I had writers block and I actually wrote about it. Check it out, if you want. It just got put up.
I wrote a 20+ page paper on writing... but it's more like a scholarly article and I can't find anyone who would want to read it. LOL.
I get writer's block too!!! I tend to read other things or listen to music, that's what really inspires me.
Please read some of my work!!! I'm new!!!
Thank You!!! :]
Well-I get writers block alot, but regardless, I still come up w/good ideas. My way of moving past writers block is to take several interesting titles or words and try to come up w/something that could branch off of it. It may work for you-it may not...it's what i do though.
When I have writer's block, I try to find a place to be alone for a little bit. You could take a walk, or what I like to do is get up in the middle of the night and go outside (I usually do this when the nights aren't too cold). I just sit and wait for an idea to come to me. Sometimes if you're straining to find an idea, it won't come. Just let it happen. Let your mind wander.
For me, i write what i feel. i take whatever is stirring inside me and mold it into whatever and from their its like a ripple affect i write from that and then from that and on and on. Maybe if you give your self a writing prompt. write about what gets your blood pumping or what moves you like a picture or an idea. Don't be afraid if it turns out bad because there's no such thing as bad writing. Thats what i love about it. It is what you make it. Its your own.
The same thing happens to me! If you're having trouble with a novel, then take a break from it and read something and go do fun things to get inspiration.
If you just need writing prompts, try this one: Take a really bad book's plot and try to write it well.
Or take the title of some book and write what you think that book would be about.
In my experience brilliant ideas just come when they come. If you do or read something to inspire them it is usually completely by accident and when you least expect it. Just be patient and it will come. I know waiting is hard (believe me I've been there) so while you are try writing something just for fun, like a story for little kids. It doesn't have to be the next New York Times bestseller it just has to make you smile.
I totally agree with you. I struggle with it too, but like some people have already said...listening to music and looking around really inspires me!!!
Well when i possess a block in my creativity in a story or poem-- happens a lot considering that i write only in the moment of inspiration and once my writing utensil stops etching chicken scratches thats when i lose my train of thought i basically just wait it out or go on bout my regular routine then the ideals come rushing back again like a playful spring breeze.
I agree, writing can be at times spontaneous but i believe it has a purpose an intent of some kind.
I like to pick something random and simple that no one usually notices and then brainstorm wacky ideas about it until I feel like I write again.
I write about things that I personally go through.
The 3am Ephiphany, and The 4am Breakthrough are these AMAZING books filled with really cool exersises for the serious writer. Some of them are a little difficult if you aren't familiar with different writing rules and styles, but they will seriously open up all your creativity! Some of my best work has stemmed from those exersices.
Music works for me 90% of the time. Just choose your favorite that makes you relax. Oddly, I find Dragonforce comforting. :)
I would set a fake deadline. A really close one, say tommorow. You have no idea how fast I write when I do that! Or, take a walk. That gives me good ideas. So does freewriting.
You know, I have been published and I still get writer blocks. These are my tricks:
1. What topic interests you the most?
2. What would happen if a very important thing in life went wrong? That could be for a horror story.
3. Choose a book you like and ask yourself, "What is it that I like so much about the book?"
Hope my advice was a bit useful!just take a deep breath n wait da story is gonaa com....it happens to me all da time i mean i think i hav tried 4 novels that i didnt finish so dis year i decided to finish one at a time n it really works when u make some one read it.....btw check my works pls
