Liam shrugged. "It was alright, I suppose. I went away with my familt, the same place as usual, but it wasn't much fun. Trying to stuff twenty people into a caravan and two tents really isn't very logical." He smiled at her. She wasn't as bad as he had feared.

"Twenty people?",Claire asked wide eyed,"You must have a lot of brothers and sisters, lucky for me I only have two and I'm the youngest." She leaned back in her chair, slightly more relaxed. "I don't think I could imagine a house with twenty children running around it. Your parents must have a handful of work to do." She didn't mind talking about parents, even though she didn't have any.

"Well, I have eight siblings," Liam explained. "I'm the youngest so our house isn't really that crowded because almost everyone's moved out. A few of them have partners and kids of their own so that's why it was so busy on holiday. My parents are kind of big on sticking together as a family. Heaven forbid anyone spent their free time anywhere other than with the rest of us. Anyway, what about your family?"

"Well...",Claire started out as she began to place words in her mind,"I live with my brothers and we all work, in fact I work at the pizza place right down the block from here. My brother Calvin works at Target and my brother Clark works at Harris National Bank." She shrugged her shoulders up and down,"After I'm done with school and work, we order in and talk about what are days were like, although other than school and work I'm around them mostly as well." She didn't mention anything about her parents.

Liam got out his pencil case and reading glasses. He didn't really need them, but they made him look more intellectual. "It sounds like you guys are close then?" he smiled. "It must be nice having your brothers to talk to. What sort of thing do your like to do for fun?"

"I like to go camping, play some xbox, watch movies, and I go to the parties I get invited to when I can.",Claire explained. "What about you? What do you like to do for fun?" She didn't know if Liam had much time to hang out either, he was always around his family it appeared.

Liam shrugged. "I stay out of the house as much as possible. I love my family, of course I do, but they don't half get on my nerves," he told her. "I go into town a lot, and to parties occasionally at the weekend. The main thing I like to do is go running. I go at least every day, sometimes twice or three times if I have time."

"I ride the subway so it's like a mile walk here and back from home to school.",Claire explained. She sighed deeply, she knew she couldn't run, because she was too sick to do that, all of the nose bleeds weren't normal. "Other than that I do what everybody does, the ocassional jumping jack or sit up." She giggled lightly. She was in good shape even though she didn't work out, because of her metabolism.

Liam laughed, doodling on the table. "I guess I wouldn't ever be able to cope with not running. It just makes me happy, you know?" He looked up at her. "Speaking of what makes people happy, I assume you like reading and stuff, right? You know, because of the whole summer camp thing."

"Yeah, reading's cool.",Claire shrugged,"I'm really more of a writer and a listener though, and it's not just me that writes, it comes from the heart, and the pen bleeds it out for me, involuntarily of course." She looked at the teacher who began to speak and then down at her schedule. Mr. Pidelon, was it?

Liam raised an eyebrow. "Um, wow. That's certainly one way to put it," he muttered. "Anyway, I asked because one of my sisters is setting up a new secondhand bookshop just outside of town. I just thought it might be the sort of thing that would appeal to you."

"Yeah, I'd love that sort of thing.",Claire explained,"Maybe one day you could grab a slice of pizza or something, and we could go to the bookshop." She had always wanted her own copy of To Kill a Mockingbird, but she always had to share with her reading partner.

"Are you free this Saturday then?" he asked, not quite sure why he was agreeing. Claire seemed like a nice girl and all but he hoped she didn't think it was a date. He liked her in a friend way at the moment, he had only known her half an hour. "And I think I go running past the pizza place, so I might be able to pop in to say hi a few times."

"Saturday....",Claire said while tapping her finger on the desk,"Oh, yes, I'm free." She had a bright smile on her face when she said this. "I just need to tell Clark I'll be going out with a buddy of mine from school." She wasn't the type of girl to fall head over heals for a guy on the first day, she simply wouldn't. She found the concept of love proposterous at times.

Liam almost laughed. Claire said 'buddy'? He was sure that word had died out. It was kind of adorable though. He fought to keep the smirk off his face. "I can come pick you up from your house if you like and then we can go for pizza after the book shop.

"Yeah, sure thing.",Claire said happily. She ripped out a piece of notebook paper and wrote her adress, cell number, and name. She handed it over to Liam with no problem, she assumed he was a good guy, because her school didn't have many criminals. "Say around 11 or 12? I have to be back at work at 4 o'clock."

"Sounds good," Liam replied. He took her hand and wrote his number on the back of it. "Just in case you need to call me. You know, about homework or whatever."
He turned to the teacher who had started the lesson. He pretended to take notes in his notepad but instead doodled in the margins, his mind distracted.

The teacher was rambling off about some book. To Kill a Mocking Bird, was it? Claire instantly became hooked on whatever it was until, he assigned vocabulary homework. Claire knew what most of these meant already, but she knew her absence of homework wouldn't be excused if she didn't do it. She began to copy down the words in a clear, script, handwriting.
