I <3 anime and manga!!!! cosplay's pretty cool, a lot of them are amazing.  I'm not sure about yaoi, like, I'm ok with it (not really intimate stuff) but some of it can be funny and makes sense.
And Fairy Tail?  Awesome :)

Okay thanks no one for answering my question.

I'm a Fairy Tail fan too! I've found out that I can't write "fairy tale" without deleting the "fairy tail" I'd written or at least second guessing the spelling. xD I'm planning on making a Fro sweater, so I guess that could be considered cosplay.

I love Soul Eater and Fullmetal Alchemist; as well as Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

I love anime, cosplay is cool if it's done right, and I'm not into yaoi, but that's just me. Problem with that for me is I don't read graphic love scenes, but I'll read shounen-ai if the story's good. I love Monster, though. Poor Tenma just can't catch a break.

I feel the need to clear something up:

Yaoi- BoyxBoy, "Boy's Love", usually pretty freaking explcit and all the dudes looks like girls or are feminine in some way shape or form.
Shounen-ai- BoyxBoy, NOT EXPLICIT.
Bara- ManxMan, "Man's Love". THE GUYS ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE GUYS WITH LIKE MUSCLES AND STUFF.

Anywaysssss, cosplay is soo much fun >w< And anime is awesomenesssss. Hetalia, FMA, Soul Eater, Blue Exorcist, Pokemon (at least the old episodes), Fruits Basket, OHSHC, ALL OF DEM.

So, is Hetalia the one where countries are guys or something? Like Italy and Germany? Because I've run across that a few times, but I wasn't sure how it'd be.

I love anime! So far, I've only ever watched Soul Eater and Ouran High School Host Club, but I simply adore both! (I love Kidd and Soul! But Hikaoru and Kaoru are definitely close seconds!) I've read a few mangas, but I'm not that into yaoi. It's not that I don't like it, it's just that I don't have much time and after a while all the stuff gets kinda repetitive. I've never cosplayed in my life, but it looks like a lot of fun!

I love anime. :) I view yaoi as just a matter of course. Like, no one bats an eye if a guy and girl get together. Why should anyone notice if it happens to be two guys instead of a girl and guy? It's called life people. Gays exist, they fall in love (or out of it), they can go on epic adventures or whatever (following the usual anime plotline). So yeah, I don't even see yaoi as an opinion sort of thing. It just IS.
Also, I love cosplay. I've only cosplayed once, as Buttercup from the Powerpuff Girls. I wish I could cosplay more, but I don't have the cash to buy all the costume pieces! This Halloween though, hopefully I can be Levi from Attack on Titan or Legolas from Lord of the Rings. :)

Cosplay and anime are great! I personally don't like yaoi, but if you do I don't have a problem with it at all!

My first encounter with anime was via "Magi" and that click was a mere coincidence while I was watching "Adventure Time" on the same website. Here and now, my journey continues with "Fairy Tail". I hear people saying watching cartoon or anime is childish and naive. But I think I am affected by some kind of magic.
I think cosplays weaken the spirit of the show by conveying it somehow to the real world. When you wear your favourite character's clothes, you don't become her/him. Blending the sides of him/her you love with your real self is I think what strengthens the bond.
By the way, I see now that I am a beginner in this culture since it's the first  time I hear yaoi.

I've always wanted to do a con, but am frankly too busy. I absolutely love cosplay, and am dominated by anime and manga in my life, so much so that I sometimes wonder if I came straight from the pages of one.

Well, I do think that at times anime and manga can have serious problems, especially when you add yaoi into the mix.

These include but are not limited to:
>se.xualising minors
>se.xualising ra.pe or se.xual assault
>fetishising homose.xuality
>treating women as objects
>being somewhat transphobic

With that said, I do think there are some wonderful anime out there. I tried watching Attack on Titan because I had heard of there being a somewhat diverse cast and a strong female character, but it was a bit too gory for me.

From what I've read of manga, it differs greatly from genre to genre, and even within genres. Sailor Moon seems to be popular, though, and I have to say I enjoy the concept there.

I don't like yaoi. Yes, as a panse.xual boy, I don't like yaoi. It fetishises ga.y men and quite often ignores consent or laws of pedophi.lia. I suppose that is to say that the genre is riddled with problems.

Then again, I have nothing against those who read/watch manga/anime, any genre.

Take this with the knowledge that I hardly ever read manga so I really only know about anime, but:

>this unfortunately shows up in a big way in a few otherwise well-respected shows (like the Monogatari series), and I agree it's a real problem.

>the only example of this that I know of (hentai not withstanding, obviously) is SAO. To my knowledge this isn't a widespread thing by any means.

>I don't really see this... gay characters are rarely portrayed in anime that I've seen, and when they are, usually only in passing as secondary or background characters.

>objectification can definitely be an issue sometimes, like when the harem genre is done poorly. It may be less prevalent than you'd think, though - if anything, my experience is that well-written female protagonists are notably more common in anime than in western TV and movies (although there may be some bias here because I stay away from the shounen genre for the most part). Even harem genre shows get this right surprisingly often.

>I've never seen this. There are two shows I can think of with trans characters off the top of my head (Hourou Musuko and, surprisingly, Denpa Kyoushi) and they both handle the topic very well.
