"So there will still be some sneaking around?" Liam questioned, a teasing smile on his face. "I suppose it's better they know. They'll only be hurt if they find out you didn't want to tell them."
"Well, unless you want to be able to see me like once a month, then there will be some sneaking around.",Claire explained. "I for one would love to spend more than once a month with my boyfriend." She remembered what her brother Clark said about going over people's houses. You can't be a burden on them because you don't know what's going on in their life.
"I'm not sure I could cope with more than once a month," Liam teased, a sparkle in his eyes. "I might drop dead from overexposure to beautifulness, you never know."
"I'll make sure I won't die.",Claire assured Liam. "I only kill people I don't like, and I think I might like you a little too much." Claire blushed as she complimented him.
"That's good. I happen to like you rather a lot too," Liam winked. "Also, my brothers would very definitely kill you in revenge for my murder if you let me die."
Claire opened her eyes in horror. "Maybe I should be more careful around your brothers now too. Open doors, push in your chair, be the perfect gentle-lady.",Claire teased. She really didn't know how to be the proper lady.
"I wouldn't take it that far," Liam laughed. "They'll think you're an android sent from another planet to streal brains. Actually, that's just Daisy, but if she makes the others suspicious of you, you'd better hope you have alien powers to protect you..."
"I'm hard at making girls like me. They actually tend to avoid me for some reason.",Claire said with a slightly hurt expression. It was obviously she had just opened up some emotions. She swallowed hard and looked up at Liam with a broken smile. "I think you're mum likes me though."
Liam shuffled towards her and gently placed an arm around her shoulders. "My mum loves you Claire," he reassured her. "And I know my other sisters will too."
"I hope so.",Claire said with a hopeful expression on her face. She heard a car screech and two violent beeps outside. "Clark's here.",she said embarrassedly. She remembers how he didn't finish driving school.
"Alright, let's get going," Liam said, leaping up. He wanted to make a good impression, and keeping Claire's brother waiting wasn't going to achieve that.
Claire got up and began to walk, hoping that Liam was close behind her. She passed Jean on the way out and said,"I'm gonna get going now. Thank you for dinner and everything.",she said politely.
"Bye mum!" Liam called as he pulled on his coat. "I'm just going somewhere with Claire, I'll be back later, ok?" He grabbed his keys and headed out the door.
Claire slid into the backseat behind Clark and left the door open so Liam could sit as well. "Hi, Clark. This is my boyfriend, Liam.",she blurted out. She was so excited and nervous to tell him at the same time.
Clark looked over at Liam and wrinkled his nose in distaste. He decided to not judge him yet and said,"Hello, Liam. It's a pleasure to meet you." Clark was definitely two if not three times the size of Claire. He had his hair done up with a quiff in the front and his blue, green eyes looked over at the new suspect of Claire's depression and insecurity.
"It's nice to meet you too sir," Liam said earnestly, keen to seem on his best behaviour. "Claire's told me a lot about you so it's good to finally be able to put a face to a name."
Claire placed a hand on Liam's and tried to let him know it was okay to breathe. Clark wasn't going to pulverize him just for getting in the back seat of his car.
"I've heard very little about you, but I suspect you'll be the perfect gentleman to my darling sister.",Clark said as he pulled out of his parking space. Claire rolled her eyes. He was always trying to scare any male interactions out of her life.
"Of course, I would never dream of hurting her," Liam told him, sending Claire a nervous smile. "Claire's very special to me. I wouldn't want to do anything to compromise that."
"I trust you, until you give me a reason not to.",Clark said as he continued to drive. It looked like he had a long day of work. His hair was messed up, buttons of his shirt were undone and his tie was crooked. "How was school?"
"It was good.",Claire said. She tried to think of something that he would like about Liam. "Liam helped me with my math homework today, and he's one of the best students in our class.",she said. She didn't even have to lie to impress her brother, Liam was perfect.
"But I'm not nearly as good as Claire in English. She's like a human dictionary. Although I'm sure you already know how brilliant she is," Liam said, not even having to make up any of the compliments he was giving Claire.
