in 2001 when it was passed, shortly after 9/11, 98 U.S. senators passed the bill. 98 Senators said yes. 1 Senator was not there. 1 Senator had a pair to say NO.
I thought that was pretty cool, and sad at the same time. Sad that it takes a terrorist act to pull Congress together. Idi.ots.
I'm sorry but whoever that one senator was just wanted to have an easier time getting reelected. The PATRIOT Act has given law enforcement the tools that they need to combat terrorism. Now, civil libertarians like the ACLU tout it as wrong and a violation of civil rights but I don't see terrorists respecting our rights so do they really deserve the same consideration?
