"Alright.",Annox said as he put the car in park. "Meet me back in this car in a half an hour or less, I'll wait for you." Of course Annox had no where to go, he just wanted to make sure they were okay.
"You got it, kid.",Nikki said as she opened the door to get out.
Tory got out of the car, "Thanks."
"I told you he was cool.",Nikki said with a smile planted on her face. She looked at her reflection and sighed. She was going to look different with black hair and she wasn't sure if she'd like it. She would do anything to keep herself and Tory safe.
"Yup." Tory looked around the area, and spotted a thrift store. Nodding towards it, he suggested it was a shopping destination, "If we're trying to save money, that should be a good place."
"You're right, we should go there.",Nikki said. She walked inside the dark thrift store and began to look around. "What's something I would never wear?",she asked herself quietly.
Tory walked a little ways away, careful to keep Nikki in his sight in case their kidnappers showed up. He found a jacket that was a bit like his old one, just much, much darker. Almost black. The price tag said six dollars, and he found out why it was so cheap. there was a big stain on the inside lining-the lining was cream colored, so the stain showed better-that looked like someone had spilled soda on it. He didn't used to wear black much, but he was pretending to be someone else.
"Have you found anything?" he asked as he headed toward the hats.
Nikki had found a blue button down shirt and a black pair of low boots. The blue shirt had a different patterned pocket, and the boots like very old and out of style. "Yeah, sadly.",Nikki said with a shiver. "I figured I could keep my shorts, since I don't want to waist too much money."
Tory nodded, picking up a navy blue hat that was stretchy and big enough to cover all his hair. "I'm done. Are there any small bills in there?"
"I don't know, I haven't checked.",Nikki said honestly. In reality she didn't know what "small bills" he was referring to.
"Well it would look weird if we gave them a hundred for cheap clothes." Tory said as he checked the price on the hat. One dollar.
Nikki grabbed the pricetag of the shirt to check and it was only four dollars. The boots were six and that was already ten. "Maybe I'll just have Annox run some scissors through my hair.",Nikki told him. "They probably won't have dye here anyway."
"Probably. They might have a wig, though." Tory said with a grin.
Nikki went to go take a look at the wigs which were a few paces to her right. She saw a grey rat crawl through one and she jumped. "Yeah, let's not get one here.",she said with a frightened laugh.
"This place is sanitary..." Tory said wryly. "Let's buy these and head for a drug store for dye."
"Sounds like a plan.",Nikki said as she strode towards the cash register. She placed her items on the counter and waited for Tory to do the same.
Tory set his down and ignored the girl behind the counter's look. She was staring at his eye, or lack thereof.
"That'll be seventeen dollars.",The cashier said in a deep voice.
Nikki put the money on the table. "Thank you very much.",She said. She watched as the cashier bagged their things and handed them to her.
Tory opened the door for her, "I see a Rite Aid over there. They should have hair dye, fresh bandages, and sunglasses." All the sunglasses he'd seen in there were broken.
"Yeah, it shouldn't be a problem.",Nikki said honestly. "How's your eye feeling by the way?" Nikki didn't want to badger him about it, but she wanted to make sure he was okay.
"It's okay, I guess. It throbs a bit, but not too bad." Tory answered, walking across the parking lot.
