EEEK! Marching band is most definatley a sport! I just got home from 3 1/2 hours in the pouring, freezing rain!
oooh, i hate rain practices! we had a fb game the night before a competition last weekend and it rained all over our nice new silks so we had to spend 45 minutes laying them out just right so they'd dry over night! DX and then our director wanted a full front ensemble unload...in the rain...with half a tarp...
Actually, quite a few bands compete. my band competes nationally and there is a circuit of them that are international, check out DCI. phantom regiment, santa clara, the cadets, blue devils videos say it all. they literally practice non-stop for sometimes two-three competitions in a single day.
