I don’t have a problem with b.irth c.ontrol as long as it has nothing to do with murdering an already established and growing fetus. On top of that, I think it’s ridiculous in these cases where women feel like they’re entitled to the stuff, and that it should be part of insurance and it should be part of the welfare system and all like pregnancy is some kind of a disease or something. Pregnancy and the life that it fosters is a beautiful thing.

I vehemently disagree with you, Caesar123. No, pregnancy is not a "disease". But women have the right to control our own bodies. This is a right that men take for granted, but that women do not necesarily have fulfilled. And how else can this right be upheld if not by making bir.th contr.ol a part of of the insurance system?

^ says a guy. a woman's body is her body, and she should be able to decide when she gets pregnant — and should be able to prevent a pregnancy especially if she's not in the right place in her life to have a baby. it's not always a suitable situation to bring a baby into. the fact that women's products in general (tamp.ons, pads, bir.th con.trol, etc.) are so expensive BECAUSE they aren't seen as necessities just goes to show how male-dominated our society really is.

And just as a side note, b.irth contr.ol isnt always used to prevent pre.gnancy — it's also used to help control periods, among other things, like combatting acne.

On Jade's last point, the pi.ll is a recommended treatment for polycystic ovarian syndrome. This condition can cause a lot of hormonal problems that the pi.ll can really help with. There are also lots of people out there who experience crippling pain or really heavy flow during their periods, which is another great use for the pi.ll. My friend is on it because of really bad acne (which Jade also mentioned).

In addition to this, I'm not sure what it's like where you're all at, but here, I've seen numerous places to get free condoms. I understand that STI prevention is important and I'm all for this being a thing. But keep in mind that people with pen.ises do not HAVE to have se.x. I get that most of them will anyway, but my point is here, it's a choice. Whereas I've never seen anywhere I can get free pads or tampons for periods, which I have no choice about.

There are also people out there who take the pi.ll because they are terrified that one day they will be ra.ped and people will shame them for not wanting to carry a ra.pe child to term.

So, even if you're against it because you think women aren't entitled to have control over their own se.xual behaviours, then maybe some of these reasons might be enough.

Sure BrightBurning, women can control their own bodies. I just don’t want them deciding whether it’s alright or not to m.urder another human being already growing inside of them. If the b.irth c.ontrol is preventative and works before c.onception, then great. However, it is that woman’s choice (most of the time) whether or not to have s.ex, and thus she should not be surprised if somehow she gets p.regnant, and thus should not be allowed to m.urder her unborn child.

My only other qualm is that someone else shouldn’t have to pay because you want to go have s.ex, and need b.irth c.ontrol to do it.

Okay. It's almost not worth responding.

But.

A woman does not "get" pre.gnant. As far as I know — and correct me if I'm wrong — it takes a woman AND A MAN to create a baby. WOMEN as a group are not going out willy nilly to "have se.x" and to he.ll with the consequences. The desire for bir.th contro.l is a step towards RESPONSIBLE s.ex that, let's be real here, is going to happen regardless. There's no real reason not to have preventive methods that are only going to benefit the woman and the unborn child.

And also, I think you're confusing b.irth contro.l and ab.ortion.

Yes, women do, “get” p.regnant. That word, “get”, does not purport the idea that p.regnancy is something that just “happens”. Of course men are involved. Of course you need their s.perm for p.regnancy. Where did I say that you don’t?

Of course women as a group aren’t out there s.leeping around, just as all men as a group aren’t s.leeping around. That’s a preposterous idea. However there are numerous individuals that are just s.leeping around, and many of them could care less about the consequences because they know that they can pop a m.orning a.fter p.ill or if need be have an a.bortion.

I never said, and will never say that I am against responsible s.ex. I am all for it. I just don’t think that it’s fair for someone to k.ill their child because of their mistake. Preventive c.ontraception, i.e. anything that stops the s.perm actually f.ertilizing the e.gg, makes sense. However, once that s.perm meets that e.gg, life has begun and it is criminal to try and end it.

Lastly I am not confusing b.irth c.ontrol and a.bortion. In some cases they are nearly one in the same. The problem is that the government now defines c.onception as the implantation of the f.ertilized e.gg to the u.terine wall, and not solely the meeting of s.perm and e.gg. Some specific types of b.irth c.ontrol prevent this implantation, and thus in the government’s eyes, there is no c.onception, leading to these methods being marked as “preventative”. It’s a sham and a disgraceful one at that. Don’t believe me? Check out the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on the Hobby Lobby case. I think you’ll be interested to see the details.

I posted this for b.irth con.trol and ab.ortions.
My only point is that babies are difficult. They require care and a lot of money.
A woman can get an a.bortion. Who is going to pay for this child? I'm 99.99% that you won't. I'm also sure that every person against it won't pay either.
Finacial responsibiltly isn't the only reson people get ab.ortions, there are many other things people would like to do, but with a child they can't accomplish all of their goals.

A woman has a right to prevent or stop the possiblity of a child. Having an abo.rtion is not something people take lightly. If they have an ab.ortion they have obviously thought about what a child would mean in their lives

Honest to God Jackie, I’ll pay for the kid if it means that we don’t hack it to pieces. Obviously I’m still a minor and not a taxpayer, so it’s impractical to ask me to do so, but God willing if I could I would.

Also, I’m not saying a.bortion is a flippant thing. For some maybe, but not for all. The problem is that many women who get a.bortions don’t realize the consequences of their actions until it is staring them right in the face (i.e. p.regnancy). That is what we should be trying to avoid. We shouldn’t say that you might get p.regnant, but if you do don’t worry, we’ll kill the baby. The message should be that if you make this decision to have s.ex there is a possibility (and maybe a very good possibility) that you will get p.regnant and thus be a mother.

Jade: Yes, a woman should be able to decide when she gets preg.nant, and as far as I'm aware it takes a man and a woman (or a man's spe.rm and a woman's egg) to create a preg.nancy, hence the choice a woman should have whether or not to have se.x/get preg.nant. I believe she should also have access to buy on the market any bi.rth control that does not result directly or as a side effect the death of an unborn child.

And as a side note, you need to buy food as well as tam.pons and pads, and that costs money too. Everything you need in life to live costs money and requires work. The fact that you have to buy tam.pons and pads does not support that our society is male domminated at all. Just saying.
