Arabesque

Arabesque nodded grimly. “Sorry it hurts so much.” she put in, noticing his paling complexion. “The worst of it’s almost over.”

Then, he grabbed her arm suddenly. "Maybe…Maybe you should... bandage my side too..." He sounded so pained—it was awful.

“I can do that.” she replied after a moment, trying to keep her voice even. “No problem.”

Advena

Advena thought for a moment. She had a knife, but that certainly wasn’t something to show him. And she had some poison, but then again, not a very good idea. Out of all the things she packed, it never occurred to her to take something that could be used for betting…

Then, she remembered. The zonens! Earth didn’t have those, did they? She was pretty sure not. And luckily, she still had some leftover.

Reaching down into a small pocket on the side of her bodysuit, she pulled out six bright orange berries and placed them on the table proudly. “I have these.” she answered with a grin.

-Sven-

Sven cradled his side with his hand for a moment, releasing his tight grip on Arabesque's arm. Hopefully he didn't give her a bruise. He carefully layed himself down on the ground, breathing hard.

What had he done this time that made it so painful? None of his 'artwork' had ever been like this. Usually he enjoyed the pain, but this time it seemed almost too much for him.

He heard a voice say, "I love you, Princess," and it took him a minute before he realised he was the one who spoke.

-Luka-

"Warren? What the heck are those?" Luka glanced at Lt. Monn, then back at the little berry-like things.

Monn shrugged. "No idea." He reached out his hand, cautious, and poked one of them. He waited a few minutes before looking up at Luka briefly. "Well, I haven't died yet, so..."

Luka rolled his eyes. "Well it's not like you ate them or anything." He turned to Advena, scowling. "What are those? Are they poisonous?" He pointed roughly at the whatchmacallits.

Arabesque

Arabesque gulped and pulled Sven’s shirt up carefully, slightly afraid of what she would find.

It was worse than she expected.

In fact, it was so bad that she almost didn’t hear what he was saying—almost. And when she did, Arabesque was left speechless.

“I…” she trailed quietly “I love you too.”

Her words surprised her. Where had those come from?? Yet, she knew them to be true. Knew them with a certainty that could not be argued. She loved Sven, and that was the truth.

((I have to go for a bit. I will post for Advena soon.))

((Thanks! ^.^))

Advena

Advena frowned slightly, thinking Luka’s question over. “Well, they aren’t poison to me.” she replied, popping one into her mouth to prove it to him. “But they might be for you…I don’t really know…”

She shifted nervously in her seat. Should she not have showed them to him? Was he going to get mad at her? She had certainly heard some horror stories about humans in her days, and definitely did not want to live through one of those.

“They are only berries though…” she trailed “Honest.”

[No problem! :D ]

-Sven-

"You..." Sven winced. "You love me..." With a slight smile, he closed his eyes. She loved him! What could be better than that?

He knew she was probably uncomfortable staring at the deep gashes under his shirt, but he didn't know how to help with that. Instead he began to sing softly under his breath.

"Surrounded by crimson flowers, she smiles/ The king is defeated, his royal subject scattered/ No longer pretending to be good/Violence is her forte/And now everybody knows the truth/A couple pointless rules/Cannot keep this monster containedWhile the surviving subjects run/They spread the word of/The secret of Madame M..."

-Luka-

Luka stared at Advena suspiciously. "I see." He turned to Monn, with the same look in his eyes. "Warren, will you be alright if I leave? I'll only be a moment."

Monn nodded. "We'll be fine. Poker can take a while to play, anyway." He winked at Advena, reshuffling the cards unnessecarily. "Go have your coffee, Luka. Don't wanna strain yourself." He chuckled and began dealing out the cards. Then he dug around in his pockets till he found a handful of coins, and slapped them on the table. "Those will be for my betting, then."

Arabesque

Arabesque didn’t really know where to begin with the wound on Sven’s side. It was so deep, and therefore left venerable to infection. But cleaning it would cause unbearable pain—even for someone as seasoned as him.

As she was trying to figure this out, strangely enough, he began singing. "Surrounded by crimson flowers, she smiles/ The king is defeated, his royal subject scattered/ No longer pretending to be good/Violence is her forte/And now everybody knows the truth/A couple pointless rules/Cannot keep this monster contained/ While the surviving subjects run/They spread the word of/The secret of Madame M..."

