well i just noticed something about religion. i have been brainwashed to think that islam is the enemy and extremists have been brainwashed to think that christians and J.ews are the enemy...
well i think that extremists are the enemy, but i don't think your everyday muslim is, so sorry if i offended anyone, it just clicked when i was taking a shower today:)
Shalom Alechiem and Barucha!
Weird how important things come to you in the shower.
Does it matter?
finally, the revelation we've all been waiting for! ;)
Thanks, God lol
Showers are important!
I feel like I should point out that if your not with God, your against him. Its pretty clear that all humans are at war against God until they repent of their sinful ways.
Normally I compose poetry or school essays in the shower... but I suppose important philosophical realizations work too. :)
And I'd like to add that extremists of any kind are the enemy. Muslim extremists, Christian extremeists (Westboro Baptists, I'm looking at you), Jewish extremists, Buddhist extremists (never heard of any, but they probably exist somewhere :), conservative extremists, liberal extremists, nationalist extremists, anarchist extremists, Taylor Swift extremists (like my sister :).
My point is that the ability to understand and respect others and their beliefs (even if you disagree) is the key to world peace. Also the biggest enemy of extremists everywhere, and thus the reason world peace won't be happening any time soon. (sigh...)
I've always thought "extremists" was a bad word for the Westboro peeps. Saint Peter, Mother Teresa, and Billy Graham were Christian extremists. The Westboros are just psychopaths.
Imagine: I guess you should keep track of Buddhist extremism in Burma and Sri Lanka. A debate for news and issues. :P
The shower is the best place for thinking. "It takes me 57 minutes to shower: 55 to ponder the deep questions of the world, and 2 to realize that Mom said to hurry and to actually shower." Or something like that. ;-)
I agree with this, sort of. I've known some Muslims that are very nice, and are definitely not extremists (I hope O.o).
BUT Islam blatantly teaches that "infidels" must be killed (correct me if I'm wrong, Destinee). While not all Muslims believe this, I'm sure, or even most of them, it is taught. I don't think I could live with myself and belong to a religion that teaches you to murder others.
Imagine: I don't know...If you kill others in an act of terror for any reason (in act of defense or war, I don't mind), then you are the enemy. If that's what you mean by "extremists," then I agree. If you mean someone who takes their beliefs very seriously and will not bend in any matter...I disagree. ;-)
Okay, I guess I should define what I meant by 'extremist'-
Someone who is so obsessed with their beliefs that they cannot accept the existance of a contrary idea.
I don't think you're an extremist if you're dedicated to your beliefs. I think you're an extremist if you're so dedicated to your beliefs that you must degrade/attack/eliminate anyone who does not share your beliefs.
Under this definition, Mother Theresa, although she was extremely religious, was not an 'extremist'. Islamic terrorists, Westboros, and Sinhala Buddhists (thanks Dynamo) are extremists.
Warrior: Where does Islam teach to kill all indidels? Source?
Islam only teaches to fight only in self-defense. If you think my viewpoint is my own, that would be a grevious mistake. I guess I and Dess answered it on a thread named "Desstinee or Dynamo (Koran Question)". You'll find it on the second page.
Imagine: No prob :P
I guess I was mistaken, then. I was always told that Islam blatantly taught murder (which I always sort of questioned, because it was my Christian mother who told me haha). I'm glad to know otherwise.
May I ask what, in your opinion, justifies the Islamic terrorists' acts in their mind?
THERE is no justification for extremism.
No, but people will go to great lengths to justify their actions. What lie do they tell themselves to make it okay? That it is A.llah's will, or...?
I don't know Warrior. I never had no experience of the sowrt.:P
Err... Dynamo, I think you have the emphasis on the wrong word buddy.
Not just self-defence. Also in defeating a tyrant.
Ah, I forgot to mention that too. Although you must first be 100% sure that the guy in question is really a tyrant.
TheKing: Ah, that's a thing my mobile troubles me with. :P
Dynamo: I wasn't implying that you did have experience- sorry if it came across that way. I was mostly just inviting you to muse with me, because I'm always curious about getting into people's heads, so...Yeah.
