Are you a sap who likes to do 1x1's?

Oct. 16, 2012 at 10:50 am

Raven nodded, hardly able to contain herself at the thought of fresh blood. "Yes, I'm in." So definitely in.

"All right then. There's a spare bedroom on the left," he pointed down the hallway, "and I'll wake you first thing tomorrow. Now get some sleep; if my hunch is right, you'll need it."

Raven rolled her eyes. "I don't need sleep, not for months. I've got errands anyway, and something to sell."

Antonio looked at the stubborn young woman curiously. What errands would she run? But trust was necessary in this case. "Okay, but I'm leaving to investigae the case of the escaped convict early this morning, so if you want something to drink, you should be back by then."

Raven nodded. "Of course." She was relieved he didn't ask anything of the errands she mentioned.

"All right." Antonio turned the lights out in his office, assuming that Raven could see in the darkness, and trudged upstairs to his warm bed. It had been a long night, and without at least some sleep, it was bound to be an even longer morning.

Raven disappeared swiftly.

The next morning she arrived, cutting it rather close and nearly being late.

Antonio was already up, and somewhat surprised that Raven had elected to return. But he shook off his suspicion and combed out his hair. "Okay," he said, grabbing a bag off of his desk. "Down in the city area is where we need to go. You get your breakfast down there while I investigate the convict's kill, and then later I need you to come with me to a vampire kill. Any criminals caught you are free to drink from."

A smile slipped onto Raven's face. "That, my friend, is music to my ears." She very much looked forward to all of this. With this partnership she'd definitely be getting a good deal of blood, and without any chances of catching someone's attention she didn't want. Why? Because she was under a detective now.

"Here, take this hat," he says. "It displays you as my assistant, and no one will be suspicious of you." He put on a similar hat of his own, and strode into the morning air. The cobblestone was shiny with water, but it seemed much less musty and humid than it had the previous night, and Antonio smiled. It appeared to have changed for him when he discovered the secrets behind his latest case. He turned back to Raven, and stepped into the streets.

Raven had a look of distaste as she clutched the hat in her hand. "Do I really have to wear this? I hate hats!"

"Well then don't let them see your face," he said exasperatedly. "They'll ask for your identity as a detective, and we'll both have to think fast before we end up in prison. So just be inconspicuous and we had best get going."

In defeat, Raven just put the hat on and followed him, grumbling unintelligably to herself and probably sounding a bit like a crazy person.

The streets were quiet, but as they moved closer to town, the bustling of undertakers could be heard, as well as shopkeepers moving about before they opened their shops. Antonio moved swiftly toward the house of wealthy Borne Grayson, dead at midnight last night. The body had not been moved since his time of death, and whoever had shot him had very good aim, because there was only one bullet that had hit the nobleman. "Okay," Antonio said to Raven. "I'm going to get breakfast at the shop down the street; I'm putting up a barrier around this house, and your breakfast is right in front of you. I'll meet you back here in an hour or so."

Raven nodded. "Sounds reasonable to me." An hour later she sat contently waiting for Antonio's return. All traces of her blood-drinking were gone from herself.

Antonio walked in from breakfast happily, for along with a fine meal, he had gotten a piece of information: Borne Grayson's heir lived in the city, and had recieved an estate that he was moving into in the countryside from Grayson's will. "Hello," he said to Raven. "Now I need to gather evidence from the bullet wound, and then I really need your help, because next there is a recent vampire kill."

"Whatever you say, blood boy." Raven told him, in an extremely good mood now. How could she not be in a good mood?

The next house visited held a shocking display. The victim was stark white with two little holes in his neck, that did not look like those left by Raven's fangs on Borne Grayson's body. They were wider, almost like dog teeth. "Do you think this is the work of a mix?" Antonio asked solemnly.
