((Go Ohio!)) Zeva carefully got back to ground level, narrowly avoiding hitting her head again. "Ok, so did any of you see a sympathetic guard or something? Someone we could bribe?"
"I saw one" pointed out Autumn "Except she was a nurse.
"And I saw one. Front desk checked me in" replied Michele
"Could they help us sneak out though? A nurse could help us survive in the meantime, but the woman at the front desk probably doesn't have much use," Zeva pointed out.
"We need someone who can operate a helicopter," Myra pointed out. "And someone who it's excusable to be seen alone with."
"Exactly. Or even just a guard. They carry keys, right? If anything they could get us some information or introduce us to some people who can help us more," Zeva agreead, nodding her head.
"What we really need," said Myra, thrusting out her wrists, "is to get these stupid handcuffs off. The rest would be very simple." She sighed, then thought of something. "Okay, here's a thought; what if we were somehow able to, I don't know, hide, while we we're free, during the workday? Just one of us. Hide until we're supposed to get the cuffs back on, and somehow trick the guards. Maybe then we'd be able to get them off long enough for whatever's in them that's diminishing our power to wear off."
"I like it. I think I would be able to do it. I'm used to sneaking off for things, though they were much less serious than this," Zeva offered. She always told her parents that pranking wasn't such a bad thing.
"We should at least try it out, anyway. Even if it fails, we'll know how not to escape." Myra blew her hair out her face again.
Myra considered this. "Not if we slip away while we're supposed to be working, then come back right when they call roll to go back. Maybe someone can create a distraction, so they can sneak past without getting the cuffs again."
"What I'm getting at is, they have to take the cuffs off for us to work, right? And I know they would never let us take them off long enough for anything to wear off. If someone with a useful power managed to get past a guard without getting their cuffs back on, we may have enough time for whatever it is to wear off." Myra explained.
"Sir?" Ettos smile widened and shook his head. This boy really seemed to be more frightened than he was. At least, he had someone to talk to in this horrible place. He looked at the handcuffs again and frowned. He hated that feeling-it was like he was blind at the same time.
"So,Zinc, would you rather have the upper or the down bunk?" he said and looked outiside the door. What would they be forced to do next?
"Ok, it was funny at first but now I think you should cut this mr and sir thing. I'm just two or three years older than you Zinc, you don't have to act like I'm fifty"
He laughed to show that he wasn't mad, just amused. His younger brothers and sisters always called him Et and talked to him like he was at the same age or even younger than them. He wanted to believe that he made people feel comfortable but Zinc didn't seem a very outgoing person.
He hopped on the lowest one and laid down. Maybe this could be one of the few chances fro him to relax a bit.
"God only knows what'll happen to us" he said in a somewhat sad voice.
Ettos stood up immediately and couldn't help but think how slow he was with the handcuffs on. These things really made him realise how bond he was with his powers.
"I'm sorry, Zinc, I guess I'll take the medium one"he said nervously and and sat on the medium bunk.
"I know this is a kind of personal question and you don't have to answer if you don't want, but what kind of powers did you have before..."
He stopped and showed him his handcuffs. It was one of the few times he had ever felt so nervous.
"I could see, hear, feel and move better than others." he replied and sighed. He couldn't understand how people could actually live like that, without being able to hear, see and feel the real world. It seemed so dull and depressing to him.
"But, being able to control your own and the other's dreams sounds cool. I haven't seen a dream for a long time..."
It was true, he didn't really like dreams. They were all a blur in comparison to the real intense world.
Eione turned, snapping out of her thoughts. Listening to the girl's conversation, she considered for a few moments. "Well - and sorry for just kind of popping in on your conversation, I'm Eione by the way. But from the way you're talking, it sounds like you've kind of already figured it out with the cuffs. Problem is that, while I do agree that it has to be these things keeping us from our powers, we should probably spend a little bit of time wondering how. Wouldn't want to go through all of this trouble trying to get out of here only to be stopped by something, right?" Shifting her weight, she drew her legs up underneath of her, trying to get more comfortable. "The cuffs immediately cut off our powers. But is there anything else here that could lessen our powers? I mean after all, what is it about these cuffs that take them away? What if our tools are made from them? What if it's infused into these clothes? How close to our bodies do they have to be to effect us?" Blinking, pulling off her questions, she shrugged. "Just things to consider. If we're going to do it, we've got to make sure we do it right. I'd hate to see what happens to those who try to escape and fail..."
Stroking her chin almost as if there was a beard there, Zeva thought. "That's possible, that's very possible. Is there anywhere we could write this down to keep it recorded? There's a lot of good ideas here. I don't want to forget them."
Myra sighed. "You're right. Whatever it is, they probably put it in everything, the clothes, the food, the air..." She shook her head. "They wouldn't want to take any chances."
"So the the main problem is getting away from it all. I wonder, if they do have it in the hair, if it's just in this compound or on the whole island?" Zeva asked.
Eione grimaced. She didn't have anything to write with that she knew of. "If we don't have anything, I'll ask a guard later? Maybe we can say that we want to keep a diary or something... I'm not sure if they'd let us, but might as well try. I'm sure we can find a place to stash our notes." Leaning back, hands pressed to her temples. What powers even existed? Hers was a mental powers that could effect the brain into thinking it was phsyically in harm, even telling someone to do themselves harm. yet, what else was out there? Their powers just weren't completely... dead, right? "Do you mind if I try something?" Eione asked, looking up. Perhaps, because everyone had powers, they could feel a dull awareness of them that the guards couldn't? Unless the guards also had powers... it wasn't much to go by ,and she knew she was lying to herself, but she wanted to be sure. Just in case.
Myra pulled her legs up onto the bunk, and sat cross-legged. "What is it?" she asked.
