I am almost 15 and I am planning on beating the woman's fastest mile which is 4:12.56 made by Svetlana Masterkova. I know sounds crazy, right? But hey, we only have one life to live, and I'm living and dreaming big! I have been doing some hardcore training, but I need all the help I can get. Anyone have any tips? I just need to know how to run longer and faster. Thank you so much:)
Definitely depends a lot on where you are right now-- how far you run a day, how long you've been running for, what your times are, etc. My first tip is to join your school's track and xc teams; it helps a ridiculous amount to be able to run with other people. :)
If you're not on a team, and don't have set workouts, there are a lot of different techniques to improve your times. Hill repeats are good for strength, 400m repeats for speed, and long runs for endurance (30-40 min to start). If you can find weights, its surprisingly beneficial to work out your arms. Do core workouts whenever possible, and other cross training like swimming, biking, and hiking. The most important part is to not overwork and hurt yourself, because injuries take a looong time to recover from. Also, don't get discouraged! It'll take a long time. I'm also 15 and I did my first year of xc last year, and even though I've improved a ton, a year of hard work hasn't gotten me anywhere near the top yet.Good luck! :)
Wow. That's a fantastic goal! Good luck!! I wish I could run better.
Congrats on setting such a high goal for yourself! I currently hold a world record for archery/primative arms! Shot and killed the worlds largest Elds Deer with a bow at 15 yards, youngest girl in the adult hunting world record book, only girl to shoot one, only person to ever shoot one with a bow, largest Elds Deer overall, only Elds Deer shot in full velvet, and I shot it on my birthday :). SET HIGH GOALS FOR YOURSELF! Go for it!
