I love horses and work at a ranch and ride there. Sometimes I get rides for free because I work. I groom the horses, give classes, and help out in many other ways. So, does anyone else here ride and/or work with horses?
I am an English jumper, been around horses for the past 13 years. My current horse is a 16.3 black Dutch warmblood/TB cross. We jump 4'3 at home and 3'6-3'11 at shows
I used to want a horse so bad when i was little. my mom enrolled me in lessons at "someday farm" run by a friend
Living in the country, I have grown up surrounded by horses, but have never actually been able to ride one. >.< Several of my neighbors have horses, and there are actually a few ranches that do rodeos. I am thinking of trying to get a summer job at a ranch next year when I turn 16, though, because it's something I have always wanted to do. I put a horse on ever wishlist I ever made up until I was nine, and I only stopped because I had figured out a couple years before that it was never going to happen. :p
I've been riding for just over three years, and got my own horse a few months ago. She's a five year old Irish Sports Pony called Jazz :)
If you would like to get tecnacal about it, I've been riding for 15 years, and I am only 14. My mom rode while she was preganat :). Any way, I've been riding since I could sit up. I live on a horse barn that bords (sp?) horses and teaches riding leasons.
I didn't have my own horse until I was four, and then I got a shetland pony who I love and his name is Pumpkin :). When I grew out of him I rode a paint pony named Tyler who was a great pony, but I never bonded with him because he was "the horse after Pumpkin". Now I ride Mount McKinley (he is a draft cross and the tallest in the barn so he is named after a mountain, we call him Mac), and Carlos who we are training to jump. I can not live without horses.
