"Inside my house."Leo chuckled, blushing a little bit more at her description of him. Cute, huh? Well, it could of been worse. "C'mon."
He hopped out of the car, leading her up to his house. Leo had a nice house, with a wraparound porch, a tire swing on the oak tree in the front, and some chalk printed on the concrete walkway. An inviting one, nevertheless.
"This is where I live."Leo explained, opening the door. It smelled of vanilla, with a great staircase leading down. It was pretty big, with a nice family room and a big kitchen."My little brother and sister might be-"
"LEEEEOOOO!"Came a chirpy voice, and a little girl came running down the stairs, with pigtails and a dress. Leo gave a slightly apologetic smile at Maddie before he lifted the girl in his arms.
"Maddie, this is Hannah. Hannah, say hi to Maddie."Hannah, upon seeing her, became very shy, and Leo let her down, where she scampered away.
"She's kind of shy, and my little brother is probably somewhere around here."He have a shrug and a grin."Family."
"Whoa..." Maddie looked around, wide-eyed with awe. "This is a where you live? It's so big!" She looked over at him, grinning, but a little confused.
"Brother? Sister? You have those? I always thought they would be fun to... What's this?" She pointed at a screen. A computer, maybe? But it was so big, and mounted on the wall, and where was the keyboard? There were only a few buttons on the side...
"And this?" she murmured, picking up a black rectangular box that had one side covered in buttons. She pushed the biggest one, the red one, and jumped as noise came from the screen on the wall. She stared, mesmorized, as tiny people interacted with eachother on the screen, and when she touched it, the people didn't seem to notice. "Hello? How are you all so small?"
How strange... Did Leo keep these tiny humans as pets or something? That had to be it. "Leo, where do you find these little people-pets? I've never seen these before..." She blushed slightly, realising she probably sounded stupid.
Leo didn't mind her being so amazed. It was actually kind of funny, especially when she discovered his big screen T.V. Admittingly, his house was pretty nice, ever since his dad got promoted. Sure, it meant he had to be home more to take care of Hannah and Seth, with Kyle and Isabelle in collage now, living their lives.
"You're weird." Came a voice from the kitchen. A boy was eating a string cheese behind the counter, looking at Maddie with a strange expression. "Have you never seen a T.V before, or a house?"
"Be quiet, Seth."Leo tossed over to his younger sibling, rolling his eyes. He walked over to Maddie."Don't mind him. It is a T.V. You can watch shows on it and stuff."
"Like My Little Pony!"Hannah chirped, smiling brightly as she jumped on the couch, with a bright smile.
"But your sure are pretty."Seth spoke from the kitchen again, and Leo sighed. His siblings...
"You two go. Go on, now."He insisted. Seth shrugged, and Hannah slightly frowned, before they both obeyed. They always listened to Leo.
"Sorry about them."Leo apologized.
Maddie blushed as she watched the girl and the boy leave, then looked at Leo. "W-weird? I'm weird? Sorry, I don't mean to be..."
But the boy also said 'pretty.' What did that mean? Probably something else along the lines of weird, right? She wouldn't be surprised...
Sighing, she sat on the sofa, fiddling with the hem of her shirt. Who was she kidding. She didn't belong out here, in the real world. Maybe she should've stayed in the labratory. Sure, it was painful, and scary, but at least she knew how things worked there. Understood things.
But Kiba... Kiba seemed to know more about the outside world than she did. Maybe Leo would rather be with Kiba...
That thought made her a little sad, but it was worth a shot. "Um, is there somewhere I can be all alone? Just for a minute..."
"No, no, no, you aren't weird."Leo reassured, sitting next to her. Da.mn it Seth...
"You just don't know how things work, and that's okay."Leo firmly reassured, patting her back gently. She looked so crestfallen, and was playing with the edge of her shirt. It was the first time he took in what she was wearing. Jeans, and simple non descript shoes...
"Alone?"He asked, frowning a little."Well...okay. The bathroom is down that hallways, first door to your right."
