"That bad, huh?" Bri asked, trying to change the subject. She had seen how confused he was about her 'It's not my fault' thing. Great. He probably thinks I need mental help or something now. She sighed again, staring down into her bowl. Just the thought of eating that stuff made her stomach churn.

Bri winced as Zinc tossed his food. "Are you OK?" She came around to sit beside him. "That stuff must be foul. But I bet we'll learn to eat it if that's all they serve." She smiled weakly. "I don't suppose you would accept an offer for another bowl of... stuff, then, will you?" She laughed, but her heart wasn't in it. I wish I was home... She patted Zinc on the back, and wished she could actually do something to help.

Some guards came over. Two began to clean up the mess, the other two simply stood there, taunting Zinc. "Don't listen to them." She said quietly.

"Oh, sure, that's fine," Myra replied to Ettos. She tried to smile politely but with the pain of the cuffs it came out more frown like. She took her tray and looked down at the bowl. It looked more like sludge than food, she thought.

She smiled again, with slightly more strength this time. "Are you feeling better?" She was genuinely concerned about him, although she'd known him for all of 20 minutes. Anyone in here is a potential friend.

Myra looked over at another table, and met a girl's (Bri) gaze. She smiled briefly before turning back to the goop on her plate. Rather than eat it, she shaped it around with a fork, making it into a star shape.

"How pretty! My sister used to draw with her food all the time, especially when she didn't like it"
Ettos understood it wasn't the right time to refer to the past. He forced a smile to cover the tears that were ready to cross his cheeks and looked at the direction Myra was looking. Oh Thank God, I found Zinc...he was just beside me!
He sat quickly near him and waited for Myra to sit too so that he could start eating. When he lived with his family, no one was allowed to eat until everyone was served...

"That's good." Bri said, smiling. She looked down at her bowl, knowing that she needed nutrients. Not that this slop has any. ''I hope they serve something different for breakfast in the morning." She said, trying to sound bright. But breakfast seemed so far away... And she was hungry...

Trying to think about something other than her stomach, Bri turned to the people who had sat down beside Zinc. "Hi."

Ettos smiled at the girl who was sitting beside Zinc and nodded.
"I'm Ettos. Nice to meet you"
he said and then tried to understand what was the thing that he was supposed to eat. He noticed the look that Zinc had on his face and turned at him quite concerned.
"You know, it may be not the tastiest and best food you ever eaten but we have no other choice. I think we should eat it anyway. It's better than nothing"
He tried to sound positive like he did every time he tried to convince his siblings to eat their food. Somehow Zinc reminded him of his younger brothers.

Myra hurried over to the table with her bowl, and sat down next to Ettos. "Hello," she said, trying to sound positive. She surveyed the tables around them. "How can they eat this stuff?" she wondered aloud.

"I'm Bri. It's... uh... it's nice to meet you." She smiled a little. It would be nicer if we weren't here, but we are. "She looked down at her food again. "I know we need the nutrients-- although I'm really not sure this has any-- but I don't think I can eat this stuff yet. I saw what it did to Zinc and... well let's just say it wasn't pretty."

Well would someone post? I would, but I would be posting twice in a row, and that's not very much fun...

(Hey, I'm going to see if we can get someone else to post. If no one else is though, we can take a break and we'll restart this up later when I'm not so busy... Sound good?)

Bri smiled and opened her mouth to say something, but a voice interrupted what she was about to say. It was projected over the loud speakers, and so scratchy you almost couldn't tell what they were saying, but Bri managed to pick out, "Meal-- -- over." The guards began barking orders and shuffling people out of the halls. The boys one way the girls another. Bri smiled at Zinc and mouthed as they were swept their seperate directions by the crowd, See you later!

((Ahh, I'm back!)) Myra struggled to keep Bri in sight. She hadn't eaten anything, and she was hungrier than ever. "Bri!" she called. "Wait!" But she doubted she could be heard over everything else.

((YAY!))
Bri saw Myra, and could tell that she was trying to stay with her. Without drawing too much attention to herself, she began walking slower in the line, letting others pass in front of her. Then, when she was close enough, she grabbed Myra's hand and held on. I may feel childish, but I don't want to get swept away from her. I need her right now...
