((Sorry, I've still got some summer homework to do. I need to finish my current assignment or else I won't get to go to the fair with my boyfriend next Tuesday. I'll probably be able to get on later tonight.))

(That's fine. I have to go for a bit too. Plus, I think we need to pause for a little while so the other characters don't get left behind.)

If there was anything that Tristan hated more than hallways, it was fights. He could see everysingle move that could be played out-- see how to react to it. When Ambi's wings shot out, It was too much chaos for him to handle. Even with Mozart cushioning the noise.

Tripping and stumbling as discreetly as he could, Tristan made it out of the classroom, shuddering from all the noise, the activity. Blessed quiet. The hallway, halfway through class time was blissfully quite and deserted.

Tristan leaned his forhead against the wall, cool compared to his hot forehead. Think calming thoughts. A triangle with a side length of nine and an angle of 38 degrees would have another side of 5.5 units....

Solving the triangles in his head along with Mozart and inactivity of the hall helped calm him down. I've gone through fights and classes before. Why is this bothering me so much today?

Fleck

Still glaring at Ambi and Peter, Fleck pulled a lighter as well as Peter's phone number out of her purse. She produced a small flame from the lighter and proceeded to burn Peter's number. Maybe he would have had a slight chance of Fleck calling him. If he wasn't friends with that winged girl.

"Mr. Goforth," Fleck said as sweetly as she could manage, "I'll be taking the pass." She swiftly grabbed the hall pass from Mr. Goforth's desk before storming out the door. She almost didn't notice the boy from class leaning his head against a wall in the hallway.

"Are you alright?" Fleck asked, careful not to get too close to him. "You were kinda twitchy in there."

Alex

Smiling broadly, Alex sauntered over to where Ambi was sitting.

"Well, well, well," he said, a slight twinkle in his eye. "I didn't know Heaven lost an angel."

"That's corny," she replied without turning her head in his direction. She saw the look on Peter's face. "What's wrong, Pete?"

Sterling shook his head; side to side while frowning. Already this was turning out to be a crazy day; he thought about saying something but kept his mouth shut as he awkwardly still stood by the door. Sterling wanted to say something before but why hadn't he? Normally he would take in charge but some reason; he didn't.

(( Sorry I wasn't on before; should I make Sterling just take his seat? ))

Tristan was enjoying the quiet and the uniform stillness of the hallway when that black haired girl from before stepped into the hallway (causing him to jump yet again), several versions of her peeling off and going in different directions.

Now, Tristan didn't necsesarily not like people. There were people that he greatly admired, like Dr. Banner. And he didn't mind Peter Parker at all, neither. It was just talking and conversations that unnerved him. Never had he come across the same person several times in a row. Neither had he have them talk to him twice.

Needless to say, it was novel, and not altogether welcome, as he was enjoying himself as is. He turned his head sideways a bit to look at her through his glasses. "Yes, I-I'm fine. Neurological disorder." he mumbled something about his neocortex then trailed off uncertainly, shoulders hunched a little protectively, extremely socially awkward.

"That's got to do with the brain, right?" Being raised in a circus, Fleck didn't receive much advanced education. She watched him, her eyes cold and demeaning. This kid was a mess. His shoulders were hunched like he was half-expecting Fleck to attack. *Great* Fleck thought bitterly, *You've managed to find an actual weirdo in a school of freaks. Congratulations.*

Tristan looked at the girl out of the corners of his eyes again, trying to calculate if she really was talking to him. There was a distinct possibility that she wasn't.

"Yes," he said catiously, albeit slightly amused, "It was on the test. 'Name the relay area of the brain that is responsible for many mental mutations'. Number 17, multiple choice.

There was still a part of him that wasn't quite convinced that he was talking to an actual person. But if it was, then he would appear rude an inconsiderate by not responding. Tristan was used to being though strange-- he could see that the girl thought it too, though why she continued the conversation was beyond him.

But there was no excuse for impoliteness. So at least if he was talking to the wall, he was doing it softly and politely. He never raised his voice; not ever. Curiosity got better of him, and he momentarily abandoned his usual conversation tactics.

"I have to ask with the risk of sounding rude; why are you talking to me? There's only a one-in-ten possibility that you would, and I'm not even convinced that you are. If you had perhaps looked at Peter a little while longer while you burned his number, or argued with Alex for a little while more, than your limbic sytem would be too preocuppied to think of walking out the door, so instead you would teleport to wherever it is where you were headed, then you wouldn't be talking to me at all." he said very quickly.

Tristan had never seen any of these events occur, but they just there. The ultimate cause-and-effect machine. Tristan was mortified at the sudden onslaught of words. It was difficult to not talk about a possible scenario, as if the brain wanted to reject the material that it had never registered before.

((Bekah: Ambi and Alex are still in the room with the rest of the class. Fleck and Tristan are talking in the hallway.))

Fleck stared at Tristan, backing away slowly. What did he just say??

"Umm, what?" she asked, not sure how to assess the situation. Maybe her people skills WERE a little lacking, but she knew how to be nice. Sort of. "If you don't want me to be nice to you, just say so." Fleck put her hands in her hips, raising an eyebrow.

*****************
Alex stared at Ambi, completely dumbstruck. But he quickly shook his head, once again smiling at Ambi.

"I'll make sure to call you later. Maybe then you can tell me about what other powers you've got."

((Thanks Amanda! (Amanda's your name, right? ))

Henry wasn't exactly sure what was going on in his classroom at the moment. One minute, everyone was behaving perfectly, the next, there was a 'cat-fight' going on in the middle of the room, and after that, Tristan and Fleck both left. Now peace was back.

Mr. Goforth decided that a little bit of action was needed.

"Ambi", he said, "I'm putting you in charge of the class for five minutes. I'll be right back. See that everyone behaves." He winked.

Leaving the classroom, he found Fleck and Tristan in the hall.

"Fleck," he said quietly, "may I talk to you for a second?"

((Yep, that's my name :) ))

Fleck spun around as Mr. Goforth addressed her. She thought quickly, trying to figure out if she'd done anything wrong. So far, she couldn't think of anything.

"Umm, yes?" Fleck asked, tightly clutching her bag strap. "Is there a problem, Mr. Goforth? I did ask for the pass. See?" Fleck searched through her bag until she finally pulled out the hall pass.

"Oh, the pass was fine!" Henry smiled reassuringly. "I was wanting to ask the cause of the ruckus a minute ago in the classroom. It didn't look like you were being very kind to Ambi... don't worry, I'll talk to her to. It could be her fault just as much as yours."

Henry sighed, rubbing his fingers through his hair.

"Why can't you get along with very many people, Fleck? Do you even try?"

"I try!" Fleck said defensively. "It's just...you don't get much practice talking to people when you live in a freak show." She crossed her arms, keeping her gaze on the ground. It seemed that no one knew how hard it was to grow up in a circus freak show.

"I understand, Fleck," Henry said, quietly. "Almost all of the kids here have had hard or disturbed lives. And not all of them are good at socializing. But you have to understand that everyone here is a mutant too. They know what it's like. And most of the time, none of them are out to harm or offend you. Ambi? She's a nice kid. Try making friends with her. Please? Or find someone else. Just make a friend." He nodded at her, to let her know she was free to go. Henry smiled, and went back into the classroom.
