LOL. And while I'm in love with it, sometimes you gotta take 5!! :D but seriously, have you noticed that almost ALL threads are about religion? Not even various religions. Just Christianity. Weird. That's why I actually read through all of quantum's science thread XD

Basically, my big deal with it all is a lack of empathy, sure, you can propigate your idealogies unabated for the sake of your argument, and these guys do, it's just, y'know, is that the right way to go about it? I don't believe so. However, some may.

Hmmm, I see. Wait until I tell our dear friend, Quantum, that you had an ulterior motive for reading the writing he put so much hard work in to.

*evil laugh*

XD

Anyways, I created a non-religious thread just for you! :D

God ble--
I mean, Good night. ;)

LOL. Was gonna say lmao, but that seemed inappropriate (I just said it, didn't I?) and.........lack of empathy? Do you realize, at least on my part, the only reason I do these debates (besides the opportunity for personal growth and it's fun) is because I genuinely care about these people? Think about it. How could you believe in He.ll and not try to discuss things with others? Or why you have the hope you do? It's like finding the cure for cancer and being to afraid or shy to share it.

If you think these discussions are completely mechanical, you're dead wrong bro. Just sayin.

And half.note, I have no anterior motives. Just pure boredom XD

agneumeyer:

You should know that a lot of people on this forum know each other quite well.

We all care about each other and we know that.

So sometimes, for the sake of a good discussion, people just tend to leave off the pleasantries and frivolities.

Also, I find that communicating on a forum can be quite impersonal, so sometimes people may come across as cold, when really they are warm, loving people.

God bless. ♥

These are the kind of things that I want to know about. Thank you both.

Oh, no problem. :D

And be sure to introduce in yourself in the "newbies" thread.

I hope you will stick around. New beliefs and opinions are always welcome. :)

"But religion is like the MAIN PART of philosophy."

I disagree. Religion is only one aspect of philosophy, even during the most religious times in history. Of course, it depends a lot on what you consider to be religious philosophy (anything to do with religion or only things specifically about religion or something in between? etc.), and how you consider the large historic overlap between science and philosophy. Especially when you consider the extent of political philosophy. I think that's a large component that tips the scale quite a bit.

More on-topic, as a new-comer myself, this seems to be the kindest and most pleasant philosophy forum (possibly even forum in general) that I've ever had the good fortune to find.

Jade.I.Am: I'm on the same page - religion is great, but some variety is nice - thus my post.

Religion is one of many branches of philosophy, but... it's one of the only ones teenagers like us know anything about. We may not know anything about Immanuel Kant or quantum physics (unless your name is Quantum) but we've all at least heard of God. Whether we believe it or not, many of us have been taught about the Bible/Koran/Torah since we were very young. That's why every debate on here either begins with or turns to religion.

I dunno what you mean about "teenagers like us," I'm always up for some political or moral philosophy :P

Yeah that make sense. I was just sayin, variety would be nice. Didn't mean to spark a debate, but I suppose on this forum it was inevitable :P

I should have put (like us) in parentheses. I meant teenagers in general and we are all teenagers. (At least I hope everyone on here is a teenager... :)
