The petals wither

The color sings no more

dripping teardrops fall

Melodies heard near

blanketed like nightfall

winter is now here

Sonnets wrote long ago

once had a story told

now considered old

Once upon a time

there lived a gorgeous rhyme

with the birds she’d chime

Like a snake I shed

off comes the broken spirit

and on comes the new

A carpe diem

so many seized days

its all a lost cause

The odd young donkey

was really rather swanky

said mack the monkey

To be more precise

I’ll take a roll of the dice

may your luck be changed