It was really quite beautiful. Arabesque found herself almost becoming completely lost in the words. Yet, there were more important things to worry about.

“Sorry.” she muttered, plunging the rag into his side “I will try to make this fast.”

((Out of simple curiosity, what was that song? I tried to look it up but couldn’t find it—and it sounds like something I would really like. ^.^))

Advena

Advena smiled excitedly, watching Monn shuffle the cards once more. Luka left to go get some coffee. That, she had heard of. It was this dark brown beverage made from beans—commonly used to energize humans. She had always found it weird, buy hey, everyone had their own tastes.

“Is that the game?” she asked curiously “Making the ‘cards’ dance like that?”

[Haha Actually, I wrote that song, that's why you can't find it. XD I could give you the rest of the lyrics if you want. Glad someone likes it! ]

-Sven-

"Take as much time --" he gasped her -- "time as you need. I brought this upon myself."

Usually he enjoyed the sting of the alcohol. But this... This was unbearable. He wanted so badly to jerk away and have Arabesque put the cleaner away. But he layed there, clenching his fists and breathing hard, wondering if H.ell burned like this.

He whispered the same lyrics again frantically, wishing they would cover up the fire.

-Luka-

Monn laughed and shook his head. "No, I'm mixing them up. Poker is a game of chance." He passed out some cards for both of them, and set the rest of the deck near his elbow. "Now, antey up."

"Ow!" Luka frantically brushed at the burning water on his shirt. He muttered a curse under his breath. With a sigh, he poured some more water into the kettle and set it on the already heated stove top.

He felt a little nervous. What if leaving Advena and Warren alone had been a bad idea? What if they were in a fight right now, while he was just leisurely getting some coffee?

The water heated quickly, and he poured some into a cup and mixed some black powder in it with a spoon. He took a sip, indulging in the bitterness.

Warren was going to have to fight by himself for a while.

((You wrote it? :O That’s awesome! :D I would love to read the rest :) If you have time to post it, that is.))

Arabesque

Arabesque worked quickly, clenching her teeth down on her lip the whole time. She hated hurting Sven like that. But it was better than letting infection get to him—stuff like that could be deadly.

“Finished.” she announced under her breath, pulling the bloody rag away and beginning to wrap the bandages. “You might end up needing me to show you shut…..but for now, we can just see how things go.”

She lifted his back off the ground gently to get the cloth all the way around. “Anyways, you should rest. No physical strain unless absolutely necessary.”

Advena

Advena copied Monn’s movements, picking up her own stack of cards and eyeing them carefully. Of course, none of the symbols meant anything to her. But she pretended to understand nonetheless.

“Hmm…” she muttered, hoping to add dramatic flair.

"Now, antey up." he announced.

At this, she frowned.

Antey…antey…..an—ants! Those are insects!...Wait…..that doesn’t make sense…

((Hehe, Luka makes me laugh. xD))

[It's no problem. I'll post it for you as soon as I can :D ]

-Sven-

Thank the Lord she wasn't going to stitch him up. He found the practice made him feel sick, and it was weird anyway; sewing was for clothes, not people.

He sat up for her so she could finish wrapping. He'd made it. He didn't die, or black out, he had done well. "Thank you, Princess," he murmered, touching her arm. "If it weren't for you, I'd be gone long before this."

-Luka-

Even though he wanted to simply take his time and sip his coffee to make the flavor last, Luka ended up chugging it all down in less than a minute. With a sigh, set the cup on the counter to wash later. Hopefully someone else would find it and wash it for him.

Monn looked at Advena over his cards, brow raised. Did she really know what she was doing? She seemed confident enough; maybe she used her Alien powers to figure out how to play.

[XD As does Advena ]

Arabesque

Arabesque smirked bitterly. “Don’t be so quick to say such things.” she muttered, almost to herself.

Quickly, she turned away from him and began cleaning up. Alcohol back on the shelf, gauze in the drawer, and the rag…well she would have to wash that later.

“Have you finished breaking camp yet?” she asked over her shoulder “Or shall I help you?”

