[ Nah, it's fine! :) I usually take longer, so I thank you for your patience with that ^.^ ]
Seph was about to answer before a girl--dressed in oddly boy clothes--came up to them, exceptionally nervous. She raised an eyebrow, suddenly more interested in her. Was she new? Where was she from? Who was she?
"Yes?" Leo replied, being the more direct one, and not distracted by his questions. Persephone smiled brightly in the girl's direction.
[It's no problem, really, to wait. :D I just wish we were on more at the same time, y'know? ]
Maddie swallowed hard as she stared at the boy, opening her mouth to respond. But no words came. Say something! You can't keep him waiting!
She was extremely confused at the girl's smile; had she done something right? Was saying 'excuse me' a good thing? Her eyes wandered, flickering quickly around to look at anything but the couple. But she forced herself to focus on them, though it was hard to look them in the eye.
"I... need help..." she finally managed. "Help me..?"
[ I know I'm just so busy :c ]
"Are you foreign or something?" Seph asked, obviously confused. It would explain her stuttering and weird clothes. Leo elbowed her, giving her an annoyed look. "What?" She asked dubiously. Leo always said she had no filter, whatever that meant.
"Nevermind her."Leo reassured with a comforting smile. She really did look lost..."I'm Leo and--"
"I'm Persophone, but you can call me Seph."She stated with another smile, interrupting Leo. The ball rang again, and she was off, leaving Leo with the girl. He gave her an apologetic look.
"Sorry about that." He said with a little laugh."She's kind of a hand full. Do you have your schedule with you?" She looked completely out of her wits.
[Aw, it's okay :) ]
"F-foreign?" Maddie repeated quietly, watching the strange 'Seph' girl leave. Were most girls like her? She looked back at Leo, blushing.
Should she tell him her name? Could she trust him? "I'm... Maddie. My name is Maddie." She nodded slightly; she probably sounded like an idiot.
"Um, what schedule? What exactly is going on? Are there always this many people inside these schools? Are the Doctors here? Why is--" she cut herself off suddenly, realising she was probably asking too many questions, and blushed even darker.
Leave it to confident, loud Seph to freak the girl out. She looked very cute when blushing, and Leo gave a little half smile to her, though quirked an eyebrow up in slight confusion. Doctors? What did she mean? Was she like an amnesiac or something? But how would she get her?
"Uh...do you have a last name?"Leo asked curiously, tilting his head. Maddie was her name. Nice name...
Maddie bit her lip hard, looking down at the ground as she tried not to blush any more than she already was. "L-last name..?" she murmured, glancing up at him shyly, clasping her hands behind her back. "I, um, I don't know... I don't think so."
Leo, Leo, Leo, Leo... She had to commit this name to memory. Leo. She hadn't heard another name that sounded like that one. For some reason, Maddie had the strange urge to hug this boy. Was she supposed to? But she stayed where she was, not wanting to get in trouble.
Hm. Even stranger. A girl with no last name? She really did look lost...and scared. But why would she be scared? Leo gave her a nice smile, offering his arm.
"Here. We can go to the office. Maybe they know where you belong." A strange feeling was in his stomach at the words. Suddenly, going to the office didn't seem to smart...Maybe he should just ask her more questions instead. Yeah, thats what he'd do. More questions with Maddie.
Maddie smiled sheepishly back at him, and was about to take his arm, till his last sentence. Where she belonged. She already knew where she belonged.
"They... They know where I belong?" She said, beginning to step away from him. "They know about me? About that place?" Horror washed over her face, and she glanced up and down the hallway before looking back at Leo. "No, please, you can't take me there," she pleaded softly. "Please don't make me go back. Please..."
[Just bumping it for you ^-^ ]
[ Thank you! :) I apologize, I've just been so busy! ]
Leo blinked, taken aback by her reaction. His first guess was that she was mentally unstable. Back...where? It worried him a lot, but for some reason, the office didn't seem like a good idea...
"I won't take you back."He reassured, shaking his head. It was like talking to a wounded animal."I promise, okay?"
