn't relish speaking to this girl, but he'd already become well-known at the school, so whatever. "Gunner. Gunnver Van Neilson."

"Mine's Terrylee Brewer. It's nice to meet you, Gunner Van Nielson," she told him, still staring into his eyes.

He looked away. The hospital wasn't as close as his house. But he preferred returning her home. "How far away do you live?"

Terrylee nodded in the direction of the house across from Gunner. "There."

Gunner began to help her down the road to her house. He noticed the absence of vehicles in the driveway. "Is anybody home?" he asked.

Terrylee winced. "My brother is. I think," she muttered hatefully.

He noticed the tone in Terrylee's voice. It was the same tone that he discussed a lot of people in. "My house it is," he stated, hoping he wasn't sending the wrong message.

She looked at him in surprise. "Your mother won't mind that you're bringing a strange girl home on the first day of school?"

Gunner smirked. "I've done it before." He realized his mistake. "Umm, not in that way. I had them in there because we wanted to hang out-" he abruptly stopped. He was babbling.

Terrylee chuckled lightly. "It's alright. I understand." She told herself the hot feeling that flashed inside her was not irrationaly jealousy.

He led her to his front door and opened it. The dark living room looked like the most inviting place in the world. Well, ecept for the strange girl he was leading into there. He led her to the couch and sat her down. "I'll go get you something to drink", he said, then hurried out of the room.

Terrylee looked around. Her eyes lit up when she saw a keyboard. She dragged herself over to it as quietly as she could and ran her hands over the keys. She bit her lip. Should she?

Gunner grabbed a bottled water from the freezer after agonizing over what to get for five minutes. He went back out, then stopped before leaving the kitchen. Should he keep doing this? It would look suspicious. Eh, who cares. Gunner took her out the water, noticing the fingers grazing the keyboard. "You know, it's on."

Terrylee jumped back. "Oh! I'm sorry. I.....I just...." she blushed. "I love the keyboard. Do you mind if I play?"

What a nervous girl. Jesus. "Yeah, go ahead. I'll be in my room. If we went back to school now, we'd be dead anyways." He went to his room, where his bed waited. He was tired. So tired...

Terrylee slowly slid onto the bench. Her fingers hovered over the keys. Her right hand began to play an octave C minor chord very quickly and her left hand played a slow, strong melody.

...Great. He was hearing piano music in his head. Definitely time for a true nap. He crashed out the second he hit the pillow.