Leo was touching her again! Maddie turned a bright shade of red as she sheepishly smiled, opening her mouth slightly to say something, anything, but nothing came out. She felt like an idiot.
"Um, ah, thank you..." she stuttered as she stood up, unable to look at him. She found the hallway, and was pretty sure it was this door... Aha! Yes. She stepped inside and closed the door.
Taking a deep breath, she covered her right eye, hoping Leo would like Kiba much more. The pain of the changing process made her clutch onto the edge of the sink, gritting her teeth so she wouldn't make any noise.
Kiba on the other hand, wasn't afraid of a little noise. Or swearing... "Holy s.hit.... hurts every time," he muttered, probably a little too loudly, but he didn't care.
Where the h.ell am I? He opened the door and stepped into the hallway. Was he in someone's house? Oh good lord...
Leo waited patiently, before he heard a voice. A particularly loud voice...of a guy? Quickly, he got up, taking in the words.
"..hurts every time," Leo heard, and instantly, being the teenage boy he was, huis mind went to the worst possible case scenario ever. When a boy came out--looking srikingly like MAddie, except well, you know, a guy--he stopped cold.
"Where's Maddie?"He fiercly demanded, his mind spinning. What the he.ll? Where'd she go? who is this guy?
"Maddie?" Kiba stared at this weird guy, who must've owned the place, incredulous. "You met Maddie? She actually talked to somebody? D.amn, how long have I been out..."
He waved the guy's question away, walking past him nonchalantly. "Don't worry about Maddie, she's fine. Chillax." He eyed the flat-screen in the living room and gave a low whistle. "Nice place, man. What's your name, anyway?" he muttered, flopping onto the couch and crossing on leg over the other.
Leo was flustered, to say the least. The guy was completely calm, and incredlously, he checked the bathroom. There was no sign of her...How was that even possible?
"But, she couldn't have just dissapeared..."Leo muttered, before furrowing his brows at this guy's behavior."What's my name? Alright, I'l ltell you my name if you tell me where Maddie went."He stated, his expression no funny business. He walked over in front of the T.V, crossing his arms.
Kiba's lips twitched as he kept some comments to himself. He couldn't just flat-out tell the guy what was going on; he'd freak out and call people, probably the cops, and Kiba and Maddie would get sent back to that awful place.
"Fine. I don't need to know your name, anyway," he muttered, glaring at him. "Now move so I can watch TV. I haven't watched any shows or anything in too long." Too long being about a week... "Got anything to drink? Or sisters? Sisters would be nice."
Leo's eyes flamed, and he stood straight where he was.
"I'm his sister!" Ugh. Hannah couldn't of shown up at a worse time then this, in all her six year old glory. "My name is Hannah, and where did the pretty girl go?" She asked curiously, before ducking behind Leo's legs, shy and what not. It was impressive, for Hanah, to speak so much words to a stranger. She must of been very curious...
"Are you her brother or something?"Leo asked skeptically, before blinking."And why are you wearing the clothes she was wearing?" He picked Hannah protectively, where the little girl exaimined him curiously.
Oh, for crying out loud, was that the only sister he had? That wasn't even close to what Kiba was talking about. "I meant, like... older, more kissable sisters..? I mean, she's pretty cute, but I'd rather not get arrested for pedophilia and stuff..." He smirked, and shook his head.
"No, not her brother. Although I guess you could say we're... close." Close, indeed. "And these, good sir, are my clothes, thank you. Not fashionable enough for my taste, I admit, but they work for both of us."
Leo didn't like this guy. Not one bit. e was too comfident, and arrogant, and wasn't telling him where MAddie was...
"Don't call me good sir."Leo snapped, setting Hannah down. She still clung to his leg, catching on the tension in the room, even for a little girl."Get out of my house, whoever you are. Now."
Kiba studied him for a moment, looking him up and down like something he was about to buy. "Hmmm..." His brow furrowed as he came to a realisation.