[No, no, it's fine! Schoolwork and stuff isn't fun, haha ]
"You... you won't?" Maddie still wasn't sure, and it showed in her worried expression. But he seemed... trustworthy, somehow. But surely he didn't actually care, right? Maybe he was just lying. Yeah, that had to be it. The doctors did that sometimes. Maybe he was helping them.
But maybe not. "You promise?" she said, staring at him intently. "Please, please don't be lying. I... I have to get out of here. They can't know I'm here. Please help me?"
"I promise. Leo replied, nodding. She really was terrified, wasn't she? It concerned Leo greatly, and he just wanted her to not be scared.
"Trust me. I'm have the rest of the day off, okay? You can come to my house." which migh of been tricky, but both of his older siblings were in collage, and younger ones would still be in school.
His house? Leo's house? For some reason that made Maddie blush, but why? It was just a house, right? She glanced up at him, but when her eye met his, she quickly turned her gaze elsewhere.
"Ah, you... you have a house? I've never been inside one before, an actual house..." she admitted softly. "Do the doctors know where you live? Will they find me? They... I don't want to get hurt again."
A girl who's never been in a...house? What the...? Leo tried not to be flustered more as she spoke more words. About doctors, and gettin hurt and such...She was so earnest, Maddie was. He wanted to reach out a protect her from everything, no matter how irrational the desire was. It must of been her eyes; they were a lovely shade of blue.(Right, blue, or green? Sorry :s)
"Yes, I have a house."Leo nodded, beginning to lead her down the hallways of the school."And no, I'm pretty sure the doctors don't know where I love. Or at least, they don't have a reason to come to my house."Leo had a hunch the doctors he knew and the doctors Maddie knew were very different.
[Huh... to be honest, I can't remember XD I think it's blue, though, yeah ]
Maddie nodded, quickly following Leo to what she hoped was out of this strange school. She didn't like it here. There were too many people locked up in one building, trained to move from one room to another at the sound of a bell. The resemblance of all this with the labratory was just too much.
"Okay, if you're sure." Without thinking, she reached up and felt his hair curiously. Soft. "I like your..." She trailed off, blushing. Really, she liked a lot about him. But she probably wasn't supposed to say that. She might get in trouble.
Whoa. Now she was touching his hair. Odd. He couldn't help but to chuckle, though, at her awe. Sure, she was a little weird...and socially awkward, but it was cute. Very cute.
"Ah, thank you."Leo replied with a smile as they walked out into the parking lot. Thank goodness he found her. Others would of just put her to the office..."My car is right here."He explained as they stopped at a blue Jeep Cherokee. He dug for his keys and unlocked it.
[Okay, whew! I always feel bad when I forget things about characters. :s ]
Maddie stared at the giant blue thing with wheels. A breeze shifted her bangs over her worried eyes, and she chewed absently on her thumbnail. "U-um, what's this? Is it... Will it..."
Suddenly her eyes widened as she stared at Leo accusingly. "This is a... You are working for them! This is an experiment, isn't it! I thought... I thought I could trust you, at least a little..." Her voice was as pained as her expression as she began to back away. That blue thing was some kind of scary machine, she was sure of it. How could Leo betray her like this?
[No, it's fine! Haha, I do that all the time... unfortunately. My memory is awful ]
Again, the Maddie took Leo by surprise, looking very betrayed and hurt. He blinked in confusion as she began to speak nonsense, and back away from him.
"What are you talking about?"He asked, confused."It's just my car...?" Leo went to open the door on the driver's side, looking at her with a worried expression. She had never seen a car...? Seriously weird."I mean, I guess we could walk..." Even though that would be ridiculous...
[ No worries, all is good :) ]
"C-car?" Car. Maybe that was the name of the experiment. Car. It even sounded mean. Maddie flinched when he opened the thingy, which was apparently some kind of container for her to go inside of.
She stared at it for a moment. If he touched it himself, maybe she could touch it too... "But... it'll hurt me... won't it? I... I can't get hurt again. Not again."
Sheesh, she was scared of everything, wasn't she? Still, it was very hard to be frustrated with Maddie, Leo was discovering, for the look on her face...
"It won't hurt you." Leo assured softly, getting in and sitting down behind the wheel with a gentle smile."See?" He called out, giving a little wave. He'd start it once she got inside. With a warning.
