"NAme it. I'll take you there. I mean it, I don't reallly have any place in mind." Ace spoke calmly as he leaned against his car.
"Umm, well I really like the park down the street. I bet no one is there this late." She answered. She was still holding his hand, and it made her feel safe.
Ace smiled and began walking. "It's a walk, right?" He smiled.
"No I think we should skip." She saw Ace stop, and laughed. "I'm kidding. Yes it's a walk." She led him to the park and it was empty, like she predicted. She stepped onto the stoned path, and turned to face Ace. "So, I hate to ruin the moment, but you promised to explain." She looked into his eyes, all serious and wondering.
He laughed. He gave a crooked smile. "Think of your favorite super hero, what are his traits?" This was the simplest way to start.
Aizlynn thought. "Well, me and my little brother always watched Batman when I was a kid. I guess he is strong and brave. But what does that have to do with you?"
((omg I freaking love Batman...))
Ace smiled. "Imagine super stregth, adn super speed. Super hearing, vision, smell, mind reading..." Not to mention drinking blood, Ace thought to himself. "What do you think of?"
Aizlynn thought to herself. "..Superman with mind reading abilities?" She asked.
Ace grimaced. He laughed. "Pop quiz. What drinks blood and is very mystic and popular lately?" He figured that she would guess correctly and she would freak.
Aizlynn froze, her eyes growing wide as she looked at her date. "You're...." She couldn't finish. He has to be kidding. Vampires don't exist. That can't be right. "You're a...." She backed away, scared of this..creature...she had spent the evening with.
"Vampire. But, I'm not like others.... I rely either on donor blood, or animal, usually animals." HE tried to smile, but it came out as a slight grimace. "Sorry. But it's the truth."
Aizlynn put a hand over her mouth, and ran over to a bench on the sidewalk. She sat down, pulled her knees to her face, and started to cry.
Ace frowned, but rushed to her. He put a hand on her back. "What's wrong?" He knew he had upset her with the truth.
Aizlynn suddered at his touch. "Just, this isn't possible...I trusted you, and now I find out you're a killer..."
Ace shook his head. "i'm not a killer. I haven't ever killed anyone..... Ever. You HAVE to trust me. I wouldn't ever harm anyone. I'm not the type." He sighed and hung his head. "You're the only person I've ever trusted to tell this. No one else knows. When I first got turned, my old friends thought I was a monster."
(( BUMP ))
((Sorry ran out of time.))
Aizlynn looked up at him. She met his eyes, the sincerity of what he was saying shone through. She didn't see him as a monster, but when you a raised hearing stories of vampires being evil, bloodsucking monsters, and then you meet one and he is the nicest guy ever, it's mindblowing. She tried to focus on him as Ace, not as a vampire from legends and make-believe stories. "I don't." She whispered. She looked at him, her eyes puffy from tears. "I don't think of you like that."
Ace smiled, but his face was obscured from view. "You don't.... Think I'm a monster? Even after all that I've told you?"
"No." She looked at him, trying to look at his face. "I met you as Ace, a normal guy who goes to my school. You're still the guy I went on a date with. However..." She paused. "I still think of vampires as monsters."
Ace frowned. "I guess you hate that part of me, then." He looked up at her with misty eyes. His eyes had become dull. "Or am I mistaken?" He sniffed.