"You like Maddie, don't you." It was more of a statement, than a question. "Do you realise that if you kick me out, you'll be kicking her out too? Just a little something to think about." He sighed, leaning back and looking up at the ceiling. "I wouldn't blame you, for liking her, really. Nice girl."
Despite himself, Leo turned a shade slightly darker than before. What? Wh-what? How could he like a girl he'd just met?! It was irrational, wasn't it? Completely. Irresponsible, even. Especially just after a year relationship...
"I like her, too, Leo."Hannah said softly, tugging on his leg. Leo sighed, gritting his teeth.
"Go downstairs with Seth, sweetie."He instructed, and Hannah did one more take of the strange new boy before running downstairs. Leo stared at him evenly, with his arrogant posture, and lazy green eyes. He snapped the T.V off.
"Who are you?" Leo demanded once again."And what do you mean, I'd be kicking her out too? You aren't the same person."At those words, a shiver went up his spine, though he didn't know why.
At least the little girl seemed to have some reason. Kiba flinched at his last sentence, and looked over at him. This guy had no idea... and it was p.issing Kiba off.
"Kiba. I'm Kiba. Happy?" He gritted his teeth; his lack of energy was making him irritable. "And I can't tell you why, okay? I can't. It would be a stupid thing for me to do, especially after what Maddie's been through. I'm not going to give her away like that."
Kiba? Hm. An odd name, like a dog. Obviously, they were both upset, but at he mention of Maddie...
"It would?"Leo straightened up considerably, before sighing and rubbing his head. This...this was just too much. Too weird and not...normal. Not normal at all.
"Leeeeoooo I'm hooooome!" Came a ringing voice from the front door. Leo suppressed a groan, especially when he heard his siblings excited squeals.
"Perstefonek!"Came Hannah's giggle. She always tumbled over Persephone's name.
"Just Seph, darling, just Seph."Seph reassured, walking in with Hannah in her arms. She paused, upon seeing Kiba. She raised a brow, before Hannah whispered not so quietly in her ear.
"That guy is funny."Hannah explained, and slowly, Seph let her down, where Hannah once again vanished. All Leo could think of was how lucky he was that Seth was addicted to video games.
"A new friend, Lee?" Seph asked curiously, wiggling her brows. Leo couldn't believe her; flirting with a jerk already. She placed her key--yeah, she had a key, and same with Leo to her place--on the counter and hopped on a bar stool."What's your name?"
Instantly Kiba straightened as he looked at Seph. She looked like... a model, or something. Why did he feel so nervous all of a sudden? Usually he was so confident around girls, but now...
He gave a half-smile and nodded at her, everything else in the room seeming to vanish. "Hey. I'm Kiba. You?" D.amn, she was hot... Gorgeous. Definitely a model. She had to be, right?
"Per-Seph-Oh-Nee." Persephone replied, smiling slyly. Since when did Leo make hot friends?"It's Greek. Ironically, I am not, and I go by Seph. On my good days."She explained, her smile becoming more flirty.
"Stop. Stop it both of you."Leo snapped irritatably. He stood up, and Seph raised a brow. Why was he so cranky?"You don't want to waste your time on him, Persephone."Oh man, he only called her by her full name when serious. It made her stand up and gaze at Kiba with distrust.
"And why is that, Kiba? Leo doesn't hate people for no reason."She mused out loud, raising a brow."What did ya do, cutie?"
Kiba shot up, glaring menacingly at Leo. "I didn't do anything! It's this moron that shouldn't be trusted! What was Maddie even doing over here, anyway, huh? You can't just take some poor girl, who has no idea how this world works, over to your house and expect everything to be fine! What did you do?"
Something inside was screaming at him to stop, that Leo was really a good guy, but he shoved those feelings aside. "How do I know you didn't hurt her, huh? Or were planning to, anyway. She's... you can't..." Frustrated, he ran a hand through his hair. "She's me, okay?" he breathed.