Advena

Advena struggled to raise on brow in return. But she only ended up looking ridiculous.

“Uhmmm…” she muttered. “Maybe you should ‘antey’ first. That way I can uh…react properly.”

[I don't know what breaking camp is... XD ]

-Sven-

Sven rubbed his arm as he sat there, not really knowing what to do next.

He heard her murmering to herself, and smirked. "But it's true," he said softly, frowning slightly at his hands. He was a mess.

He looked up at her next comment. "What am I breaking?" he asked, confused.

-Luka-

"Kay, I'm back. Everyone's still alive, right?" Luka sighed nonchalantly as he waked back into the room. He glanced at Warren, then Advena. He snickered at her expression.

Monn nodded, and tossed a coin into the middle of the table. Was she still confident, or was she bluffing? He couldn't tell. He looked at her expectantly. "Your turn."

((Oh haha whoops. xD Arabesque meant it in the sense of taking down the tents, packing up, etc.))

Arabesque

Arabesque shook her head and laughed lightly. “Oh forget it. Let someone else take care of it.” she teased, wiping her hands off on her dress absentmindedly.

Her stomach growled angrily—was it lunch time already? Time seemed to have slipped her brain.

“Are you hungry? I think I’m going to make myself something, and you can come along if you wish.” She tossed him a wink. “But if I cook, then you have to clean.”

Advena

Advena looked up briefly at Luka. She shifted to sit on her knees, bring herself more to eye-level with the humans.

Monn put a coin in the center of the table and looked to her expectantly. That wasn’t so hard! And she could beat him too—she had five berries.

Confidently, Advena rolled them one-by-one into place. Ha!

[Oh. Haha I feel somewhat dumb now ]

-Sven-

"Cleaning?" Sven pouted like a child. "But cleaning's so boooooring..." he whined.

But he was starving. He glanced up at Arabesque with a small sigh, then winced; his side was killing him. Semi-literally.

He gently stole one of her soft hands and began playing with her fingers. After studying them for a minute, he looked back up at her with a sad, serious look. "You wouldn't make me do it, would you, Princess?" he whispered.

Of course he was joking, but he was still a bit curious about her answer.

-Luka-

Monn cleared his throat softly, eyeing Advena with a smirk. "I thought you knew how to 'react properly'?"

So she was bluffing; she had no idea what she was doing. Lt. Monn smiled wider, and started rolling four of the strange berry-things back toward her.

"It's just and antey; you only put one. When we start betting, that's when you can put in more." He and Luka began to laugh. She was just like a kid.

Arabesque

Arabesque half melted—half rolled her eyes. “Sven, Sven, Sven.” she clucked “I most certainly would make you.”

She grabbed his hand and tugged him outside after her. “But you would probably do a terrible job.” she teased “So I would have to go back and do it all again after you.”

Tossing him a wink, she sprinted ahead gleefully. Springing off from the ground, she leapt backwards in the air, landing in the flip. It would have been much better on a trapeze, but Arabesque still found it quite fun.

“What do you want to eat?” she called back in question.

Advena

Advena pouted slightly and pulled her berries back.

“But whyy?” she complained “How am I supposed to beat you now.”

She pointed to the four remaining orange spheres. “I have more, see. What do cards have to do with it?”

Turning around in her chair, she gave Luka a questioning look. “Is he tricking me? I think he’s mad because I beat him.”

-Sven-

"Terrible?" he repeated with mock insult. "I'm not that useless, am I?"

But he already knew the answer to that. Besides his magic shows during performances, yes, he was basically useless. He was fine with that, though.

He watched her sprint and flip; ah, she was perfect. If only she shared his feelings... But he doubted that would ever happen, and he sighed.

"I want..." He thought for a brief moment. "Muffins, I think. Yes, that will do."

-Luka-

Lt. Monn shrugged. "That's just the rules, Missy. The antey just shows who is going to play in this specific round. Like... paying for tickets in advance before going to a concert or something."

Luka almost died laughing at her last statement. She sounded like a child! A defiant little child who desperately wanted to win. After eventually quieting his laughter, he wiped a small tear from his eye. "No, he's not mad. That's how you play." He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "Sorry."
