I'm not asking for help with depression: I want to help give it. I want teens to know that depression shouldn't define you, and is more common than you think. I have dysthymia and it runs in my family, which is like long-term depression. It can be really hard sometimes, and I'm on medication, along with attending therapy. Feel free to share your stories here and ask for help.
Hey there! I made a thread similar to this called, "Depression: Info, help, discussion." I've been depressed for five and a half years and have been functional and stable for around 2. I created the thread to help people going through the same kinds of things as I did. I never took medication or went to therapy (dealing with everything was pretty much all self taught), but I'm really pro therapy and I can understand the benefits of medication.
I really appreciate you doing this :)
I'm really glad to hear you're doing well! Medication, while at first a scary step, has really helped me, and I've experienced few to no side-effects. I've gone to two different therapists, and while sometimes you've gotta talk about hard things, that's what really helps in the end.
I'm glad it's all worked out for you :)
