So I had this idea for an excerise for creative writing ideas. So if your having writers block or just cant think of a general idea for a story or want to write a short story KEEP READING!!! :D
Take your mp3, or trade with a friend for different song types, and get your handy-dandy notebook or laptop ready because when the song starts you write.
Try to not allow yourself to stop and just flow with the ideas the music gives you. If you get stuck rewrite lines until a new idea comes. But TRY NOT TO STOP!!
I would allow a max of 10 seconds into the song for an idea to form.
Do this 4 to 6 times, all different songs that bring up different emotions.
NOTE! Dont allow yourself to use the same characters or basic idea for each song. Create a new idea and character for each peice you write.
When the song is done stop, no matter if your in the middle of an idea or a word even. Just stop when the song does.
