tiptoeing around the house like a ghost
slamming doors, hateful words, no love
picture frames hold the hopeful memories
smiling faces, blue skies, all turn to grey.

she wakes up to hear them screaming again
she walks down the stairs, feeling the tension
daddy's in mommy's face, mommy is screaming
she slowly climbs back up the staircase, braking.

holding back tears like it is a choice
closed doors, broken frames, no hope
glass broken on the floor is all thats left
brief kisses, enlaced hands, all go away.

she walks out the door to go to school again
she wants them to love again just like before
daddy got his suitcase, mommy"s in the doorway
she closes her eyes flashbacks to better times.

daddys gone, he is in the hotel across town
mommys broken, she is leaning over the sink
what to do? a little girl sits on the porch crying
bills seem like a stupid reason for daddy leaving
she cant understand how love can just waste away
her long blonde hair blowing in the texas wind
she cant help hoping that mabey love could mend
she blames herself for her parents fallout now
a little girl bearing the burden of parents sins
she just wants daddy to come back home again
she wants him to come pick up all the pieces
she looks down at the red paper heart in her hand
she reaches out and lets it blow away in the wind.
