A bad storm is coming or is already here. How do your characters make out? Is there home left in shambles or, do they survive without any harm to themselves ?
Isn't my best work, but I think Mark is cute in this, I wrote it a while back, but never did anything with it. :)
Jade hurried inside her house, her nerves were shot. Mark just called her, raving about the oncoming storm. Hillary, Henry, Abigail, and Mark were already there waiting for her arrival. Mark swept her into his arms, gripping her tight against him. “Where have you been? You know how I am in a crisis!” Jade rolled her eyes and lead the crowd into her cellar. It was stocked with enough food and water to last three years. Plenty to keep the five of them content throughout the storm. Jade placed her things on the bed closest to the exit, which Mark promptly switched to a bed further from the door. Jade laughed and watched as Henry situated Hillary a safe distance away as well. Abigail, who was hugging tight to Hillary, sat onto the bed. “Daddy said der was gonna be a big stoowm.” Abigail noted, her brown eyebrows furrowing in confusion. “We neve has to come down here before?” Hillary nodded, standing level with her to explain the potential tornado that was approaching. Mark shivered just hearing it. “We are fine, Mark, just breathe,” He rolled his eyes, moving to begin organizing the small cabin. “Mate, this bloody habit of yours isn't going to happen now!“ Henry exclaimed, though his voice was playful. “Sorry,” Mark sounded properly chastised, but a frown played on his lips, Jade leaned forward and kissed his cheek. ”We are underground, the tornado is above ground. We are safe.” She assured, staring him directly in the eye. Mark nodded, but Jade could still see the worry in his eyes. “Let's watch a movie! It'll calm everyone down,” Hillary suggested, slipping a portable DVD player from her purse. Abigail began to bounce in excitement and all faces fell. They were going to have to watch a Princess movie. With a heavy sigh the girls went to their respective boyfriends and hugged them both, everyone cuddling in as the movie started. “Not this one again!” Mark whisper-huffed. Jade laughed at his obvious disdain for the movie. Abigail sat in Henry's lap, her favorite person in the room. Jade laid her head on the balled up pillow beneath her and Mark aligned his body alongside hers. “Love you,” He murmured, kissing her cheek. “Love you, too,” Henry fake gagged, but was cut off by Hillary kissing him. “Sh!” Abigail hissed. Everyone went quiet as the movie began. Jade's eyes began to droop and she felt the weight of a blanket surround her, then she slept.
Jade bolted awake and looked around to see her friends jolt up as well. Mark must've moved her to the bed because she was swaddled in its warmth. Her eyes adjusted as Mark made his way near her. “Angel? Come on, we're gonna sit you over by Hill; there's a crack in the door.” Mark tried to sound calm, but it was obvious to Jade he was extremely nervous. “Would you see if the lights still work? If I move, you move, too.” Mark shook his head and switched on the light switch. “Fine, I'll just share with you.” Mark pushed her bed beside Henry's, which was now pushed into Hillary's. Abigail was balled up in between Hillary and Henry, crying. Hillary hugged her close, doing all she could to soothe her tears. The storm roared again and Mark jumped onto the bed. Henry shook with laughter and Jade did as well. “Shut up,” he growled, pulling Jade down with her. “I'm going to die.” Mark whimpered. He wrapped her up in the comforter and held her close to him. “J-Jay?” Abby croaked, crawling off of the bed and beside her. “‘Memba, when you beat up da munsters? Beat dis one up,” She murmured, hugging close to her sister's soul sister. Mark kissed her head, holding the two of them against his chest. “Go back to sleep, sweetheart. Mark and I will keep you safe.” Mark nodded in agreement as Jade crooned a lullaby into Abby's ear. They all drifted back into a fitful slumber.
