Welcome, Emilile. :)
This thread is riddled with my introductions, so just click through the pages and I'm sure you're bound to find a few. :P
I hope you enjoy your time here and learn a lot. This forum has been a real blessing to me over the years, and I pray it is the same for you.

Mckay:
Dude, you should check out an alternative band called "The Shins." I am totally in love with them at the moment. It can take a while to get into their music, but they have some real gems once you do. I'd recommend looking up their songs "Turn a Square," "Baby Boomerang," and "Australia."
Also, you can never go wrong with the Beatles. ;)

God bless. ♥

I'm checking them out immediately.

And I think, I've spoken before about how I'm not into the Beatles. :P Which reminds me of a conversation I was having with my brother earlier today about how sacrilegious it sounds to other people when I say I'm not into the Beatles. Though occasionally, I do listen to a song of theirs. "Live or Let Die". But that was mostly Paul. "Hey Jude". Again Paul. "Imagine". But that was John. And "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."

Maybe I just need better recommendations, not that those aren't good songs.

If you have more alternative recommendations, even better. Not that other genres aren't welcomed.

Haha, yes, I recall our discussion about the Beatles (that's why I mentioned it :P).
And yeah, those are some of their more generic songs. I tend to like the obscure, underrated ones (well, as obscure and underrated as Beatles' songs can get XD).
"Michelle" is a really pretty one by Paul that you might like. Or even something from the White Album like "Honey Pie" or "Happiness Is A Warm Gun."

And I have a lot more alternative recommendations, if you really want them. That's mostly what I listen to.
If you like The Shins, you should also check out Broken Bells. The lead singer is the same in both bands. (I actually saw Broken Bells in concert this summer. It was amazing. :D)
Some other bands you could check out are Mother Mother (their new song "Get Out The Way" is totally epic), Grouplove (maybe look up "Colours" for their more popular stuff and "Hippy Hill" for their weirder stuff), and (if you're brave enough) you can check out Neutral Milk Hotel. I get strange looks when I play their music, so you have to like really weird stuff to enjoy them. Maybe check out their songs "Holland, 1945" or "Engine" to get started.

Also, I'd appreciate any recommendations you have for me. I'm always on the hunt for new new music. :)

(And if we're to continue this conversation, as well, maybe reply to me in the Chat thread.)

God bless. ♥

So you remeber? :P

I'm listening so far to all the recommendations. I definitely remember listening to the Shins a while ago. Not going to lit the Beatles songs aren't bad. :P

I know Grouplove for sure. I'll check out the rest for sure.

Umm...Ever heard of Observer Drift. He's not big at all. I remember some YouTuber recommending him. Now, I can't get enough. Wet (yes, that's what they're called.) They're a small Brooklyn trio with four songs right now. If you're not on Tumblr, listen to Troye Sivan. I know, I know, he's mainstream. But his EP is outstanding. Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I have a new fond love for them. Karen O's voice is angelic. The Moldy Peahces and Kimya Dawson. My friend recommended Banks to me. Her music is pop. But kind of dark pop, not like Lana del Rey but somewhere along the lines. St. Vincent.

I can't remember anyone else right now.

I remember everyone who says they don't like the Beatles.
*creepy voice* EVERYONE. I HAVE A LIST.

:P

Anyways, I'll have to check out those bands as soon as I get the time (either tonight or tomorrow). For now I should go and eat and try to get my homework done.

God bless. ♥

"I want to listen to new musicians, not the same stuff every day"

Oh boy, do you really mean this? Because I can hook you up with some fantastic, truly experimental music that is decidedly not the typical alt rock shenanigans that most people might suggest... *cough* ...I mean, stuff that will make Neutral Milk Hotel look like a walk in the park of comfortable pop culture.

Hold on, let me compile a youtube playlist, I'm about to take this invitation to suggest music *way* too far...

Mckay

I'm mostly in to metal. But not much screaming/growling type stuff. Mostly power and symphonic metal. Here, I'll link you to my favourite song.

Greetings Humans of the Philosophy and Thought Forum. I come from a distant world of abstraction.
My people live in hypothetical situations. All of our possessions are intangible. Due to the lack of any form of structure, my world collapsed under peer criticism.
This forum reminds me so much of home. May I live here?
