Politically: the government can't really do anything about it, so yes, you can. Morally, I don't think it's right, but from a purely political perspective, you're only hurting yourself. And of course, morals depend on your opinion. Of course, if you believe that you're using your body to do God's will, then it would be wrong, because you're killing one of His creations and so that life isn't yours to take.

I'm just gonna say yes and be done with it. You have your right to your own life, so do whatever you want with it.

anyone can do anything they want. i could disobey my mother and i did it because i wanted to. BUT every choice you make has consequences to it. So if i decide to disobey my mom then, of course my consequences are being punished.

alright now you have the choice to take your own life, but there is consequences to it. 1.) everyone will grieve over your death(whether you realize it or not, people actually DO care.) 2.) since i beleive in G-d if you kill yourself and you don't have a relationship with Him, then that consequence will be going to he.ll. i find this interesting: 78% of athiests convert at their death bed. hmmm if that's not using G-d as a crutch then what is? there are many more consequences to suicide.

(this would be a good topic for the book;)

PB: (it totally would XD I havent worked on that in a while though, been kinda busy ^^; )

Someone needs to tell me what makes he.ll so bad. Like seriously, what can you do that's fun and totally not bad anyways?

Consequences, shmosequences. Of course there's a consequence, everything you do has a consequence. A consequence by definition is "the effect, result, or outcome of something occurring earlier" Action=Reaction dude.

As for the conversion thing, that's just human nature. We don't know what happens after death, and what we don't know scares us. So we cling to whatever tiny bit of support we have, i.e. God.

Still, the simple answer to the original question asked is Yes. A bajillion and five times yes.

I don't believe suicide is the right answer (in most cases: I'm for assisted suicide/voluntary euthenasia in some circumstances). I have a really strong belief in the idea of life and living, so it goes against one of my core beliefs. It's never something I could do, and not something I would want for anyone else. I'm not going to condemn someone for that choice, but I believe in life too strongly to think that it's the right one.

Packerbacker: I have a love/hate relationship with random statistics. What is your source for the conversion statistic? I think it's quite limiting to make such an assumption.

Politically (is it a "constitutional right"): I suppose it would be. "Do whatever the heck you want" is the mainstream philosophy now. Life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. I suppose you could freely relinquish your right to life.

Morally: As a human being, no, you don't have the right. Not going to go into the religious side of it, I think you all know where I stand on that by now, as a Christian. I'll just say that when your life influences so many people, your life really isn't yours at all. Suicide is selfish. End of story. Not that my heart doesn't break for what they must be going through, it's not about detesting their weakness. I just think if you know how many people will be hurting by the act of suicide, and you choose to go through with it, then that's selfish.

I don't think you can pin this issue down with a solid "no" or "yes", it's complicated, and many-sided. Yes we have the right, in the sense that we feel entitled to everything, our own government tells us we are. No in the sense that your body, even though it "belongs" to you (which is debatable), that just means there's a responsibility to take care of it and safeguard it, if not for you for the sake of others.

Floree: the torture is what pretty much makes he.ll "bad" ......random question btw

Ok. I'll my two cents now. Yes, I think you have the right.

BUT...its a very selfish, awful thing to do. I knew someone very well who was about to attempt suicide and I helped stop it - that was the scariest moment of my life. I understand how someone might get to that point, but they need to realize that lots of people really care about them.

However, in some cases like "pulling the plug" after a long fullfilling life - I totally get that and support that 100% if that's what the person wants.

And lastly, I agree with Jubilex - where's the source of that statistic Packerbacker.

statistic: well there i go again reading the descriptions to fast on google:( lol, it was talking about an assumption sorry i read it to fast. also, i would think that at least a good 5% of athiests would have deathbed conversions...that's what i think:) sorry for the confusion.

Jade: I know that much, but is it like, physical torture or something? Cuz that makes no sense. You go up to heaven or down to he.ll spiritually right? Can you physically torture a spirit or a soul? o.O and i know, but it's always confused me XD

(I'm still saying yes on the suicide thing though)

PB: But Job didn't die, he still had a body that Sa.tan could mess with o.o

Jade: Psychological torture? Wut? o.o *googles* Eh... creepy. And weird. Most of it deals with losing the senses though. ... does a dead soul have senses?

But how do you physically torture a dead person? Like don't you like, float up to heaven or down to he.ll or something? I mean, you leave your body on earth, so like, how does that work? Do you just float around like nothing and be all like "Weee imma ghosty"? Cuz then we have nothing physical attached to us, and you can't physically torure someone who isn't a physical thing.

As far as a personal right, I believe they do. The effect on others should be taken in consideration by him/her but it is nonetheless his/her life and nobody else's. It may not be morally right because of the tragedy he/she is leaving for his/her loved ones. However this is all written in the assumption that this is a political right.
However the other definition, "what is right" complicates things even further. "What is right" is only defined by our time and environment. All i can say for this definition is that modern times just don't accept suicide. That may seem unecessary to bring up and it probably is but the opposition is what is worth noting, many societies supported ritual suicides and practices of such nature.

You support that guy or not? XD I know a lot of you guys say that you shouldn't commit suicide, but if someone wants to die, will you support them in the end?

No. The only time I support suicide is someone on life support who live continuously in physical pain or couldn't live without the help of machines. At that point if you think there is nothing left to live for I'm with you. Otherwise, no.

And did you make that? That's amazng. How do you do all the different textures?
